About the host
Hosted by Donald Dole
Hello! We are D.J. and Travis, your hosts at Villa Katrin. We live in Honolulu Hawaii during the winter months, and in Evia Greece during the summer. We both have Greek heritage, with families from Athens, Kalamata and Crete. We have been traveling together to Greece for over 25 years. No matter where in the world we visit, we always seem to return to our beloved Greece. It is the place where we both feel immediately at home.
Because we reside on the opposite side of the planet for each half of the year, we have a kind of two-sided perspective. As residents of Hawaii, we have the ingrained Aloha Spirit of sharing and appreciation. Island dwellers naturally tend to look out for each other. This is true in Hawaii as well as Evia. As Greeks, we feel a deep connection to the ancient history and hospitality that define Greece.
In the fall of 2018 we made our first visit to Villa Katrin. Not only did we fall immediately in love with the home and the village, we knew that this special place could be shared with others in a way that honors the history of the land and the family that resides here. We are able to open the Villa for a limited number of months each summer to share this special home. Our wish is to provide an experience that provides the intimacy of a family home.
Our goal is to provide travelers an experience not offered in many places. We want to give our guests the chance to slip into a foreign lifestyle for just a few days and to fall in love with this special place the way we did. We have a home where you can come to and truly feel you are somewhere else in time-- a unique experience-- not just another stay in a high end hotel or resort with elevators, and people everywhere.
Food Vacations are popular and are gaining in interest as travelers are looking for something different. At Villa Katrin we provide the opportunity to learn how to cook some of the most incredible dishes on the planet.
We look forward to your stay.

Why they chose this property
Villa Katrin offers a rare opportunity to experience the true heart of Greece. A short
drive from Athens, located on the second largest island in Greece, you will find yourself in the quiet and beautiful countryside village of Katheni. With a population of about 150, this
quaint village is very special. The Greek Orthodox Church is the anchor of the village
which hosts a coffee shop, three family restaurants, a bakery, pharmacy and mini-market.
Many tourists are now traveling as a group and all with different needs. We understand this and give you the options to create the holiday you want. You choose the experience.
The nearest town is about 20 minutes away.
