Well Located

Loved the location. Very convenient to restaurants, bars, shopping. The unit was well appointed and clean. The only reason for not 5 stars were the roaches in the sink and on the counter. We're from the south and used to some roaches, but there were a lot here--alive and dead.

Good location but inadequate resolution to problems

Our group contained 4 adults and we visited Charleston in September 2023. The location was close to King Street which provided us with a good selection of restaurants and entertainment. The bedrooms upstairs were not cooled sufficiently by the central air or the portable AC units, even with moderate temperatures in September. The portable AC unit was in the hallway and cumbersome to walk around. There were many box fans in the rooms and hallways but they didn't sufficiently move the air to the rooms. On the second day of our stay, we reported to the manager that live roaches were found in the building. They sent an exterminator the next day, but we continued to find live bugs upstairs. The hot water was not working on the first night. A plumber had to be called and didn't arrive until the next day to resolve the issue. A cold shower in the morning was not a fun way to start the day. We also had a rip in the flat sheet of one of the bedrooms. The manager was notified and they sent a person to replace the sheet the next day. We asked for a refund of one night's stay due to the multiple issues found but were only given approximately 60% of one night's fee. We do not recommend this location or the management firm of Stay Duvet.

Bathrooms

The biggest complaint with this property there is no 1st floor bathroom so you have to climb stairs to use the bathroom. 2nd the upstairs bathrooms do not have a regular shower, instead it is a claw tub with shower curtains surrounding the tub. The tub sits high and it is hard to step up and into the tub, this would not be good for older people. Also the shower does not have a place to set your shampoos and soaps you have to keep them on the bottom of the tub and bend over to reach them. The location of the home is close to the college so there are a lot of younger people around in the area and some of them can be loud. Other than these things, our stay was good.

Fun time

We appreciated the location. We easily found our way to restaurants, shopping, and historic sites. We loved the nostalgic atmosphere of the property and its quirky yet charming furnishings and fittings. We enjoyed walking to downtown Charleston and found it quite doable. We appreciated the accommodations despite some minor unfixable issues, such as the tight parking and driveway which was difficult when other renters’ cars were present. We appreciated the conveniences Duvet provided, soaps, tp, detergents, etc. We would stay here again.

Very noisy street!

The street was extremely noisy. I would recommend finding another place. There is no consideration for a place to put your soap and shampoo in either shower. You must put them at the bottom of the tub which is extremely frustrating.

Great location, walking distance to King St, but….

We had 2 cars and the house only had one parking space. It would have been helpful to know that ahead of time. The walkway to the house is a safety issue. The concrete is are broken, uneven, and missing. When we arrived ( and during our stay)the breaker tripped and the upstairs was unbearably hot. There are portable AC window units as well as freestanding fans both upstairs and downstairs which all had to run constantly to keep the temp comfortable and they were incredibly loud. This wasn’t disclosed.

Great, roomy location

The location of this property is great. They have done a lovely job decorating this property. We stayed here with friends and our dog for our annual trip. We walked almost everywhere from this spot. It was a short drive to beaches on Sullivan Island and the Mt. Pleasant area (which has great on-the-water spots for outdoor dining). One thing to note is that if you are not used to city noise, you may want to sleep in the room with the noise-canceling machine! It did not bother us that we did not have one in our room but our friends said they used it. The unit was well stocked and had almost everything we needed. I would definitely stay there again.

Cockroaches

READ THIS!! DO NOT STAY HERE !!! When we got to the property all the lights were on. Now I understand why, the place was full of cockroaches in the lower level. We noticed them after we got to the property the 2nd night with lights off. The 1st one was crawling up my leg from the ottoman. When you look closely to the floor they were everywhere. We are from WI, we don't have cockroaches! I texted the Duvet rentals chat room and a guy came out and put some peanut butter stuff that kills them. The thing was it made it worse. they were dead all over the floor and crawling allover. So I talked to the guy again at Duvet telling him it was worse so they relocated us to the apartment behind this unit for our last two days. We did see only one in the new place but we should have never experienced this. They should have refunded something for our inconvenience. DO NOT STAY HERE!

Birthday getaway

We have stayed several times in the adjoining unit but this was the first time staying in this side. The location is great and we enjoy the neighborhood in the daytime however even though the rules say it has a quiet time that does not happen. People walk up and down the street all night yelling, singing and fighting this went on until about 5am every night.

Great location and well-kept condo!

We loved our time here! It was clean, roomy, and was in a great location. My only two complaints would be that the parking spot is very difficult to manage in a large vehicle, and the kitchen isn't particularly well-stocked if you plan on cooking any meals. For instance, there are no mixing bowls. Overall, a great stay!

Overall the property was located close to restaurants and clean. . The area was very noisy though late at night. We had a parking spot but would advise a small car, parking was very difficult. The bath-tub shower was very difficult to get in and out of.

Nice but noisy

Our family of four thoroughly enjoyed this property, especially its proximity to King Street. It’s well appointed, with high ceilings, generously sized rooms, and nice decor. Unfortunately, the road noise was overwhelming. Had it not been for the sound machine in the master bedroom, my wife and I would not have slept a wink. The exterior of the house is handsome, but the broken sidewalk does detract from the appeal of it. It’s a seller’s market in this area for sure, but I got the feeling that this house was just a tad under the area standard for upkeep. These old houses can be gorgeous if well maintained, and this one is almost there.

Good & Not so Good

The apartments location was good, close to bars and restaurants on King Street. Large trucks are difficult to park but the Property management company was extremely helpful in resolving that problem. If you're an older person, the clawfoot tubs are difficult to get in and out of. The neighborhood was noisy which made it difficult to sleep. The entrance sidewalk was dangerous and in desperate need of repair.

Great location! Missed the mark on cleanliness!

I already summarize to property in the reviews and they are posted this pass week. Not too impressed with this property. has some black mold under the kitchen sink (with foil why foil?) with standing water that has been there forever. Tubs with mold issues and water clogs upstairs and downstairs bathrooms with hair! A waterfall for the upstairs tub to downstairs sink!! it was a huge mess. Plumber came out twice and with a snake!!! Yuck! Lets just say this poor house needs major help and love. Will never rent this house ever again. Thanks.

Beautiful Historic House - Beautifully Decorated!

I travel for work almost 100% of the time and was DELIGHTED to find this beautiful house for me and my dog. Everything about it was comfortable, pristine, and so well decorated - it really felt like home. And the huge 2nd floor balcony was seriously to die for. Clean and historic

We loved the property however we arrive the night after the riots. The city was pretty much shut down with windows boarded up and a few people on the street. It was my husband and son’s first time in Charleston and I really wish they could’ve gotten a better glimpse of what the city is all about. The property itself is lovely. We loved it!
