Excellent vacation home very close to Hayward for all Birke activities! Pet friendly and also fully equipped kitchen for home cooked meals, staying home with our pet was important to us!
We love this property. It’s perfect for our kids and grandkids to enjoy. We appreciate that we can also bring our dogs with us. They love swimming in the lake. We look forward to staying there again next year.
We enjoyed our stay at this home on Nelson Lake. The place was ready on time, clean and furnished with all the necessities and more for our stay. The cabin was as advertised and we would stay there again.
We had a great time! Close to many small towns for shopping, great fishing, boating, kayaking, nice places to eat at, lots of wildlife and beautiful views. Make sure to bring bottled water high iron in the water, bring extra bath towels, washcloths and hand towels (not enough),and hand soap for kitchen. Overall great place and we would stay again.
This was as advertised. A peaceful and very nice lake home. We loved the location and enjoyed what both the lake and Hayward had to offer. So many positives with this vacation spot. What would even make it better is the addition of a washer/dryer and water softener with iron filter. Thank you for having us.
We were there 3 years ago it looked the same. Had a Kerig now that was nice . didn’t have any issues
My sisters rented a few doors down an aunt and sister in law rented a couple of miles away. It worked out well. Use to be a restaurant/bar at the end that was nice but was changed to a private resort ( we knew that ahead of time) missed that.
Added a dog at the last minute but was not a problem! Overall it was a good time
Beautiful 4 bedroom home and location (2 bdrms up/2bedrms down with fully exposed walkout basement, gorgeous views, adorable decor, privacy (dead end road), peaceful, accomodating host/manager met all of our needs (a beautiful cooler/water filter system) and the manager filled twice with bottled H20, and took the garbage! Nice private dock, yard and fire pit! Really, no complaints! The only concern was a swimming beach access on the property. With several people with disabilities, we could not swim or wade from our shore (boulders for erosion control with steep bank). Would have loved and really missed a small beach (my whole family are part fish! lol). However, a few miles down the road toward Hayward was a gorgeous public boat landing and beach! The only hassle was loading/unloading all of our gear. All in all...a great vacation!!!
The photos don't do this cabin justice! Everything was better than expected. Beds were comfortable, however the kids would have preferred bunks (4 girls, 2 per room). Plenty of space for everyone to spread out. The kitchen was well stocked, including a crockpot, high end blender, roasting pan, etc. Nice gas grill as well. Per other reviews, the iron is very noticeable in the water, however they did provide drinking water and the smell was not as bad as you would expect. As for outside, we enjoyed the use of the kayaks, put a few of our own hammocks up in the trees and spent as much time as possible relaxing. The lake was too weedy for our kids near the shore/dock, but we brought our own boat and rented a pontoon from a nearby resort so we spent every day cruising the expansive lake and beaching on Big Island for swimming fun. We loved how close we were to town, trails for our ATV (plenty of parking for trailers) and how close we were to resorts for a quick stop via water or ATV. Amy was easy to work with, great at communication, and very welcoming. We loved our stay and would book again!
Property was set up very nicely. Beds were very comfortable. Lacked hand towels in bathrooms. No outside garbage cans. In a week you acquire a fair amount of trash. Saw neighbor and offered to pay him to allow us to add to his trash cans since we were uncomfortable leaving it on the porch as suggested. The bedroom carpets all had significant amount of pet stains on them. The oven and stove could use a good cleaning as well.
Be aware that the water is maybe safe to drink but I wouldn’t. It was quite brown. Be sure to bring drinking water with you.
The location was fabulous. The pier was nice as well
We enjoyed our stay. Three siblings and our spouses. Property was very clean, the kitchen was well equipped for our needs and the cabin had plenty of room for all of us.
Great property and layout for families! Everything on the listing was listed accurately! VERY CLEAN & gorgeous views of the lake. We for sure would stay here again.
This was ag great home for a vacation. Very clean and well laid out for multiple families to stay. Plenty of room upstairs and downstairs. Great views of the lake and not a bad decent to the lake and dock. Multiple things to do at the home, firepit, kayaks, games, grill and TV. Highly recommend this VRBO.
This is the 3rd time our family has stayed at this property, it’s a great place and we’ll surely rent again. The large television in the lower level family room is awesome for family movie night and the high speed internet ensured our 3 teenagers weren’t deprived of social media (insert sarcasm).
For newcomers to the property: the tap water is moderately rusty (from sediment, minerals) so we always bring a large quantity of bottled water with to drink, brush our teeth, to cook, etc.
The view/easy access to Nelson Lake, along with the spacious back yard and large fire pit, make this property second to none. Lastly, bring a fair amount of bug spray, as the mosquitoes are ferocious at dusk.

Our family spent many summers on Nelson Lake, and our memories are numerous. When the opportunity opened up to spend more time on this beautiful fishing lake for generations to come, our family took it. We have no regrets and love how much the kids love coming and continue to make beautiful memories for themselves.
