This house well served our needs. Lovely decor! Expectations were well outlined prior to the stay. We didn't realize the house sat on a fairly busy street. Otherwise...I would recommend it!
Great base camp for activities in the Traverse City area. Good proximity to downtown TC, Suttons Bay, Sleeping Bear Dunes. Views of sunrise in the AM were great. Cozy and clean.
Great location! Close to everything you want. Great view of the Bay and fantastic sunrises, worth getting up early for. Comfortable and spacious house. Great host.
We were four high school friends traveling to celebrate our 65th birthdays. First of all, the location was perfect for branching out to explore the beautiful sites around Traverse City. Nature, wineries, restaurants & shopping are all close. It is located off a very busy highway and you do need to cross that highway if you want to access the dock and sit out by the water. I want to address the issue of cleanliness. At first glance the home seems neat and tidy, but we soon realized that there were cleanliness issues and that the home needed a good cleaning. There was bird doo doo on the front porch chairs, so we never sat there to look out over the bay. The cushions were scrunched and worn down. The porch needed cleaned and we walked through spider webs to enter the house. Ok, so that kind of stuff happens and would be understandable, but the inside, the house needed the same kind of attention. The throw rugs were dirty, baseboards and windowsills were dusty and dirty, inside of the dishwasher was dirty, the sofa smelled like pets, there was spilled food on the bar stools that were covered in a long furry covering. The Keurig coffee maker was broken and the other coffee maker dripped so slowly that it was not useable. There was an inadequate amount of bath linens. The back porch/yard displayed the same lack of cleanliness & attention, so we never sat out there. All issues could be easily fixed by owner, but for these and other cleanliness issues, we would not recommend.
My family of five (including our three year old dog) stayed here for five days for a wonderful experience. The location was practically perfect because you could see the beauty of Grand Traverse Bay. The location also was so close to all the things we love about Traverse City. The construction didn't bother us one bit because the distance let us navigate around the affected areas.. The host was extremely helpful and navigated flawlessly through any problems that we had. Although the house is across from the water access, it was extremely easy to get across with plenty of time for all ages to do it as well.
We drove up from Alabama for our grand daughters wedding. After a long day of driving we found home again.
Gary's place was easy to access and has everything you will need to make your first night as well as the rest of your visit comfortable and enjoyable.
The view of the bay from the front porch alone is worth the visit and to have swans come visit was a major score. We don't have wild swans in our area any longer. The first morning the bay was completely hidden by a thick layer
of fog. The second morning was crystal clear and one of the most spectacular sunrises I have seen in some time. The evenings on the porch are nice also. At times the traffic noise is a bit loud but some music can help with that problem.
The house is great through and through and well appointed.
Nice furnishings, the kitchen is well stocked and the beds are great.
The home being convenient to town is a plus too.
Contact Gary if you need lodging in the Traverse City, Michigan area. You will be thankful that you did.

Not so far from home after all!
Everything was perfect during our 4 night stay between Christmas and New Year's. The well-appointed home was clean and all of the appliances and electronics were modern and functional. The living/family room was spacious and the furniture was comfortable - the bedrooms were as well. Loved the picture window overlooking west bay. We spent hours playing board games at the dining room table. The location of the home is great - with quick access to TC and/or north to the rest of the Peninsula. Our host, Gary, was wonderful from the get go - from the booking process to our departure. We'll be back!
Traverse City is a wonderful area to explore. The view from the house is lovely. For me, the only drawback was getting to the water required crossing a busy road. Driving around the area, I realized that most of the houses are not lakeside though. The owner is very easy to work with and quickly answered any of my questions.
This is the third year I have stayed at this property. It is clean and comfortable. The waterfront is exceptionally nice. It is conveniently located to Traverse City shopping. the front porch is very relaxing to sip coffee and watch the summer rise and fall.
We had a wonderful stay! It was the perfect location for everything we wanted to do. The house was very clean and spacious for our family of five plus our dog. At the house, we loved sitting on the front porch and on the dock.
We very much enjoyed this property. Quick drive to Traverse and many fun options on Leelaunau. The house was very tastefully renovated, space for our family, and well stocked kitchen. We enjoyed coffee on the porch each morning, while our boys enjoyed swimming off of the dock and playing soccer in the front yard. Great stay and host to work with - this family takes great care of their vacation home!
We enjoyed our stay in Gary's home for our first visit to Traverse City. The location was great!
The home was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed for the week. Gary checked in once we arrived and was available if we needed anything. We enjoyed the private dock for swimming and the location to downtown Traverse City, Suttons Bay, and many wineries was perfect. We would stay again!!
What a great place to stay. The location is convenient to get to so much that the area has to offer. Loved the drive up and down the coast. Beautifully updated and comfortable for us and our family dog. Had everything that we needed to feel like home for the week. Looking forward to coming back!
We had a great stay! It's the perfect location for visiting wineries, downtown Traverse City or Suttons Bay. The home is very clean inside and nicely decorated. Love the mix of wood and tin ceilings throughout the main living area.
I love home makeover shows and this was like entertaining a home after a really great home makeover. Great wow factor, so fresh and clean and modern interior decoration. Beautifully done but still has comfort of home and that lake life feel. Kitchen was well stocked with dishes and pans for cooking at home, burgers on the grill. We also liked the location for exploring to the north or heading into Traverse City. Beach is rocky as described so grab some swim shoes. Still a great area for swimming and the dock was also spotless and easy for sitting out watching sunset or swimming. Road is a bit busy but we got use to the pace and had no problem. A/C cooled the house nicely. Owner sent me a text after we checked in and answered any questions immediately. We would definitely stay again.
This home is in a great location for visiting both Traverse City and the Sutton’s Bay Area and beyond. Home is very clean and very well stocked with essentials in the kitchen and bathroom. Owner was easy to deal with!
I rented this property for my sister’s bachelorette weekend, and it was perfect! Prior to our arrival, I was nervous it would be crammed considering we had the max amount of 8 girls; but it was so spacious- the many mirrors around the place, the 2 bathrooms, and large bedrooms made it very easy for all of us to get ready at once! The place was very clean and beautifully renovated. We laid out on the dock one afternoon and were able to dip in the water right there! We also had a great time hanging out at the fire table on the dock porch until late at night. It was along the main route right between TC and all the wineries on the Leelanau peninsula which made it a convenient location for our plans to both areas. M22 is a busy route, but is also the only road directly on the water so it can be expected for any place with such a great view and access to the lake. Overall, a great time and great communication with the owner. Would recommend!
My family and I (6 adults and 1 dog) had a great time here this July. Gary was a dream to work with; he responded to questions and concerns immediately. The home is lovely with many amenities; it has a nice open arrangement linking the front room, dining room, and kitchen easily, and the appliances are great. The view out the front window is spectacular no matter the time of day.
The location is wonderful as well. You are just minutes from Sutton’s Bay and many other great little towns. My family likes to visit Sutton’s Bay, Glen Arbor, Leland, and Empire; none of the towns is even an hour’s drive away. The drive into Traverse City is smooth and relatively quick depending on traffic, but we had no delays.
I did have two concerns though: First, although the house is air conditioned, there are only two wall air conditioners. One is between the front room and dining room, and the other is in the main bedroom at the end of the hall. The two bedrooms on the sides of the hall get no cool air and are quite warm. The second concern is my own fault. I was hoping for a sandy beach and failed to confirm that. If you look at the pictures closely, you will see boulders along the beach, and once one is down the ladder to the water, there are many rocks, but then there is a nice sandy bottom.
All in all, we had a wonderful time.
