About this property

Converted Barn In Pembrokeshire National Park. Upside Down Layout.

Garn Barn has an upside down layout so you can relax and take in the wonderful views.
Two ground floor bedrooms. One with a superking size double and the second smaller bedroom with kingsize bed which. Downstairs wet room & upstairs toilet & shower. There is also a double sofa bed in the lounge.
Fully equipped kitchen with oven, hob, microwave, fridge with ice box, freezer & dishwasher. Washing machine & tumble dryer.
Lovely patio area with table & chairs. Own enclosed garden. Exterior sloped access to the downstairs as well as internal staircase. Suitable for persons with limited mobility. Large parking area.
The barn was originally a tumble down cart shed which has been renovated. It is set on our smallholding. There are chicken (fresh eggs), sheep, goats, & our two dogs
There is direct access to the common land. You can walk straight onto the Preseli hills from the top of our land.
The county town of Cardigan is 15 mins drive away as is the coast at Newport. It is situated in a great location for touring the area.
Although our barn is conveniently situated directly off of the A478, our drive is 200m long so we are well away from the road.
The village of Crymych has all the ameneties you need. There is a butchers, chemist, doctors surgery, spar shop, fuel station to name but a few. There is a swimming pool & leisure centre in the village & also a private gym nearby.

I am quite relaxed but would expect the barn to be left in the condition it was in on your arrival.
Please take any rubbish and recycling home if possible. We have very strict recycling rules in Pembrokeshire.

A great place to stay!
Garn Barn was a fabulous place to stay at and for using as a base to explore the area! It is obviously cleaned and maintained to a high standard and had everything that we needed, and more. The owner was very friendly and responded quickly when contacted. We would definitely stay there again!

Cosy yet spacious
Loved the upside down set up, it was ideal for what we wanted. It felt cosy, yet there was plenty of space. If you are very tall, you may need to be careful with the ceiling beams in the kitchen and in the upstairs bathroom. Had a lovely time - thank you.

Peaceful stay
The property is next door to the owner’s home, but entirely private. It is within striking distance of the coast but also rural walks. It is well equipped- it had everything we wanted.

Cracking rural accommodation
Stayed over on a fishing break with a buddy of mine. The barn was an ideal place to stay and not too far from the river Teifi where we had arranged to go fishing. We found the barn well appointed and with stunning views. Although the fishing wasn’t a success the accommodation was great, suited our needs and the goodie basket left by Teresa our host was a lovely touch. Would definitely return and would highly recommend.

Absolutely Amazing
Amazing property and amazing hosts, there was a fantastic welcome hamper with everything we needed on arrival, this is the most idyllic place for a relaxing holiday in the west wales countryside. The cottage is very well equipped and lovely and clean and spacious. We will definitely return on a regular basis as we loved everything about it. Teresa and Marks animals also added to our enjoyment feeding the lively but lovely goats. Thank you so much for our stay, Karl, Heather, Hannah and Jack

Nice place 👌
Great location. Positives: The property was in a lovely location and the arrival pack was a lovely touch. Negatives: unreliable and weak wifi signal. Very frustrating. This was not as advertised. The owner didn't respond to my message so 24 hours later i called in person to speak to her about how to connect to the unreliable wifi. The description regarding wifi needs to be changed to accurately reflect this.

Review Garn Barn
It was a lovely rural location. It was just a bit hard to locate. Maybe a bigger sign would help? We had a few spiders, but it was miserable outside. And, it is a farm! Nice to have a lower level door to unload luggage. The stairs are very steep, but there's a lovely ramp to the lower level. We enjoyed our stay.

Short stay in Crymych
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Pembrokeshire. The accommodation was exceptional, extremely clean and comfortable with excellent facilities and superbly located for visits to many attractions and beautiful locations in the local area. Teresa very kindly left some milk, eggs, bread and treats for our arrival which was much appreciated. The property is very peaceful and even better than it seems from the photos. The 'upside down' arrangement works really well and adds character. We didnt want to come home!

Upside down heaven
Four of us have just returned from 3 nights in the most wonderful accommodation you could imagine. The quirky upside down layout offers you an upstairs lounge giving the most wonderful views across the countryside. The bedrooms are very large with beautiful big beds which are so comfortable. We were greeted with a lovely welcome pack. Many thanks for that. Every appliance and all utensils were available. Excellent location for all the beaches, none of which were very far away. I would recommend this property to anybody wanting a truly fabulous time. My only gripe - I wish we had booked it for longer. Thank you Theresa for letting us stay in your lovely barn.

Lovely cottage in the hills
Very nice and tastefully decorated barn, spacious and well equipped kitchen, living room with two comfy leather couches and beautiful view over the hills. Bedrooms downstairs with cosy beds, two bathrooms, each with shower. Washing machine and dryer in the kitchen (it doesn't say so in the description). We had a nice stay and liked the Welsh cakes and the other groceries in the welcome package a lot. Teresa was very prompt in the communication before our stay. We didn't meet her at all while we were there which we regretted - she values the guests privacy. Unfortunately we had to use the heating (in August !!) which worked very well to fight the cold and humidity. There's sheep and peacocks on the farm which we visited every evening! Thank you for the great hospitality!

Amazing
My mom and I had a wonderful restful, relaxing week at Garn Barn which was exactly what we we’re looking for following a very hard 18 months. We principally booked for the quiet and private garden space as living in cities (London and Birmingham) in flats we really felt the need to relax in a quiet garden and soak up the vitamin D. The barn is gorgeous with absolutely everything you could ever wish for (and then some) and is spotlessly clean. It has been lovingly done and maintained to a very high standard. The noise of the animals and the rolling fields are a treat to enjoy and the welcome pack very generous. It was also wonderful to get to use some eco-friendly products throughout the week … so much so that we have purchased several online on our return, including the Give a Crap toilet paper 🙂. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Garn Barn and will definitely return.

A relaxing stay amongst the backdrop of the sounds of nature in West Wales
Although the broadband was very poor most of the two weeks, this was expected as per the description detailing this, this was simply a minor irritation. Overall the conversion of the barn is off a very high standard, as well as being fully equipped, simply allowing the upside down accommodation to truly show off the beauty of the countryside surrounding Crymych. Upon arrival we were provided with a welcome pack of fruit, bread etc which was very much appreciated by all. Although the weather can be unpredictable, it certainly didn't deter our activities around Pembrokeshire and Camarthenshire, always somewhere to explore nearby. Regarding trying to follow directions, the sat nav will direct you into Crymych but will drive past Garn Barn. What I did once finding the correct location was to save the coordinates onto my Garmin satnav as a favorite and for two weeks make life a lot simpler, bearing in mind the entrance is from a 60 mph road, so be careful upon slowing down and entering the road from the off-road private driveway. Please note although the owners live next door to the property, you are fully left alone and have full privacy to enjoy your stay at Garn Barn, unless you need to contact Teresa, then she will gladly help you out with any queries you may have. Certainly one of our more relaxing stays in the beauty of West Wales. Thankyou Teresa.

Gastvrijheid

Just as lovely second time
Second year to stay at Garn Barn for autumn break. Lovely property, home from home. Delicious and very generous tasty treats, drinks and fresh vegetables from the owners. An enormous and very comfy bed. A lovely couple, very available if/when needed but not intrusive. Thank you Jess and Ryan for another lovely break. Will hopefully be back to stay again.

Lovely space
The photo is slightly misleading in that this is the view from next door. The view from the bedroom was disappointing, but made up for by the beautiful barn conversion which is to a high standard. The view from the living room is brilliant! The property backs onto common land which is spectacular and great for walks. The manager brought us fresh veg from the polytunnel and left us vegan supplies.

I moved to Pembrokeshire in 2012 to escape the 'rat race'.
I come from the Arundel area of West Sussex. Although West Sussex is a beautiful area of the country, it is quite heavily populated & I decided that I would like to have more space to enjoy my middle age.
Now I spend my days trying to get the smallholding tidied up & enjoying all the things that Pembrokeshire & Ceredigion has to offer.

Why they chose this property

I spent a long time searching for the smallholding. Although there were many similar properties for sale at the time, in really lovely locations, I felt that Maes y Garn had the right balance. It is rural but not remote. There is everything you want in the village of Crymych, which can be reached on foot.

What makes this property unique

The upside down layout makes the most of the lovely views.
