Was a nice place. Weather was okay. The back yard that leads to the outdoor shower was saturated, Unfortunately it rained the week before but it was a disappointment

Clean, comfortable, and relaxing stay
Lovely house for your beachy getaway. Clean and well kept, 2 bedrooms with combined kitchen/living room, a sun room, small enclosed front porch, pleasant outdoor shower for after-beach and busy shower times, and spacious rear deck are all anyone needs. Walk to the beach is an easy ten minutes. Owner Irene was unfailingly pleasant and helpful in all communications before and during our stay. Recommended with pleasure.

Summer beach living
This is our second visit to this sweet cottage and it only gets better. Highlights were morning tea on the spacious back deck as we listening to and observing several different birds including a Scarlet Tanager! The kitchen is fully equipped making it easy to create dishes using local fresh seafood. It is sweetly lit space that is clean and fully stocked. We look forward to another visit next summer!

Great location and cute as a button!
The house had everything we needed for a perfect beach vacation getaway! Irene's cottage is exactly as described (even better than the pictures) and is a very comfortable place to stay. We had a great Father's Day get together on the large back deck. The spacious outdoor shower is a great option that should be tried. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. This house is in a quiet neighborhood and a short walk to Scarborough beach. We went to Chair 5 to experience the rooftop bar - would highly recommend. We love Narragansett and would definitely stay at Irene's home again!

Comfortable, relaxing cottage!
We all had a wonderful stay. The cottage is extremely comfortable and had everything you’d need to make for a relaxing vacation. The only thing we would suggest is some beach chairs as we are out of towners and beach chairs on a plane probably would be a bit difficult 😉 There’s some great restaurants in the area, highly recommend Matunuck Oyster Bar and Monahan's Clam Shack. Beach is a good long walk but well worth the trek. The porch and outdoor shower was such a treat! Thank you Irene and hope to visit again.

A Real Gem!!!
We had such a great time in Narragansett!!! Irene was the perfect host too. The house had everything we needed. The house is so adorable and in the best location for the beach and all activities Narragansett!! We immediately felt at home and when we weren't at the beach, we enjoyed spending some "foggy" days just relaxing in the house!! The location was perfect for exploring the surrounding areas: Galilee, Jerusalem, Wakefield, Kingston , ferry to Block Island etc.....We would return again in an instant!!! There is still so much we want to see and do!!! Thanks for a great week!! What a gem!!!

WONDERFUL
First time using Vrbo and visiting Rhode Island and am extremely pleased with both. The beach cottage is adorable, very cozy, with a fully stocked kitchen and the gas grill was great to cook our own meals during the week. A nice walk to the beach, spent most of the day at beach, came back to outside shower which is a huge plus, rinse off ,eat dinner and then go back for an evening walk on the beach. Any questions I had, Irene got back to me immediately. Highly recommend and we plan to visit again next year! Wonderful stay.

A cozy beach cottage, close to everything.
This gem of a house had everything we needed for a perfect beach vacation. Uncluttered, clean and nicely decorated, it is a very comfortable place. The cozy front porch is adorable and the large back deck and yard gave lots of space to relax. You must take advantage of the hot water outdoor shower, it is so spacious! The kitchen was stocked with high quality pots and pans. We had everything we needed. This house is in a quiet neighborhood, close to beaches, restaurants and shopping. We love Narragansett and would definitely stay in this house again. It doesn’t disappointment!

Perfect vacation beach house!
House was very clean and well stocked with cleaning supplies. The air conditioning and laundry facilities (washer and dryer) certainly made this vacation much more enjoyable. So wonderful to sleep in temperature controlled environment, as opposed to the often very warm and muggy summer nights in RI. Thank you! We absolutely hope to return next summer!

I love this house and I love this area!
Well I own the house,. My family has been going to Narragansett for 20 years now and the changes have been great. There is a beautiful hotel nearby that has A beautiful setting for drinks or a meal. The Belmont food market and Stop and Shop have a great selection of food, I always buy fresh produce at the farm on Route 108 and buy corn and tomatoes (they have a food truck which is yummy. We made a trip to the lobster boats to buy lobsters for dinner. I had great meals at Matunevk Oyster Bar, Crazy Burger, Pasquale's Pizza, Chair 5, and Iggy's and sometimes I go to Brickleys on Main Street in Wakefield for ice cream. I like to catch a movie at the theater in South County Commons. While I am in Narragansett I join Luxe health club to take exercise classes. I also like to walk to the lighthouse at Pt. Judith and look at the houses in those neighborhoods I pass. I walk to the beach every day I am there and make a commitment to go in the water. I painted a bedroom, bought a few new pieces of furniture and was hoping to get the outside of the house painted but the weather would not cooperate and that will have to wait until August.

Wonderful getaway steps from beach
I enjoyed my second visit to 14 Frances last week. I am a Rhode Islander; my family has been vacationing in Narragansett for several generations. Irene's beach cottage is in a safe, quiet beach neighborhood. The location is wonderful - easy walking distance to the beach or the convenience store at the top of the road. Grocery store, Block Is Ferry, restaurants within minutes by car. The cottage itself is well appointed with everything you might need. Irene is very attentive and responsive if there is ever a question, issue or problem. I will return. Thank you for another wonderful, peaceful vacation!

Wonderful Beach cottage that makes you feel right at home
My husband and I stayed the month of July and we still wished for more time to do everything the area offers . Our two daughters and their friends visited frequently and it was close enough to Connecticut so family members and friends could spend time with us. Trips to Newport, the surrounding small towns and roads for some great antiquing and of course Atwell's Ave. in Providence for some great Italian food. Think meats, cheeses, fresh pasta and stuffed squash flowers! Delicious bakeries to cart home dessert. We had beautiful beach days and loved washing away the salt and sand in the new outdoor shower with rain head. The home is tastefully decorated and the beds very comfortable. The layout of the cottage makes the best use of the space and we really enjoyed the front porch for reading and coffee. The back enclosed porch and the large outside deck with comfortable seating made entertaining a breeze. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking and the area restaurants are too numerous to mention but here are a few worth visiting. Plum Point, Two Ten Oyster Bar , Mama Luisa's in Newport and of course the Coast Guard House to share a bottle of wine while sitting outside and watching the sunset. Irene is a very responsive owner and her love of the house shines through. Great place, great fun and great memories were made. Thanks for sharing!! Kathy and Tom

WE WILL BE BACK!
The house was well maintained, clean and provided everything necessary for a wonderful week at the beach. I've rented quite a few houses in Scarborough and this one is a standout. The deck on the back of the house provided lots of outdoor living space and we spent most of our time out there. We instantly felt at home in this cozy house. Definitely renting again!

Beyond our expectations!
We're a family with two grown up daughters (13 and 16) from Amsterdam, The Netherlands. We have rented this house for one week from August-3 till August-10 2013 to relax after our tour to Washington, Philly and Boston. We already loved the pictures but in reliality it was even better! The bedrooms were comfortable, the kitchen fully equiped, the washer and dryer very convenient. The great back deck and garden were superb. The Weber BBQ the outdoor shower, it's too much to mention. The enjoyable walk to the beautifull Scarborough beach approx. 600m. We had a really unforgetable stay at Narragansett, one which was far beyond our expectations. Moving on to New York! Regards!

More than expected!
My two children and I rented this adorable house just a week ago and were pleasantly surprised by all it had to offer. When you pull into the driveway you are charmed with two huge blue hydrangea bushes on either side of the front door. The bedrooms were comfortable and my kids slept on the futon sleeper on the enclosed back porch. This became their little area the whole vacation. The appliances are modern with a frontloading washing machine and dryer. Plenty of places to eat - at the counter, the table on the back porch or the table on the spacious back deck. If you want to relax there is a hammock out back! Our favorite part, believe it or not, was the outdoor shower on the side of the house. It's the perfect thing for hosing down those sandy little ones after a day at the beach! We enjoyed ourselves immensely and would most definitely rent again!

A very cute house - Beds need to be updated!
While the house if very cute and exactly how it appears in the photos, there are a few items worth noting. Because the house is on the small side, the large furniture makes the house seem cramped. The two double beds are badly in need of updating, as they are very uncomfortable due to the sagging middle. I didnt last through one night in the bed because of this and ended up on the couch. I would have to agree with another renter's review about not much to do in the area. Also, I was quite surprised to pay over $20 to park at Narragansett Beach and an additional fee of $6 per person to get on the beach. We did enjoy a Ferry ride to Block Island (it was nice that it was so close). You will need to pay to park to catch the Ferry though. We also enjoyed getting Lobster's right from the dock in Galilee and the kitchen did have all the ameneties to prepare them at home.

About the host

Host profile image
My husband and I are originally from the East Coast - Alan from Providence and I am from Brooklyn, NY. Since raising our two children California we have looked for an easier way to travel and see family. My 5 siblings decided that we would meet in Narragansett every summer and we have been doing that for 20 years now. It has been a great way for all 12 of the nieces and nephews to build a strong relationship. It is also wonderful to have a place that I love on the East Coast. Scarborough beach is a beautiful place.

Why they chose this property

This is our second home. It is cozy and comfortable and everything that I want a cottage at the beach to be. We keep everything updated and have invested lots of time and money into keeping the house maintained and having great amenities. It is several blocks from the ocean and the stores, a restaurants and convenience stores.

Our street is very quiet.
