This was a great cottage/cabin located conveniently next to App Ski. Furnishings were great, exactly what we needed for a short weekend getaway. More than 2 chars would be a challenge from a parking perspective. Would stay again
We had a great stay at this property. The house was very clean, well stocked, and the owner was very responsive when we had questions. I recommend enjoying the gorgeous mountain views at sunrise from the dining table with a cup of coffee.
Host was excellent with communication and this property was super convenient for a ski weekend. Property was clean and well equipped for all of our needs. Great views from the dining room! Would not hesitate to rent again!
We enjoyed the house, especially the spacious den and deck with wonderful views. The updated kitchen and baths were very nice. The road to the house needs repaving and the driveway is limited to two cars. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to potential vacationeers.
This house was quite nice for our group of seven that stayed here for a weekend. View was beautiful from the dining and living room, as well as the kitchen. The rest of the house furniture wise was a little dated but comfortable. This house is about a 2 minute drive to the ski lodge at appalachian ski mountain where our children were taking ski lessons this weekend.
Our main issue for the house was its exterior condition. This house is located close to the top of the Appalachian mountain Ski resort which is often blowing snow, and some of that snow may blow back on the property. In addition, it had snowed a few days prior. When we arrived, the driveway was not plowed, and with the temps jumping above and below 32 degrees it quickly became very slick. We could not pull one of our cars out of the driveway as a result, and the walkway to the entrance was also covered in snow and became pretty slick (one of our members slipped on the way in). The next day one of us had to shovel and salt the driveway ourself to give a chance for our subaru to make it out.
On top of this, the thermostat was set to 50 degrees when we arrived, and took overnight to warm up the whole house to 70. We had to keep our 2, 4, and 6 year old in their jackets the rest of the evening to keep them warm. My father in law also tried calling the number provided for the owner but never received a call back.
When I contacted the owner via the vrbo app they indicated that it is hard to keep up with the snow at all times, and so the driveway and walkway may not be cleaned. They also said that they control the heat remotely via wifi so that perhaps there was a connection issue.
Regardless, for folks who are making decisions in the future on where to stay, just note that these may be things that you might have to deal with after arrival during the winter season. Had we known that we would have to clean the driveway, we would have saved the expense and just stayed in a hotel.
This was a great experience and it was clean and comfortable! Thank you for your hospitality and letting us enjoy your home! The view was breathtaking!
Stayed with my family for the last home football game. The house is fantastic. Great location (right beside App Ski Mtn.) so a short drive to Blowing Rock and Boone. The view from the dining room and back deck are amazing. Ruth was an excellent communicator and she wanted to make sure we were enjoying our stay. I look forward to staying here again.
My wife and I rented this home for a week in July and were very happy with the choice. I have stayed on App Ski Mountain almost 20 times and it is a great location for Blowing Rock, Boone, and all the hiking and other adventures along the Blue Ridge Parkway.
The house is nicely updated (especially master bathroom and kitchen/appliances); very clean; and was particularly well stocked with paper & cleaning supplies and linens/towels. Smart TVs, good internet and central a/c.
The mountain views (sunrise) from the back deck were beautiful and there is more than ample outdoor furniture and a propane fire pit.
If there is any limitation it would be that the outdoor footprint could be a little small with a larger group or bunch of kids. The back yard is too steep to be really accessible and the front yard is small. The driveway is short and somewhat steep so could be a little inconvenient if you have multiple vehicles coming and going. None of this bothered us - couple of adults in one car.
Owner was very responsive and they have a local person as another contact.
Great value for one or two couples or one family we would definitely book again!
Gorgeous views. Fabulous kitchen and master bath. Good location. Hearing Tweetsie and gunfire in distance brought back wonderful memories. Great value.
