My son had graduation after Basic Training. He wanted to spend time with family. This house is not too far from Fort Leonard Wood. Very quiet, cozy. Love this place. Will come back for his AIT graduation.
Good trip. Wish we would have known that the office and outdoor stuff was closed on Tuesday and Wednesday the two days we stayed. So no outdoor activities we could do on the resort. Thankful to have a place to stay in the area. Plenty of room for all.
The location is very pretty and we enjoyed the ability of having plenty of room for family. The cabin is off the main road and missed it on the first pass. Being from CA, I was looking for road signs.
Good news/bad news is that cell coverage, at least for T-Mobile and AT&T, was spotty. The camp WiFi had issues too. So if you want to disconnect this is great.
We were there for my son's graduation from boot camp at Ft Leonrd Wood so didn't do any river activities.
Lastly, there was a note to toss used TP into the trash vs down the toilet. We were there mostly to sleep so not a big issue - beats an outhouse.
I'd stay again if back in the area and hope to take advantage of the river activities.
We came in for my daughters graduation and had a large family able to congregate and celebrate. Waynesville is a very small town, but close enough to the base to be a quick drive. This house is 30 minutes door to door from Nutter Field House on base. We really enjoyed our visit.
We were in town to see our son graduate boot camp and AIT school at Fort Leonard Wood. The location was great. The cabin was spacious and just what we needed for all our family to gather to celebrate. Kelly, our contact, was amazing, very accommodating, and super helpful.
The only complaints are as follows and were very minor:
1) There was a good deal if dog hair on the furniture and floor in the living area and kitchen.
2) The coffee pot had to be cleaned before it could be used.
3) Unsightly construction area within view of the cabin
Even with these issues, we would definitely reserve this cabin again if in the area and would recommend it to anyone attending activities at Fort Leonard Wood.

About the host

Ruby's Landing River Resort is a full service campground. We have 115 acres full of wildlife. We have cabins, full hook up RV sites and primitive camping. We also have 5 mile floats down the scenic Gasconade River. Nothing is more relaxing than a kayak, canoe or raft ride (we rent these) while taking in the sites of beautiful bluffs and the soaring of Eagles. Our little store carries some basic needs such as ice, beer, soda, ice cream and snacks. Cuddle up to a fire (we sell wood too) and roast some smore's (we sell smore packs also) as you catch up with friends and family. We look forward to your stay.
Why they chose this property
The rural setting is perfect for peace and quiet. We have various bird species and a group of deer that have called Ruby's Landing their home. We have 1/2 mile of river access for the fishermen(women) in the family and nice areas to swim. We have a playground, open air pavilion and a full bath house. We also have a laundry facility on site.
What makes this property unique
We are unlike everyone else. We have camping, lodging, River access and peacefulness. We also offer 5 mile floats down the scenic Gasconade River. Rent a raft, canoe, kayak or double kayak and spend the day relaxing on the river.
