About this property

For Families, Couples, Groups & Dogs 17th Century Cottage with off road parking

November Cottage is a privately owned self-catering detached cottage dating back to the 17th Century.
Recently renovated to a very high standard with slate flagstones in the bespoke kitchen/diner and solid oak flooring throughout the living area. The Cottage is situated near the village of St Kew just off the St. Kew Highway. In close proximity to the town of Wadebridge, Camelford, the harbours at Padstow, Port Isaac, trendy Rock Tintagel, Boscastle and Cornwall's surfers paradise at Polzeath. The village is only a short distance from the breathtaking North Cornwall coastline with its towering cliffs, hidden coves, secluded bays and wide sandy beaches and of course the outstanding natural beauty of the countryside. The motto ' Seven Bays for seven days' resonates in the community and visits can be made to the beaches and bays within your stay here.
The ' Red Lion' village pub/restaurant is opposite. Golf courses including St Kew , St Enodoc and Trevose are also within a short drive from the property.
As you enter the cottage via the porch you are led into the main living area with the central feature being the newly fitted wood burning stove complimented by the solid oak floor. Providing a cosy and homely feel is the large corner sofa in addition providing extra seating are two modern reading chairs. There is a digital television with a basic Sky package and DVD player with a selection of DVDs for visitors use. The room has been dressed with solid oak units and coffee table. Leading from the lounge you access the large open plan kitchen dining room, with beautiful slate flagstone flooring, butler sink and dresser unit. At the far end of the room is a dining table, which seats six and the addition of a pine highchair for our young guests. The kitchen provides everything and family would require in the form of dishwasher, integrated fridge and freezer additional free standing fridge, electric hob and oven, microwave, four slice toaster kettle and a selection of crockery.
At the back of the kitchen there is an additional door that leads you through to another passageway, this provides you access to the garden and the downstairs toilet and a separate utility room is located in this area. The utility room also referred to as the "washroom" is a very good size with additional storage space, butler sink, washing machine, tumble dryer and a good size power shower.
The bedrooms are all of good size and provide adequate sleeping for 6 adults with the addition of two travel cots for our younger visitors. All towels and linen including the cot are provided (however it is requested they are not used for outside the property.)
The oak stairs lead from the lounge to the upper landing where to you find a double bedroom with solid oak bedside units, free standing unit and arm chair and separate walk in wardrobe. Next to this room is a twin bedroom with dressing table and chairs and antique double wardrobe. Opposite the large family bathroom comprising of a large and deep bath, toilet and sink there is master bedroom with vaulted ceiling which has a large antique wardrobe, chest of draws and bedside cabinets.
Externally there are solid wooden double gates which open onto a gravel drive allowing access for easily 3 vehicles to park.
The garden is secured by fencing and has been lovingly named "The Secret Garden" by our children as it is naturally split into two halves by a large tree from which a single swing hangs. The "Secret Garden" is located at the far end of the garden where there is a home build slate bench and a good size lawn area. The upper lawn area again of good size near to the house has a rambling country border of plants and shrubs, this leads onto a large patio area where you can soak up the sun on the rattan garden furniture whist enjoying a BBQ cooked on the built in BBQ area. This patio area also allows access back into the lounge area of the house via a stable door.
The property is only 20 minutes drive from Newquay airport.
Restaurants and quaint pubs are situated in the Hamlets of St Mabyn, Chapel Amble and St Kew.
For the more adventurous a cycle ride from Padstow to Wadebridge along the Camel trail is an opportunity not to miss. Child friendly with places to rest and recuperate on route.
Bodmin and its moor is also close by for those who prefer country walks and rambling.
Other places of interest include the Eden Project, Tintagel Castle, National Lobster Sanctuary and Farm and Birds of prey centres.
A number of Michelin star Chef's including Nathan Outlaw have restaurants and bars in this area. Rick Stein has a number of premises in and around Padstow located near the working harbour.
The property is a must see and must stay for those wishing for a great stay in Cornwall at any time of the year.

Great location for the North Coast
The cottage is clean and comfortable and in a great location, with many interesting places only short distance away. We had a problem on arrival which was swiftly dealt with, the owner getting back to us quickly when contacted. There is a lovely friendly pub just opposite serving good food, which we visited a couple of times during our stay. Although the main A road runs behind the bottom of the garden and can be noisy at times, the actual entrance is set back and has a more quiet village feel. We would certainly recommend this cottage.

Sweet cottage
We had a great stay overall - the cottage was more spacious than the photos would have you believe (very comfortable for 4 adults and 2 kids) and the kitchen was very well equipped. Sadly for some reason the property hadn't been cleaned before we'd arrived, but eventually once we got hold of the housekeeper she came round and was very apologetic. Just a point to note - the drive is extremely narrow; even if it can accommodate multiple cars, you may prefer to park on the road. The fire is a lovely addition but you need to provide your own wood, which can be bought from the garage, a short walk down the road. Overall, would highly recommend, just a shame about the cleaning at the outset.

Short Break With Friends
Had a wonderful time at November Cottage. Near so many attractions, even when the weather is not so kind. The Cottage itself was excellent, had all the amenities required to make life easy to enjoy our holiday. We all said we would definitely book the Cottage again, when we visit Cornwall again.

North Cornwall Base
Great holiday cottage in an ideal location for exploring the North Cornwall coast and its various beaches and villages. Being on the Atlantic Highway meant we were easily able to get to so many places. Despite everything in the press, we saw people carefully observing social distancing and trying to have a safe holiday; in fact, places weren’t that busy. All the eateries we visited were bending over backwards to keep everyone safe. November Cottage was perfect for a family of 5 and the safe, enclosed garden was great for our dog. Thank you for a lovely holiday.

Lovely spacious cottage, lots of outside space.
We've stayed in quite a few cosy characterful cottages which have their own charm but it was really wonderful staying in a place with such a lovely big garden and spacious feel as well as some history and character. We found the property ideally situated for getting out and about to all the places we wanted to visit - Polzeath, Port Isaac and Padstow (via the ferry at Rock) all seemed within such easy distance. We thoroughly enjoyed meals and local beers and ciders at The Red Lion a short walk across the road! and The St.Kew Inn a very short drive / slightly longer walk down the road. The property was clean and simply but pleasantly furnished with really comfortable useable living spaces. Our kids adored the large garden which was all enclosed so we could happily let them play out without having to worry. We had a wonderful holiday thanks Michelle and will definitely be in touch about booking again!

Beautiful cosy cottage in great location.
A lovely, cosy but large beautifully decorated cottage. Everything we wanted was there. Great location too, not too noisy or quiet with a great pub opposite serving good food. Cornwall beaches and coves didn’t disappoint either. Would love to return to November Cottage.

Excellent stay and beautiful cottage
Just returned from a 5 day stay at November Cottage with my husband, daughter and dogs which was excellent! The cottage is located in a great location to visit many attractions around the North coast, but we also visited the Eden project which was only 45 mins away. The cottage was very comfortable, lovely kitchen, well equipped with everything you need. The log burner in the lounge was super cosy, there was a good amount of comfortable seating in the lounge. Beds were very comfy. A lovely garden with great outside seating and bbq. The pub opposite is really nice, the St Kew Inn does amazing food. We visited Polzeath Beach which is only a short car ride away, a great surf beach amazing for families, you can bring your dogs too. Would definitely recommend and return in the future. Michelle is very responsive and is helping return a much loved (but temporarily forgotten) cuddly toy! Thank you.

Beautiful cottage with everything you need
We have stayed here many times over the years. The cottage has everything you need for a family holiday. It is in a great location to visit beautiful beaches or just pop over the road to the friendly pub. Michelle and her family have recently made some great improvements by fitting a wood burner and new windows. I highly recommend a visit.

Very dog friendly home from home
Cosy three bedroomed cottage for 3 and two dogs. Comfortable stay in the middle of Storm Callum. Cottage was nice and warm and very clean with a welcome bottle of wine and some treats for the dogs on arrival - thank you! Only criticism was having to come downstairs to the utility room for a shower and tiptoe through muddy boots and dogs! Easy acces to lovely long beaches for stunning walks and good pubs for evening meal. Can highly recommend the St Kew Inn but advise booking beforehand especially at the weekends.

Beautiful!
What can I say? November Cottage is truly beautiful! The pictures really don’t do it justice. The property is much bigger than I imagined, it really did not disappoint! The owners have thought of everything, it truly feels so homely, decorated to a very high standard, amazing kitchen, super clean bathroom, the gardens were very private and safe for the children and the dog. November Cottage is in a great location and had beaches galore a short drive away. We loved Wadebridge which was only 5 minutes down the road! I wouldn’t hesitate in booking the cottage again and thank the owners for being so informative and letting us stay in your beautiful home.

Lovely property in great spot for seeing the sights
This cottage is lovely and we had a great week there. The property is clean and well looked after and extremely well equipped. The extra shower in the utility is very handy as is the downstairs toilet. The rooms were spacious and perfect for us (4 adults and 2 children). The location is great for seeing the sights such as Padstow and Port Isaac but it’s not too far to hop on the A roads down to St Ives. There is a 24hr Spar just around the corner and larger supermarkets just a short drive away. Michelle (the owner) is easy to get hold of and very helpful. Thanks for a lovely week!

Spacious, comfortable cottage . Ideal situation for enjoying the Cornish coast, winter and summer.
Our family of four , plus dog enjoyed this lovely cottage. Our New Year visit was cosy and comfortable, despite some stormy weather. Many beaches and coastal walks within easy drives, lovely country pubs and amenities close by. This cottage has been tastefully restored and feels like a family home rather than a holiday let. Would happily return for another winter break. Such a lovely part of Cornwall, amazing coastal scenery and numerous opportunities for an active outdoor holiday. Thank you.

We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage and it was ideal for our needs. The cottage is very clean, nicely furnished and well equipped. Hand soap, dishwasher tablets, bin bags etc were all supplied which has not been the case in other places we have stayed. The rooms are spacious, especially for a cottage and the garden was a bigger than we expected, plenty of space to run around. It was also well dog proofed. I would recommend this as a place to stay.

Beautiful Cottage
This property was wonderful in every respect, even down to having a friendly pub right across the road! It was furnished as you would your own home, which immediately made us feel welcome and "at home". The décor was tasteful in every room; the kitchen was very well equipped, as was the laundry/utility room. We were three adults, so the two bathrooms were very convenient. The separate washer and dryer were a godsend and easy to use. Even though we only stayed 3 nights, this is a property we could have happily stayed in for much longer.

Just lovely!
My grownup family plus dogs enjoyed a wonderful week here! This is our favourite part of Cornwall with vast beaches, amazing scenery and the best Cornish pasties! The weather was very windy and a bit damp at times but thankfully the cottage was extremely comfortable, clean and well equipped, and felt homely. I can imagine that in warmer weather we would all enjoy being outside in the secure garden -the dogs certainly did! In fact we loved it so much that we are actually in the process of looking to book next year once we've agreed dates. Thank you Bennett family for sharing your cottage!

About the host

Hosted by Michelle Bennett

Host profile image
Hello, thank you for taking the time to view November Cottage. To give you some background "The Bennett Family" are actually Michelle and Tony and our three children Ashleigh, Danielle and Anthony. We are a busy family of five who love being outside and Cornwall hits the spot for us every time! Our children have been lucky enough to enjoy the cottage for several years so we have tested the entertainment for them throughout their ages. Now we see them enjoying it as young adults with their friends and partners. We currently live in Essex whilst our youngest child completes his education however who knows where we may end up once they have grown up and flown the nest.

Why they chose this property

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!!!!! We began our search for a family holiday home after having spent a Christmas in Cornwall. We all instantly fell in love with the area and what it offered us as a family. We viewed many properties and spent days driving around Cornwall, just when we thought we would never find our ideal property we stumble upon November Cottage, and it really was the last viewing on the last day! From the moment we entered the cottage we were hooked, they say when you are viewing properties you "just know" well that was very much how it was for us. We could see our family using and making memories there. In addition to the spacious living room, kitchen and 3 double bedrooms we viewed the house on a sunny day, the patio and BBQ area added additional fuel to our love for the place. Once we had removed our personal feelings for cottage we viewed it from a practical aspect, were we near enough to amenities? And there again the property hit the nail on the head, opposite a pub, doctors surgery, 24 hour Spar within walking distance, good access to Wadebridge, Padstow and the beaches.
We see November Cottage as a place where we can make memories as a family and eventually leave it to our children for them to enjoy as they grow. We also hope that other families and friends can create memories there too.

What makes this property unique

The property has been sent up to feel like home from home, we have tried to provide everything a person may need from plastic cutlery and bowls for our younger guests to serving platters, champagne flutes and bucket for our adults. We pride ourselves on the quality of the linen and products within the cottage. We base our choices on what we want out of the property ourselves as a family and hope that our guests feel we have achieved that.
