A wonderful stay at a warm and unique Mountain chalet

It was awesome! Nicolas is such a nice and kind host! The house is nicer than expected from the photos. Enough place for the cars, enough and personal sleeping places. The garden and balcons are a big plus! But the true Heart of the House is the wonderful kitchen/living area! The différent ski areas are close by!

A wonderful family home, beautifully finished and perfectly situated

This property is entirely beautiful. It is a wonderful 19th century chalet, modernised to a high standard with every conceivable detail attended to. It is filled with beautiful things, paintings, furniture and design elements - with some memorable touches, which include a fantastic collection of Jazz CDs, a state-of-the-art wood burner / oven, tonnes of cleverly managed space (including a giant "children's room" on the first floor with four comfortable beds), a large boot room for skiers, a superbly stocked kitchen and (for those care) some striking art work. Each bedroom is very comfortable, and stocked amply with bedding and towels, lamps, storage and windows (or balconies) opening onto some of the finest views in the region. The house has a lovely, well-positioned garden, two parking spaces, tonnes of wood for the burner, and no immediate neighbours. The village is quiet but amazingly well placed for anyone exploring the area. It is a few minutes by car from Morillon (a quiet gateway for the Grand Massif) and close to Les Carroz, for anyone wanting a wide choice of restaurants, bars and shopping. The highlights of this amazing property are (1) the ground floor kitchen-dining room - which can cater easily to 10/12 people (and then in comfort and style) and (2) the host - Nicholas - who cannot have done more for us before and during our stay. He is kind, generous and thoughtful - and we would not have enjoyed our holiday as much as we did but for his attentions. In short, we wanted for nothing, and could not have wanted for more. Amazing in every meaningful way.

About the host

Hosted by Nicolas Roux

Host profile image
I am Nicolas. I was born and studied in Paris and now live and work in Metz where I founded a rheumatology Department, So I work as a rheumatologist in Metz Robert Schuman Hospital . I like very much art (paintings, drawings, engravings) but also music, cinema and reading, and observing the nature. I like to ski. As being a host I appreciate when people feel good in my house, as if they were in their proper home, or at a relative.

Why they chose this property

It’s a family house. My father bought it in 1977. It was a very old farm. He restored it during ten years, to make it comfortable. We wanted to ski but not to stay in the ambient of a ski resort, in search of calm and silence, and proximity with the nature.

What makes this property unique

The silence in the village. The proximity with nature, the forest and the meadows just around the village, The view on the valley and on Mont Blanc when you walk up the path, the kindness of my neighbours who all are local inhabitants
