Alpine High Retreat - Ski-In, Walk to Canyon Lodge - #456

Come enjoy our comfortable, bright, and stylish, open floor-plan home adjacent to Canyon Lodge. Newly remodeled and furnished in a modern alpine vibe. Lots of natural light. Take in the views of The Village Gondola and Sherwin Mountain Range from every window or the deck. Lounge around and relax or ski-in via the Ski Back Trail directly behind the property. Summertime, hop on your mountain bikes to cruise Uptown/Downtown trails (also right behind our place) and ride home for lunch and dinner. Canyon Lodge is less than a 10-minute walk (or a quick 2-minute shuttle ride).

The upstairs master bedroom features a king bed with a Casper mattress, full bath (suite access) and 55" cable TV. The second bedroom (loft with separate door) offers a queen bed and full-over-full adult-size bunk beds as well as cable TV (also great for kids!).

Downstairs, you have a comfy sectional with a full pullout sleeper - in case you want to binge-watch Netflix on the 65" TV. Or cozy up to the gas fireplace and play some classic board games. There's a second full bathroom downstairs as well.

Our open-concept kitchen and dining area feature an island stovetop with an extended counter to eat, gather, and catch up online. On days you feel like cooking, the kitchen is fully stocked with everything you'll need.

Stash your gear in the mudroom or store it at our Canyon Lodge Locker that's included with your rental.

Our complex offers a nice pool (seasonal), hot tubs, game room, and tennis and basketball courts. There is (1) designated covered parking space. Additional spaces are available on a first come, first served basis.

We are super pet-friendly. There's a dog bed, water/food bowls, and treats. Please don't leave your pets alone. We can suggest several good sitters/dog hikers in town.

The Village is just down the road. In warmer months, take the lovely 0.8-mile walk down the Ski Back Trail (out the back door) or stroll down the sidewalk of Canyon Blvd.

The unit was nice, great water filter, bed was very comfortable. The building needs an update. We recommend the Austrian house and the Harmony Brazilian restaurant, which is new in town both are fantastic.

Awesome stay, minutes from Canyon Lodge

The condo is conveniently located near the Cannon Lodge and served as a great home base for our ski trip. We were able to fit 4 adults and 2 kids very comfortably, with plenty of space to spread out during our down time. The kitchen was very well equipped and in great working condition. Would highly recommend to anyone planning their own family trip in the future!

Great decor and comfort

The apartment looks great. Beds are confortable and appliances are new. A 5th chair is really necessary. And it is good to know that there are 2/3 stairs to get there. So better bring small duffles. Hope to go back again. Unfortunately we were forced to leave 1 day in advance because of blizzard threat and we got no discount. It seems to me that weather conditions in such places should be considered.

Summer in Mammoth

This is a clean, beautifully updated condo at Mammoth Ski and Racquet. The beds were super comfortable, kitchen was amazing and loved the floors. Perfect for our family and dog. The location has great views but a long steep walk up from the trolley stop plus very steep stairs to the condo. Pack accordingly if you plan on staying there.

Spring ski get away

Had a great time at this place a super short drive to Canyon Lodge. Very well appointed and very comfortable and was spotless upon arrival. Truly recommend this townhouse, it was fantastic!

We loved it

The condo was great! The location was excellent. We walked to Canyon Lodge and skied back to the condo. We also walked to the town center for dinners. Communication with the property managers was fantastic. The stairs everyone seems to mention didn’t bother us. The only thing to know (as others have said) is the second bedroom is a loft open to the downstairs. It didn’t bother our boys but good to know before you book. We would stay here again. We are a family of five and it was the perfect size. I personally loved watching the gondola, an added bonus.

Perfect for family travel

This place is exactly as the listing. Close to canyon lodge. It is not super spacious but perfect for family of five travel. You need to drive uphill to the property, so prepare your snow chain on a snowy/icy day. Pack light, as they are three flights of stairs before reaching the unit, no elevator!

Not worth the money

There are a few reasons why I’m saying, “Not worth the money.” I will start with the positives. First, the unit is in a great location. You can drive a minute or two and be in town or on the slopes. Now for the negatives. 1 – When packing, pack light because there are three flights of stairs. The first two flights are very steep, which makes bringing up any luggage a pain. 2 – The property looked like it maybe got a wipe down before we got there. Not sure when the last time the owners or cleaning crew mopped the floors and cleaned the rugs, but our feet were filthy after walking through the condo without shoes and socks on the first day. The cabinets were also dirty-looking and looked like they needed a good wipedown to clean the dirt off of them. The bedding also looked dirty. There was dog hair on the master bedding. I understand having dogs on the bed, but you should make sure the bedding looks clean when you’re renting out a place. 3 – You had to strip all the bedding whether you slept in it or not. I would have been OK with this if the bedding had been clean-looking from the get-go. 4 - The other thing I thought was strange was that they wanted only the towels you used to be placed in the shower before you left. You would think all towels would be cleaned for safety purposes before a new arrival.

Cute Apartment

Our experience was great! The apartment was in great shape and served our needs well. A couple of details worth mentioning so future guests will benefit. An early check in was requested, but not honored. No reason given, the building and apartment were vacant. We arrived to Mammoth early after a long drive and would have appreciated early access. We were within contract parameters. Little to no hand soap available. Shampoo, conditioner and hand lotion were available so hand soap seems like a no brainer. The unit was clean, and kitchen items are well stocked.

Amazing & Relaxing

This property was great! Everything we needed was there and very convenient. They showered us with gifts and music on our arrival day and made us feel very welcomed and at home. However, there were a couple things that took my family off guard…. We were not told about all the stairs there were to get to our condo and we had our handicap mom with us. That was very hard and constricting on her. Also, the pictures of the condo on the website made the condo look a lot bigger than it truly was. Our overall stay was pretty great all in all though. We highly recommend!

Stay in Mammoth

The condo is decorated nicely and comfortable. We were unaware that there were 3 flights of stairs that we would need to climb with luggage. That made unpacking really challenging. The microwave had crumbs and food splatter from a previous guest. There was also hair in the shower, which was a little gross. Outside of those few things, the stay was very nice.

Exceptional Condo

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this unit. It was comfortable, clean and tastefully decorated. Everything you need is there! Welcome treats (including for our dogs) was a nice touch. The kitchen has everything you need, truly (even a mixer and a French press)! We loved cooking in the condo. Beds were comfortable. Small balcony has a lovely view of the mountains. Alexa, tvs, Netflix, game console in the loft, all nice touches. Plenty of seating and cozy blankets in the living room. Greatly appreciated as one evening we even had snow. Sadly the hot tubs were closed due to Covid. BBQ’s weren’t as close as we would have liked, there were two by the office which isn’t horribly far away. I believe there were some closer but they seem to have been locked up in the closed hot tub room. That may change once Covid restrictions lift. Be aware it’s 3 flights up. With a toddler and a baby that got a bit old, but we would still stay here again. We didn’t have any issues with parking, 1 garage spot and we had no problem finding first come first served parking spot for the other vehicle. Lovely location, very close to the village and we visited often. We would highly recommend this rental.

Great condo 1 bedroom + loft bedroom

Overall great condo. The 2nd bedroom doesn’t have much privacy with an exposed wall it’s a loft. We went with another couple and they were a bit bummed about that. It’s walking distance to the mountain, super clean, comfy and had everything you need.

Great Location and Everything We Needed

This property exceeded our expectations. The kitchen was nicely remodeled and probably one of the best stocked of any VRBO/rental we've ever stayed. We were there right before the resort opened for ski season but I could imagine this would be a great location for anyone looking to hit the slopes. Bedding was very comfortable and we slept soundly each night. My only constructive criticism is the baseboard and fireplace heating make it a bit difficult to control the temperature (easy to make it too hot or too cold - hard to find the comfort zone) but that's minor. We would definitely stay again. Dog friendly! Overall a wonderful condo.

Great place to spend a week

The property was well maintained, staff was very helpful. Only warning is if you are planning to go to Yosemite you are about 80 miles from Yosemite Valley, even though there is an entrance to the park about 45 minutes from this place.
