Our beautiful area is delightful in every season, so why not try a different time of year for a change?

In Spring, the magical carpets of flowers on the mountains of the Sibillini National Park are simply stunning. With wild orchids, narsissi, cyclamen and violets, they are a photographers delight. If you love hiking then the mild spring temperatures makes exploring the mountains easier than in the heat of the summer. The Spring blossom of almond, cherry and apple and fresh greens of the new tree growth are beautiful.

There are many great markets to visit and festivals all around. You will even find a Frog Racing Festival! Easter Celebrations to attend. Any rain tends to come in brief shower and there is usually still snow on the mountain tops.

In Autumn we have the the ideal temperatures for hiking or cycling in the Sibillini Mountains once again and the ever-changing Autumn colours are simply stunning.

Then there is the grape harvest in September and a visit to our local vineyard is a must. With an interesting museum of old wine making equipment and vats you will be shown how the wine used to be produced and how it is produced now. Then of course there is the free wine tasting - try the Vin Cotto - it's delicious!

November is the olive harvest and a visit to the local press in an interesting experience. You can even take part helping to pick and process the olives.

Other Autumn festivals include, Apiro (near Cingoli) & Fermo - Sagra della polenta, Montecassiano - Sagra del pesce (fish), Cupramontana - grape festival in the heart of Verdicchio wine country in September, Piandimileto (near Urbino) - Mushroom fair, Lapedona (near Fermo) - Sagra del Vino Cotto (don't miss this one!), Arcevia - Sagra dell'uva (grape festival)

As Winter arrives, snow falls and the crisp white descends all around. The roads are kept immaculate and even on our local lane, the snow plough clears the road several time a day if necessary.

With skiing and snow-boarding nearby at Sassotetto and the new ski lodge, the runs are suitable for beginners & intermediates. There is even a baby run (for children and the less adventurous adults!).

Our local Boxing Day Live Nativity must not be missed - complete with live animals, music, candle-light and costumes of the time - simply magical.

Try truffle hunting - a speciality of the Amandola region. We can arrange truffle hunting trips or even wild boar hunting.

So whatever the season, each has it's own, beautiful qualities and will be sure to delight you.

Looking for something different to do on holiday?

Le Marche is the ideal area to relax and take time to do something new. From cookery courses, where you can learn to make delicious local pasta dishes, to quad biking tours to visiting the local designer outlet stores. There are mule trekking adventures in the mountains, sky diving, hot air ballooning and white water rafting . You certainly won't be bored on your holiday with us!

Enchanting property we'll return to again

Super well maintained property with all the comforts of home. In a 350 year old limestone and brick farmhouse with beautiful views and flower gardens. We enjoyed hiking in the nearby mountains and swimming in the sea. The hosts are attentive.

Perfect in Every Way

On arrival the Hideaway you can be assured of a warm welcome from the owners. Nestled in a beautiful valley is their stone farmhouse which has been lovingly converted into 3 luxury apartments. Oozing with rustic charm, yet boasting every modern convenience, tastefully furnished and well equipped. Start off by sitting in the beautifully manicured garden (a haven for wildlife and birds) and enjoy a glass of wine which will be waiting for you on arrival. There will also be enough groceries for your first few meals with Sarah’s home-made cakes to follow. Le Marche is not teaming with tourists. Here you can live like a local, buying wonderful fresh produce from the local markets and eating for very little in friendly family run restaurants. Do as little or as much as you want to – there are suggestions galore in the guide in your apartment. Any questions? - Don’t hesitate to ask - the owners live on site and are dedicated to giving you the best holiday experience ever. The countryside in this part of Italy will take your breath away. Drive around the deserted roads until you stumble upon one of the many charming hill top villages and step back to a forgotten time.

Another Wonderful Holiday at The Hideaway

Having just returned from another wonderful holiday at The Hideaway, Amandola, I feel I must recommend it as a perfect place to relax in the beautiful countryside of Le Marche. The apartment was well equiped - we wanted for nothing - and Sarah & Mark were always on hand to advise us and give us information about the walks, sightseeing and the coastline - which is only a 40 min. drive away. At this spring time of year, the locals were busy ploughing the fields, the blossom was on the trees and everything a picture, green and fresh, but snow still remained on the tops of the mountains. Sarah & Mark also have a wealth of knowledge of where to eat in the area - great recommendations. I recommend it as a quiet relaxing place to stay but with many amenities around, with the true feel of Italy : the Italians are truly friendly people too.

Paradise

We spent a wonderful week at The Hideaway in September. The location is breathtaking, the accommodation is comfortable and very well equipped and the hosts are marvellous. We were greeted with home baked cakes, a selection of herbs and vegetables from the garden and a bottle of wine. What more do you need? Sarah and Mark have gone to great lengths to make sure that you get the very best from your holiday and have created a wonderful home from home in Le Marche.

A lovely, peaceful hideaway indeed

"The Hideaway" offered us a wonderfully peaceful stay in lovely surroundings. Our apartment was well furnished, and our hosts, Mark and Sarah, were beyond welcoming and helpful. We found the property's location perfect for access to all parts of the Sibillini National Park, as well as only a short drive to the marvels of Ascoli Piceno. We enjoyed eating at nearby restaurants recommended by our hosts, and eating home-cooked meals on our private terrace in the moon-light. And, in the heat of our visit, we were always grateful for the relief provided by a dip in cool water of the Hideaway's pool. We would certainly return on another visit.

Luxurious rural retreat

The Hideaway is an idyllic spot from where you can enjoy the delights of rural Italy. The accommodation is very high quality and located in a very peaceful spot, with extensive gardens to relax in. It's relatively close to two towns for shops and restaurants; and accessible from several airports. The owners are on hand to provide help and advice; and you'll be made to feel very welcome (especially by Jess the dog as long as you throw her stick!). I had a very relaxing and delightful stay and would strongly recommend this accommodation.

Absolutely perfect

Had the fortune to spend two weeks at the Hideaway and it was everything - and more - that we had anticipated. The apartment is one of the best equipped we've experienced and is situated in an absolutely idyllic spot amid the peace and quiet of the countryside. Mark and Sarah were perfect hosts and the goodies left in our apartment on arrival was most welcome. They were most informative of places to visit and nothing was too much trouble. The swimming pool was fantastic and was an ideal place to cool off in the heat of the day. It was our first time in Les Marche and we enjoyed the experience and coupled with great accommodation made our visit to the Hideaway one to remember. Many thanks.

Very special!

I loved staying at The Hideaway - beautiful landscape, lovely apartment, extremely nice owners. What I appreciated most was how we were looked after, with lots of information and cakes, eggs, olive oil etc! There are many things to do in the surroundings, good food, walks, etc.

Fantastic place, friendly and beautiful

Great place, very tasteful and functional appartments and a very friendly atmosphere. Sarah and Mark seems to be thinking of any detail! Great time spend by the pool, reading, playing petanque etc. or going walking, cycling or visiting the villages in the surrounding area. Go there! You won't be disappointed! Beautiful area, clean , fantastic hosts

We went in October for a few days of hiking and touring. This place is ideal as it is close to the mountains, and the many fascinating towns in the area. The unit was very comfortable, and Mark and Sarah were great hosts-- they gave us fresh eggs and a bottle of vino 'on the house'. They helped us a great deal deciding where to go and what to see. Sarah even wrote a booklet on the area. I highly recommend this place for anyone interest in seeing the Marche before it becomes over-touristed.

The Hideaway, August 2009

The Hideaway really is a brilliant place - my wife and I agreed that it is the finest of the rural properties we’ve rented in Europe. The finish of the converted farm buildings really is first-class; more like a boutique hotel than a barn-conversion! Mark and Sarah are flawless hosts, who seemed to have thought of every detail of their guests’ stay. The welcome pack they provided included: wine, olive oil from their friends across the way, eggs from their chickens, fresh herbs and even a home made cake. Also they provide a handwritten notebook on the local area which is quite a work of art, as well as being really helpful. They were never obtrusive, but were about if you needed anything. The grounds and outlook are stunning. The area is wilder than Tuscany or Umbria, but more impressive for that. The wild flowers, lizards and insect life are fascinating - an added bonus that nothing seemed to bite.

Fabulous location; fabulous holiday!

The sheer hospitality at The Hideaway goes way beyond the ordinary . . . from the helpfulness and friendliness of the initial email contact right through pre-arrival information to the on-site advice and late-night welcome when we arrived exhausted from our drive from Rome airport! The apartment was spotless, very well appointed and everything had been thought of - the welcome bottle of wine and offer of fridge-stocking with food was very kind indeed. Mark and Sarah lifted our stay from a 'nice holiday' to one which I am recommending to anyone I speak to. My 2 small sons had a wonderful time in the pool and grounds and playing with Rusty the dog and the 4 (on occasions) free-roaming chickens! We adults had time to chill out and even when the property was full there was plenty of room for everyone to have their own space . . and having the wi-fi there meant we could keep in touch via our laptop which was handy. The location is about 1 hour's drive from the beach - the closest, Pedaso, appealed most to us as it was very 'Italian' and not quite as crowded as (for instance) Villa Rosa. The seafood eateries on the beach were great . . . my 2 year old fussy eater put away the delicious fresh tuna steak with zero fuss. I would thoroughly recommend a visit if you want a slow-paced, hassle-free holiday which would work for couples, culture-vultures and families alike!

Excellent value, idyllic location

Mark and Sarah are exceptional hosts at their beautiful Italian farmhouse location in the mountains. The views are amazing, the apartment is immaculate. Very clean, beautifully furnished, first class accomodations, the facilities are excellent. The area is fantastic, lots to do and see, experience local culture, close to the beach. It is an ideal base to explore the area. Am planning to return soon. Thanks guys!

Second Time Around - A fabulous stay

Last year was my first visit to the beautful La Marche countryside and the excellent Hideaway run by the hosts with most friendly welcome Sarah and Mark. I had such a wonderful time and found the accomodation excellent value and very competitive rates. Last year I stayed in the Stylish and well equipted Appartment 1 .. the farm house. This time I stayed in one of the ensuite appartments.. just as comfy and styishly decorated. It was nice to return and I had very nice welcome from Mark and Sarah and Rusty the dog, along with new playmates of Jess and Flopp (Rescued form the L'Aquila earthquake). Everything is beautifuly clean and the accomodation is well maitained with a homely feel. Very comfy beds and a most peaceful location. Stunning veiws to wake up to. The facilities of the swimming pool, hamocks, gazebo dinning area, BBQ all add to the enjoyment. It well placed for sightseeing to the towns of Comunanza, Amandola ... perfect for eve entertiament, cafe and bars, Ascoli great for a shopping trip with a fab Italian shoe shop (Girls) and very good prices too. Worth leaving some room in suitcase for. Good Markets too. Great for countryside walks and seeing waterfalls and the Monestry in Sibiliani (prob misspelt that) but it is worth a look. The town of Penna has little old theatre which is amazing. The Hideaway offers a fanatstic get a way from it all with the option of having things to see and do as well. It is 3 hours from Rome by train and about 5 from Milan so trip via these is enroute is well recomended. It is a good idea to hire a car to get out and about but the roads are not as crazy the city. Just remember in Italy it rude not overtake often :). The literature that is in the appartments on what to do and see is excellent as is the guide to all things good on the food front. Stay in or go out it's all there for you. Wine good and cheap (Still) as are most restaurants. Must mention the nice welcome pack of homemade cake, wine, eggs form the chickens Alice, Gerri thelma and Louise. All in all highly recomeded will be back for a third visit soon.

A beautiful 'Hideaway'

I stayed here at the end of May in one of the apartments. Amazing views (the toilet was the best! ) from every window and lovely weather. 5 mins from the nearest shops by car where they sell the most amazing pizzas as recommended by Mark for just 5 euros!! Sarah and Mark, amazing hosts, they could not do enough for us. Little touches like eggs, bread, and wine and even a light on our door key for at night time made our holiday all more personal. Lovely garden, and swimming pool. Nice and relaxing and extremely quiet apart from the odd chicken or dog bark. Sarah and Mark made both a dvd and left plenty of leaflets with lots of information to do in La Marche. We went to a couple of local markets, very cheap and plenty of places to eat. If you fancy a drive, Rome is about 3 hours away. After long journeys you can be sure to be greeted by a very comfy bed. And not forgetting their 3 lovely dogs that are always so happy to greet you!
