Grandpa's Cabin - great family retreat with a view

Welcome to Grandpa's Cabin!

Located in a quiet Duck Creek subdivision and only short 8 miles from West Yellowstone/YNP west entrance, this 7-bedroom, 3-bath private home is perfect for a large family, snowmobile or ski group.
This unique and spacious home has enough beds to accommodate up to 15 people and features an open living space with 2 fireplaces and spectacular views of Duck Creek pond, fully stocked kitchen and another family room with a gas fireplace and a pool table.
A fire pit on the large back patio is a great gathering place at the end of the day for s'mores and stories.
An immediate access to many summer & winter activities allows our guests to enjoy all the beauty of the surrounding area, from biking, hiking, fishing, Hebgen lake recreation, snowmobile trail riding, snowshoeing and cross country skiing in the national forest.

Grandpa's Cabin is a great place to rest and relax after a day filled with outdoor activity! So don't wait and reserve your stay today!

- We have a 60 day cancellation policy. Travelers who cancel at least 60+ days before check-in will get back 100% of the amount they've paid. If they cancel between 31 and 60 days before check-in, they'll get back 50%. Otherwise, they won't get a refund.

Hunting Cabin -style living

Don't expect elegant - rather rugged hunter's cabin style accommodations. Quite comfortable for a big family gathering.

Yellowstone 2023

Location, Location, Location…Great location close to the YNP entrance approx 8 miles. Remote feel but not in isolation. The cabin faces East and has magnificent sun rises over looking the fishing lake. However, there are no drapes or curtains in the main living room which faces East to shield the rising sun. The sun rise will make sure you don’t over sleep. Makes brkf time and cooking little hot in the summer. Other than a few minor housekeeping issues overall really great and would stay there again.

Grandpa's cabin

Beautiful place. Upstairs is good for someone with small kids because of the layout and there is a small bathroom. Lots of beds all over. Wish WIFI worked in more than the game room. Repeaters would be helpful. The view from the patio was wonderful. Overall, very nice.

A Merry Christmas

We enjoyed a wonderful white Christmas at this cabin! We enjoyed watching beautiful swans and playful otters on the water. We appreciated the cleanliness of this cabin and also how well it was stocked!

Large home in a beautiful location

The house was big enough for 9 of us to spread out and have our own spaces. Easy parking access for all of our cars. Ample bed rooms and enjoyed the main living space along with the family room. It was nice to have the kids play and watch tv in the family room and the adults were able to enjoy the views and quiet of the main living room. The home is well equipped with supplies and everything worked as expected. The kitchen has a generous supply of pots, pans and dishes. There is also a supply of fishing rods along with a canoe and small row boat. The views out the window are stunning and the pond is full of very large brown, cutthroat and brook trout who are very willing to eat a fly. Super easy and quick access to Yellowstone Park. The neighborhood was very quiet and peaceful! We had a great time and hope to visit again.

Cabin with Pond Near Yellowstone National Park

We greatly enjoyed our stay at the cabin with the gorgeous pond right outside the deck/backyard. Unfortunately, we didn't see any moose on the property, but we found plenty of bison, elk, deer, and pronghorn in Yellowstone National Park. We loved hearing the honks of the Canadian geese on the pond and watching the ospreys, golden eagle, bald eagle, ducks, etc. The other houses in the neighborhood are spread out, so there is a sense of privacy on the deck. The highway is just down the street, close to be convenient but not obtrusive or loud. The house was comfortable and very clean but could have used more lighting in the kitchen and entertainment room, replacements for scratched pots/pans and broken dumpster lock, and some niceties like fluffier towels and a laundry basket. The heat, shower and smart TV worked fine, although we missed getting the local channels, and the house cooled off in the evenings by opening the sliding doors for a breeze. The WiFi and cellular were spotty but mostly worked fine in the entertainment room. The laundry center was very appreciated, as we didn't have to pack as much on our trip. The property was just fifteen minutes from West Yellowstone, the western entrance to the Park and other hiking opportunities. Overall, we had a fun and relaxing time and recommend the Grandpa's Cabin in West Yellowstone to all.

Beyond our expectations

Beyond our expectations! We went with a group of three families and one single. There were 14 of us and we had a great time and enjoyed the views and prime location into West Yellowstone

Beautiful view!

We truly enjoyed our stay at Grandpa’s cabin! The kids loved canoeing on the pond and fishing for trout. Location was perfect, away from the hustle and bustle of the downtown area but close enough to restaurants, shops, and the Yellowstone entrance. We were also close to prime fly fishing grounds - Madison River, and other lakes and streams to catch trout. We saw 2 River otters in the pond while canoeing everyday! The house itself was spacious, the bathrooms were clean and recently updated. Beds were comfortable and we enjoyed having enough space for 14 people. It never felt crowded! We would definitely stay here again!

Perfect location to YNP. Quiet setting to relax with lots of room for our 11 family members.

Marta was extremely helpful from the minute we arrived. She gave us lots of suggestions for things to do in the area, which we greatly appreciated . The pool table , games provided, and the canoe kept everyone busy.

WOW!

This was an amazing property! It looked lovely in the listing, but when we arrived, it was even better than we expected! It was a perfect space for our family of 15. Even though there were a lot of us, we never felt crowded. The back deck was spectacular- it overlooked a beautiful lake with snow capped mountains in the distance. We saw buffalo and eagles and deer. The fire pit was great for roasting marshmallows. The kids (and the adult men) loved the pool table. Lots of kitchen amenities and a nice grill and picnic table. We expected to spend most of our time in Yellowstone, but the property was so beautiful and relaxing that we didn’t want to leave. Thank you so much! Highly recommend this property!

Yellowstone vacation

The property was close to Yellowstone and had great views and the layout of the cabinet was great. Although it was realtively clean, the drawbacks were that things were not maintained. The back sliding glass door was extremely difficult to open, the upstairs shower lacked a curtain, the carpets were dirty and stained and ripped, the lock on the front door opened only sporadically. Although there were many games and fishing items, if they were electronic they did not work as the batteries were dead. There was a mouse in the wall as well. Being in the wilderness this would not be unexpected but when we went out to look at the outside of the building where we heard the mouse, the wall was rotten and breaking down at the roof line.

Wonderful Escape in a beautiful location

This super roomy home sitting next to picturesque pond was a bit hit with the family. There was plenty of space for our big family and we spent as much time outside next to the water and wildlife as we did inside. The wildlife, the night sky, the relaxing sounds coming in from the pond, the sunrise through those big windows, plenty of space for the family to talk and laugh and eat about the adventures we had that day... you will love this place. We did!

A Little Slice of Heaven

This was the first time my family (mom, aunt, brothers, sisters and spouses) came together since Covid, and mom's recovery from cancer. Grandpa's Cabin was just what the doctor ordered. Great location in proximity to Yellowstone, and the view from the backyard was perfect! There was plenty of space for the eleven of us in and outside. Thank you for making this first time back together so great!

Great location and perfect for a large family

This was our first experience traveling together as a large family, 11 people total, 6 adults and 5 children. The house is within an easy drive to the West Yellowstone gate entry. We really feel coming "home to a home" at the end of day was a wonderful experience. The house easily accommodated all of us. We loved being able to lounge and play together amid beautiful views after busy days in the park. We are thinking of repeating our large family travels, and if we do, Grandpa's cabin will be the "great standard" by which we choose another VRBO home. You won't be disappointed to stay at Grandpa's Cabin.

Lovely stay at cabin on beautiful lake

This 'cabin' (more of a house, really) is on a quiet pond with lots of birds including geese, ducks and swans. The cabin is well appointed and very comfortable . We loved staying in the loft bedroom with its view of the lake- what a terrific way to wake up as the light breaks over the mountains in the distance and onto the lake. Kitchen was spacious and well equipped. Loved the patio- great for sipping coffee and watching the birds, also made for terrific stargazing as there is almost no light pollution- Milky Way was dazzling and saw shooting stars! Easy trip into Yellowstone and loved our stay at Grandpa's Cabin.

Perfect getaway at an even better location

15 of us stayed to have a private wedding with family and friends and everything was perfect. The cabin was cozy and there was plenty of room for all couples. Everyone that went definitely wants to come back!
