Great Stay
This was a great cottage to base yourself in the Cotswold’s. The two minute walk to the village was a great feature of this cottage as well as the parking spot. I enjoyed the fire and the beautiful surrounds. I would recommend a stay.

Cute and convenient
Loved the character and the wood fire. Bedrooms upstairs and bathroom downstairs. Not suitable for small children. Ours were 10 and 12, so no problem. The cottage is small but that appeal to us. Off street parking was a bonus. 2 minute walk to the delights of Bourton on the Water

This is a very special Cottage full of history and almost magical with a very warm homely feeling. We loved our stay and the scones cream and jam that was a surprise on arrival. So close to everything very friendly country feel to this Village. Was delighted to meet you Dawn and have a chat we would love to return someday. If you’re looking for a country cottage in a wonderful Village with lots of character look no further. The added bonus is a warm fire for a cosy night in with a local wine. Make sure you visit The Den great service and wonderful Cappuccino’s with a hit of real chocolate at the end just delicious. Karen and Nick

Winter Break at Well Cottage
Myself and my family had a lovely and very relaxing stay at Well Cottage. The property was exactly as we had hoped, full of character and unique English charm. The beams, the creaky floor boards, all fabulous and exactly as you would expect in such an old cottage. The property has been beautifully cared for and the decor is perfect. It is a very cosy space and the wood burner and beautiful inglenook fireplace was a great place to relax at the end of a day sightseeing. The location was fantastic for exploring the Cotswolds, both nearby villages and a little further afield such as Bath and Oxford. The welcome bread and jam was a very welcoming gesture, which we appreciated very much. Thank you for a great stay 😊

Home away from home
This cottage is a little gem with all the charm and modern conveniences that you need for a relaxing stay. The delighful Bette and Dawn were great and nothing was a problem. My husband and I highly recommend this cottage , but not not if you are over 6ft tall as the low beams in the living room can be a hazard.

A great Stay, magical home and a magical town
We stayed a week at Well Cottage and had a wonderful time. We couldn’t have asked for anything better in a holiday stay. The best deep claw foot bath and fantastic hot shower. The Kitchen was well equipped so we had dinner in most nights. The cottage is warm and cosy especially with the fire which we light one night. Beds super comfortable with delicious sheets and towels, excellent quality. We loved meeting Bette, she is one in a million. There was an issue with us getting the key initially because we didn’t have wifi on our phones Home and Away didn’t send us the information on accessing the house keys early enough. All in all a great stay which I would highly recommend and Bourton on the Water is a very special place.

Well Cottage
Well Cottage was the perfect place to spend our time in the Cotswolds. Bette has thought of everything to make this a home away from home. The cottage located is in a quiet neighborhood with just a short walk to the shops and restaurants in the village. The accommodation are the quintessential English cottage.

Loved our weeklong stay in this authentic Cotswold cottage.
Felt as though we had gone way back in time as far as atmosphere but with all the modern conveniences at hand now. Noticed we preferred to stay in many evenings rather than going out just to imagine living there as actual people had done so long ago. Loved the river flowing with the ducks just a block away. Parking on site a real bonus. Lovely hosts also. so, so long ago.

Enchanted cottage!
The most beautiful place that my husband and I have ever had the pleasure of staying. Two minute walk to town. So convenient. Comfy beds with luxurious linens and fluffy towels. Everything that you could possibly need in this quaint cottage. The pictures do not do it justice. And very responsive and sweet hosts. It was such a delight to find scones with clotted cream and chutney, with a darling handwritten card on the dining table. If you are lucky enough to find this available, don’t hesitate. Book it!

Beautiful little cottage
We really enjoyed our stay at Well Cottage. The quaint little house is perfectly equipped with everything you need for a relaxing holiday. The location is ideal in the centre of the village, but at the same time completely quiet. Dawn, together with her mother, quickly takes care of all the guests' concerns and emergencies. Highly recommended for a stay in the area, except perhaps for very tall guests who might have problems with the ceiling height. Translated with DeepL.com (free version)

Well Cottage: Slide Into a Cotswolds State of Mind
This is a fantastic property in a picturesque, story book town in the Cotswolds. A two minute walk from the town center, the cottage is framed by a stunning rose and lavender garden accentuated by a Jacobean well. The property has as much charm inside as it does out. The large stone fireplace immediately drew our eyes and marked a great conversation area with a comfortable couch and wing chairs. A large table in the back of the room served as "mission control" as we determined our daily activities. The kitchen is well equipped and functional. Loved the Keurig-style espresso/latte maker. The bedrooms upstairs were extremely comfortable with beautiful picturesque windows that not only let in the morning light, but also the sounds of Bourton on the Water — and its stillness at night. Natural light abounded with each window -- upstairs and down -- framing a scenic postcard image of the cabin's surroundings. Our host couldn’t have been more responsive. She returned email messages within five minutes during the planning phase, and when we had a little difficulty with the WiFi (read user error), she was in 10 minutes to help resolve the problem. Most important, she was kind and welcoming and offered a number of sightseeing and dining tips (on the dining front, don't miss Vinitzia, an Italian restaurant in town -- it was sensational). Well Cottage is a perfect place to explore all the Cotswolds have to offer. I am already planning my next, lengthier stay.

Great setting
My wife and I certainly enjoyed our time at the Well Cottage. We had chosen it for its great location only about a 2 minute walk to the River in Bourton, and the unique setting it enjoys. dawn was such a wonderful host and was most responsive when we had trouble getting the heat turned on. Bourton is such a great spot itself and was a great location for driving to surrounding villages in the Cotswolds. We would love to return again if we have the opportunity. It is definitely a 10, well beyond the 5 that we were limited to.

Well Cottage is owned by my Mum, Bette. Both my Mum and I run Well Cottage as a business and enjoy sharing this property with others. We love the fact that Well Cottage is an unusual and unique property which has not 'not had its heart removed giving guests a truly authentic experience of modern meeting 16th Century. Once in the cottage you will feel its charm and feel its the peace of time in this detached cottage with an original Well in the Garden and having so much history and character attached to it. It was a "gem of a find" when my Mum and Dad originally bought it back in 1994 and we will never want to sell it!

Why they chose this property

Bourton on the water has so much in itself to offer with its river and beautiful bridges, many boutique style shops, antiques, perfumery and lovely cafe's and restaurants - all within a 2 min walk. Attractions are Birdland, Motor Museum, The Model Village, Hawkstone Brewery and the wonderful Greystones Farm Nature Reserve to walk through. There are many trails around the village to enjoy leading you to other villages nearby such as The Slaughters. The following are some of the headings taken from our reviews over the years: "perfect location within Bourton on the Water", "Lovely quiet cottage", "Beautiful cottage", "Absolutely enchanting", "worth every penny", "loved this cottage, sad to leave", "Well appointed cottage, quiet and peaceful in a picturesque setting"..................and many more.

What makes this property unique

This is a unique cottage because it is one of the oldest detached cottages in the village which has managed to retain its original features and even has a well in the garden which would have been used by local farm hands when Bourton on the Water was mostly farm land.
