Quiet getaway
Lovely remote spot off the road, surrounded by sheep and space. Gorgeous. Not modern but characterful. We took a badminton set to keep kids entertained. Some local highlights include Droitwich Lido and Witley Court and church. Stayed 8 nights and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Thanks to Carol.

Beautiful old farmhouse in a peaceful location.
Myself amd my partner had a lovely few days with my elderly mum. Ground floor bathroom and bedroom were perfect for her. The whole property is full of character and very comfortable and homely and the location is peacefully set, yet fully accessible to local villages. Carol and her daughter were excellent hosts and made us feel very welcome with some treats on arrival and a couple of visits, despite their busy schedule on their farm. I would definitely recommend this property and would love to return again in the future. Thanks Carol & family.

Chilling and fishing break
Stayed in June 2021 for a week of relaxation and fishing with my wife and two friends. The peace was palpable and we saw hares and pheasant in the sheep field beyond the garden. The private lake is a beautiful setting patrolled by a red Kite and several kingfishers and without being too big, the carp were wild and incredibly strong. All 4 of us enjoy fishing, so for us the two swims were not enough, but we could leave our gear out overnight, safe in the knowledge it would be there in the morning. I would thoroughly recommend Bank House as a cosy retreat, well placed for visiting the surrounding area, but with a tranquil character all of its own.

Wonderful Holiday in the English Countryside
My family and I enjoyed an absolutely incredible two weeks at this lovely cottage surrounded by beautiful, picturesque views! We are a family of five (myself, my husband, and our children aged 14, 11 and 7) and we found the accommodations more than comfortable with plenty of space for us all. The cottage was so cozy and we especially enjoyed having fires in the woodstove, sitting in the conservatory, the rustic table for family meals, and perusing the library. We also really appreciated the amenities, such as the instant hot water in the shower, bathroom heaters, electric kettle for tea, fully stocked kitchen for prepping our own meals, the washing machine for laundry, and wifi. The cottage is surrounded by beautiful views in every direction of the host's own 160 acre working farm, which she kindly welcomed us to walk and explore at our leisure (making sure to close the pasture gates behind us, of course). We enjoyed so many walks over the pastures, through the woods and around the large private pond and apple orchard. Our children loved seeing all of the sheep, cows and pheasants on her land. The very best part of this property isn't even the accommodations or lovely land, but the hosts themselves. Carol and her daughter, Alex went out of their way to make us feel welcome and make our stay very memorable. Even before we arrived, they helped us arrange our grocery delivery order. Upon arrival, we were welcomed with fresh baked bread, jam, chutney, fresh apples and eggs from their farm along with milk, tea and sugar ready for us to use. Throughout our stay they provided wood for the woodstove and even gifted us a couple bottles of their amazing fresh apple juice. They were never more than a quick message away if we had any questions or needed anything and were incredibly responsive and easy to communicate with. We will always hold the time we had at The Bath House very dear in our hearts and we hope to come back again someday. If you are looking for a quiet, countryside holiday, this is absolutely the place for you! We highly recommend The Bath House. Thank you, Carol and Alex for making our two week stay so fabulous!

Spacious and warm welcome
A lovely property close to Tembury Wells and usefully placed for Ludlow and surroundings. We didn’t have the warmest weather for our long weekend but the log burner gave us cosy evenings. In the summer it would be fabulous as it has a lovely garden and is very private down its own driveway. The kitchen had everything we needed and the bedrooms are spacious. The decor is old fashioned but very comfortable. A tiny criticism is that spider removal would have been appreciated! But the owner was so welcoming and left us eggs and apple juice. I am sure we will go there again.

Wonderful cosy Christmas in lovely Tenbury
On arrival we found Dr Field and her daughter had provided a bottle of their delicious apple juice and some really tasty homemade tomato chutney, it was much appreciated! I was very worried that my daughter and granddaughters coming from Australia to spend Xmas would not be warm enough but the cottage was very cosy. Because of my concerns the owner kindly provided 2 extra heaters but we only used them once when we were too lazy to light the wood burner. Although some of the furnishings are a bit worn, the beds were very comfy, the cooker coped well for the Xmas dinner (not always the case when away from home) the phone signal is poor but if you link your phone to the Wi-fi signal this solves the problem for the most part. The cottage is very reasonably priced especially at this time of year and my granddaughters loved it, it didn’t provide the snow they wanted, but they were amazed by a beautiful frosty morning. Tenbury is a lovely town, we all enjoyed the panto at the Regal, the volunteer staff were so friendly, the Spotty Dog for hot chocolate and we particularly liked the Rose & Crown for its cosy atmosphere and good food. My daughter was keen to have a decent curry before returning to Oz and the Bahar restaurant provided this to her satisfaction indeed one of our visitors said their biryani was the best he had ever tasted. For such a small town Tenbury has so many good places to eat. Further afield we went on the Santa Special at the Severn Valley Railway and to the cloisters at Worcester Cathedral to see the 100 decorated Xmas trees, both really magical. A lovely time was had by all!

great family house
For our 35th wedding anniversary we stayed at Gamekeepers cottage. Six grown ups had enough space to enjoy ourselves. A great garden ( also for kids) , a lovely woodburner for a chilly evening. Lovely towns and villages in the surrounding area. We saw the bright stars and even the milky way. Not light pollution! And the only sound were the sheep and at night an owl. We had 3 lovely weeks.

Our long weekend at the Gamekeepers Cottage
We really enjoyed our stay at the gamekeepers cottage, it is very cosy with loads of character, it was quite cold while we were there, so the log burning stove was great and Carol the owner kept us supplied with bags of logs. The beds were very comfortable. There are loads of interesting places to visit in the area. If you are looking for a quiet and peaceful retreat with lovely scenery then this cottage is just for you. An enjoyable break in a cosy character cottage
Despite the weather turning much colder, we were warm and cosy in the cottage with a very easy to use wood burning stove. The situation was lovely and the facilities in the cottage were good. All in all, it represented excellent value for money and I would recommend it to anyone.

Brilliant place to stay.
Fantastic place to stay. The welcome was warm and we had everything we needed. The extraordinary dining room table was great for board games as well as meals. The evening was made all the more enjoyable by lighting the fire and relaxing with a glass of something red! Plenty of bird life to observe and a wonderful peaceful atmosphere. We motorcycled into Wales and walked from the cottage. There was plenty of hot water available for baths on our return. We came at the right time for apple pressing and bottling of resulting apple juice... which tasted fantastic! Dr Field was a good host and very hospitable. Thank you for a wonderful week. We highly recommend The Game keepers Lodge for a visit.

Unusual cottage, full of character but with all basic mod cons. A beautiful setting.
3 nights for 3 schoolfriends meeting for a reunion. We soon felt at home & had a lovely time, catching up as well as gently exploring the locality. The cottage is old but modernised enough for our needs. It has clearly been a home. We were welcomed with homemade apple & pear juice & jam. We were left to get on with our break, knowing the owner was nearby in case of emergencies. We had some trouble with WiFi but didn't bother to pursue this as none of us are addicts. Evenings in the cosy lounge were great & we used the woodburner on the last evening when it got a little cooler. There is TV but we didn't use it much. A written sheet with some basic information would have been helpful. Carol, the owner, met us & ran through some information but it would have been useful to have it written down e.g. directions to the lake, instructions on heating, how to use the WiFi, what to do on leaving the property, but generally this was a great place to stay.

Peaceful surroundings and a clean and comfortable cottage
We had a great time during our stay of a week. There was plenty of space for the 5 of us and the cottage was clean and comfortable. It was good having two bathrooms, a good sized dining area and lounge. It was an easy location for exploring. We enjoyed Tenbury Wells, Ludlow, the Severn Valley railway and West Midlands safari park.

A cottage in the country!
We really enjoyed our stay in this pretty cottage situated just outside Tenby Wells. The owner was very helpful and had kindly put bottles of her own traditionally-made pear and apple juice into the fridge which were welcome! The lake was two minutes walk from the cottage and was good for fishing as well as being scenic and full of wild life. This was a perfect spot to relax and only ten minutes away from shops and good restaurants.

Comfortable cottage set in farmland teeming with wildlife.
The cottage itself was lovely and the four of us enjoyed our stay but there was one issue Being a party of motorcyclists we were not overjoyed to see a large muddy puddle across the rough track access to the property. Unfortunately one member of our group lost control of their machine at slow speed and came off while trying to get through the area in question, one evening after a day out sightseeing. We are mature adults with many years of motorcycle riding experience behind us! Perhaps some improvements could be made to that aspect : hard-core infilling for example! Directions to the property could be a bit clearer too!

About the host

Hosted by Dr C. Field

Host profile image
I am a widow farming 120 acres, mainly grass, keeping sheep, some of them rare breeds such as Cotswolds and Shropshires plus pedigree Aberdeen Angus cattle. The farm also produces high quality apple juice, honey ,jams and free range eggs.My daughter is a vet and also lives on the farm,we are both keen gardeners when time permits. The farmhouse where we live is only a few hundred yards from the Bath house so we are usually on hand to sort out any questions.I married into farming, my father was a garage owner in a local village, my parents in law purchased the farm during the war, when my husband was farming it we produced thatching straw and many other unusual crops

Why they chose this property

The Bath House is a cottage on our farm in a very peaceful setting yet only two miles from the shops and facilities of Tenbury. It was extensively renovated in the late 1970's for my husbands own use and when we married the fitted kitchen was added as a wedding present from his mother. The large conservatory was built during the twenty years my mother lived there.Much of her antique furniture is still in the cottage along with many of her beautiful watercolours. This cottage has the feel of permanence, of a home, timeless and a part of the landscape yet with TV,Broadband,DVD,washing machine, fridge, freezer, and microwave.

What makes this property unique

What more can I say, I have many happy memories of early married life there. Of watching weasels play on the wall,of seeing a Roe deer on the lawn and of my daughter as a baby. I decided I could not bring myself to take long term lets but would much prefer to share the delights of the Bath House with as many people as possible I have added Carp fishing to add to peoples enjoyment of the secluded lake and just hope my guests love what we have here as much as we do.
