Oceanfront Cottage with Beach Access on Spectacular Mendocino Coast

Enjoy one of the most spectacular views on the Mendocino coast. Nestled in peaceful seclusion atop a bluff overlooking a mile of dramatic beachfront, the Elk Cove Inn’s Craftsman-style Mansion was built in 1883 by the L.E. White Lumber Co. as the Mill Superintendent’s home. It became one of the first bed & breakfast inns on the Mendocino Coast in 1968. The inn is set back from the road, surrounded by native trees, a creek and the ocean, with private stairs to the driftwood-strewn beach below.This cozy northern California inn overlooks the Pacific atop a bluff in Elk, known for its dramatic coastline views and gorgeous sunsets. Relax to the sound of the water.The best Pet friendly place. Champagne breakfast is served every day.

Coastal Getaway

Perfect location for the down to earth couple wanting breathtaking beach views. Must love dogs <3 the property has friendly dogs that greet you and make the experience that much better. Truly a bed and breakfast with communal areas to meet new friends and have a shared experience. Delicious restaurant with many of the items, farm to fork.

Birthday hideaway

The owners and employees were wonderful. The facility is marvelous! Location provides for beach access and walking trails. Food is amazingly great! Having meals on restaurant deck provides fantastic view for breakfast and dinner. Happy hour provides opportunity to socialize with other guests.

The place was scenic and had a beautiful garden the spa was excellent and the food was over the top.

Had a problem with VRBO and it’s communication with the stay there we ended up not getting the place or the days we wanted and our room had stairs in it both my girlfriend and I are handicap and struggled with the stairs in our room

Quaint ocean view cottage on Mendocino coast

I surprised my husband with a three night getaway for his birthday. I learned about this property on VRBO. Everything as stated about the property is accurate: breath taking views, lovely accommodations and wonderful champagne breakfasts to begin each day. The property owners, Melissa and Rakesh, went out of their way to make sure our stay was amazing. They could not have been more hospitable and generous. We definitely look forward to returning!

Peaceful 4th of July

My husband and I brought our 2 dogs up to avoid the fireworks at home. It was so beautiful and quiet! Our breakfast both mornings was great and we both loved our dinner. All the staff was so pleasant and helpful.

RELAXING & BEAUTIFUL Weekend!

My partner & I spent a delightful weekend here in the Covey Cottage with our two small dogs. We had our dinner delivered & it was wonderful as were the breakfasts. There was a beautiful view of the beach with easy access. We definitely want to go back!

Honeymoon Getaway

Great place to get away and relax. The view from the room was picture perfect. Breakfast and dinner were both very satisfying, and the staff were all very friendly. If you want to treat yourself ... this is a great place to do it!

Restful hideaway

If you are seeking a secluded room with peace and quiet except for the roar of the ocean, this is THE place for you. Really comfortable bed & soft linens, outstanding food, breathtakingly beautiful ocean view from my bed. Great shower. Short stretch of stairs and a path take you to a beach that feels essentially private (very few folks come and go) and totally manageable even if you aren’t in the greatest shape. Very kind and low key staff. Romantic, restful, private. Celebrated our 55th anniversary here and are thinking we must visit annually now!

Lovely beachside cabin

Elk Cove Inn is a real gem, especially if you have dogs and want to enjoy your vacation with them. We had two (a French bulldog and a Golden Retriever), and they were very happy that the trail down to the beach took only a few minutes. The proximity to the beach and the excellent gazebo and dinner seating area are the highlights. The Cliffside Covey was a little small space-wise but you don't spend too much time inside unless the weather is cold. Breakfast while oceanside is worth the extra premium you're paying in dollars and driving time to get there. Thanks to the staff for their friendly dogs and pleasant service!

Wonderful experience

A lot of places are advertised as dog friendly, but the Elk Spa really means it. The staff is truly welcoming of canines, even larger breeds. The property has a direct path to beautiful and dog friendly Greenwood beach, only a few minute walk. The staff is friendly and helpful, and we felt very welcome. I highly recommend it. Due to covid, meals were delivered directly to our door, which allowed for safe and delicious dining. The food is amazing! Also, the staff and guests all followed proper covid protocol, masking even outdoors in the common areas. I recommend it highly
