About the host
Hosted by Steve Came
Devon bred and born, from a farming family, I have my own legal consultancy in Exeter, where I live with my wife and two daughters.
Why they chose this property
In 1859, my great, great grandfather, a local farmer purchased a newly built row of terraced cottages in Loddiswell. The Terrace passed down through the farming generations, and two remain in the ownership of my family. This quiet cottage left the family in the 1960s, until January 2019, when I was fortunate to have the opportunity to purchase it.
The name, Loddiswell is believed to derive from the man who had the village well, namely, Lod ! Hence the village is "Lod's Well" or Loddiswell.
Lod's Well is showcased following a Millennium project renovation. Discover it on the right hand side as you walk from the village centre down towards the Avon Mill Garden Centre, next to the river Avon in the valley below the village.
