Every one of us loved it here - grown ups, kids, and dog. We had many great adventures in a short time and wished we could have stayed longer. The kids and the dog loved roaming the beach right outside and swimming in such perfectly clear and calm water was wonderful. Well equipped apartment and helpful friendly hosts. Recommended and we hope to be back some day.
Large spacious apartment with a wonderful view of the water complete with all amenities.
The owners can be heard above, as early as 5:30am. If a light sleeper, we suggest bringing a sound masker.
First time to Cape Breton and this location was perfect for all the sites we wanted to see. The property was also perfect for our dog. Private so she could be off leash and lots of beach to walk on. The unit itself is very spacious and well equipped if you want to cook your own meals. Would definitely recommend.
There were holes in the wall,,it was supposed to be a private beach,,But the blinds were on backwards..I ask him to change it and he said no..
They let their dogs run loose on the property and use the bathroom on the lawn..
The shower was deadly hot at times and had very little water pressure..
I would rate this a 1
Space is large and even though you have several miles on unpaved road the drive was pleasant and right next to the water. Do the drive through and the park which takes all day with stops. Don’ Miss the Baddeck lobster supper. The people’s of NS and PEI are really very friendly and polite. A beautiful country.
Lovely setting for a quiet getaway for nature lovers. The big picture windows look out onto the lake, where you will see various kinds of sea fowl - we loved the great blue herons. The house itself was impeccably clean, spacious and comfy.

Great views of the ocean
Very clean, great views of the sunrise, definitely isolated, down a long dirt road.Stayed here to attend the Celtic Colours Festival so it was centrally located to everything. It is always nicer to stay in a house. More room, you can cook some meals, and the views were spectacular.

Breathtaking Views and Peaceful Bliss
You could not ask for a more serene location to disconnect from a busy life. No neighbours to see or hear. Lobster fisherman out on a morning routine manoeuvring on an ocean of waves. Like a real life painting. We enjoyed our stay immensely. The place is beautifully appointed with everything you need to get by. The peace you find here is so hard to come by these days. A 9km drive off the paved roads assures absolute privacy and relaxation for the mind and soul. Thank you Richard. We will be back.

Beautiful suite with a great view
My young family stayed at this property for 5 nights. We really enjoyed ourselves.
The pictires don't do the place justice (and they are nice pictures). 10 foot ceilings, amazing view and a little kitchen that almost had everything we do at home. We were quite impressed by how well it was stocked.
Richard was very friendly and helpful. Another review mentioned hearing footsteps, bugs and smoke, yes you can hear footsteps but you can't smell any smoke and there were hardly any bugs at all when we were there. The door was open for most of the time with no issues.
We built a little firepit on the water and had quite a few fires. All of the firewood was provided.
My kids had fun in the water and enjoyed hunting for seashells. The tides made some evenings even better when you could hear the waves crashing on the shore from the house.
If you have young kids like us with an early bedtimes, you might find yourself on the pull out sofa so you can still enjoy your evening. It's as comfortable as any other pull out but I felt the waves more than made up for it.
It was a very nice stay and we enjoyed it very much. Thank you!

A generally positive experience
Richard, the owner, is great. Despite a mixup in our arrival date, he responded quickly to ready the place for us and also demonstrated incredible integrity in honouring a discount that was no longer in effect. High praise to him. What's good about this place? Beautiful kitchen and shower, very comfortable bed and living room furniture, well-appointed home that had everything we needed, very clean, lovely view.
What's not so good? The living room heats up like an oven during the day; an air conditioner or ceiling fan would be an excellent addition. The property is tricky to locate; the address marker is not at eye level and we drove back and forth along the dirt road a number of times before we finally found it. The bugs are absolutely vicious. Deer flies dive bomb you whenever you step outside and the black flies are unrelenting! Bring bug spray. We could often hear the occupants upstairs; soundproofing isn't great and I could also smell cigarette smoke on several occasions. I'm severely allergic to smoke and therefore quite sensitive. Fortunately, it wasn't bad enough to make me ill, just uncomfortable. Perhaps most people would be unaffected, but I was definitely aware of it.
All in all, I would recommend staying at Richard's. The positives outweighed the negatives.

Peaceful and lovely hideaway
Greatly enjoyed our 4 night stay in this lovely part of the world. House had everything we needed(apart from a kettle !) it was comfortable and in a super place to unwind. The views were stunning. The pictures in the brochure did not do the house justice. The house was clean and reasonably well equipped. We did not meet the owner although there was someone upstairs during our visit. We enjoyed the local produce especially the lobster suppers in Baddeck and the fresh fish from the Kissing Cod on the warf. Was worth the trip along the unsurfaced road.

Quiet Luxurious stay with a wonderful view
This Lower level suite is beautifully furnished and very spacious. The view from the couches to the ocean is incredible. Having the private beach all to yourself is second to none. We loved having a fire every night on the beach. We always tried to end our sight seeing day early enough so we could go back to the suite and enjoy the surroundings and the quiet solitude. Thank you for making our stay in Cape Breton very enjoyable and relaxing. We highly recommend this suite you will not regret it.

Great House!
My wife and I used this property for our honeymoon in 2009. We went there in October and though cool and rainy, this remote beach house was great for our needs. It has modern features and is very cozy. The door opens right onto your own private beach.
The owners are very nice and you couldn't find nicer people than you can in Cape Breton Island. We walked for hours along the cost and hiked to a great waterfall that empties into the sea. We will definitely be back soon!
