Family Owned Cottage Over Looking Lake Michigan

Katie's Cottage has been a family run rental property for generations and we hope to continue to welcome families to our property for generations to come. Come and relax on our back deck while listening to the crashing of the waves below and watch the boats pass you by. Enjoy an open floor plan fit for entertaining your whole family with wall to wall windows overlooking the lake. We are tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the downtown and still a quick jump to all the entertainment.

Enjoyable stay

This was the 3rd year to stay at Katie's Cottage. We really enjoy the private & quiet setting. Close to the beach & town. The owners are quick to respond to questions & helpful.

Family vacation

This was our second time staying at Katie's Cottage and have already planned to stay in 2024!! We love the quiet, peaceful area. Just a short drive down the road has many fun things to see and do, but we enjoy the deck, yard and beach!

Cozy cottage right on Lake Michigan

This cottage was clean and as described. It's right on Lake Michigan, with beach access via a moderate amount of stairs, and near South Haven for restaurants etc. Decor and furnishings are somewhat dated, but we were happy spending a weekend here!

It’s a family tradition

We love coming to Katie’s for a long summer weekend! The house is cozy with a well stocked kitchen. Beautiful view from a large deck with a charcoal grill. Our favorite part is the amazing bonfires we have every night on the private beach!

A lovely lakeside idyll

If anything this cottage is prettier than it appears in the listing. Beautifully appointed, in a lovely spot, right on the lake, and the property manager was very accessible and helpful. The area is full of riches. I hope to be back!

Absolutely Perfect!

We were so fortunate to come across this property! I took my 4 year of daughter and 9 year old son and they loved it! The views from the house are amazing, having the beach at the bottom of the steps was perfect and the location was perfect to get to downtown south haven in less than 3 minutes. We will definitely be coming back!!!

South Haven getaway

We really enjoyed our stay at Katie's Cottage. We had often see the cottage when we were in South Haven & wanted to stay there. And it did not disappoint! Clean, quiet & beautiful view of Lake Michigan. We will be back!

Lovely property!

We definitely hope to come back again! The house is clean and the beach is lovely. We really enjoyed sitting on the deck and watching the waves. I found the bed a bit uncomfortable, but that was my only complaint. Overall we’re very happy!

Perfect location

This cabin was very clean and welcoming. We were looking for a place on Lake Michigan that we could enjoy a lakeside sunset and this was perfect. We spent every day walking along the beach, around town, and to the piers. This will definitely be on our list of places to return to again!

We will be back!

Love this property for its amazing location with private beach, lots of outdoor space, great deck for grilling, and cozy indoor space. The stairs down to the beach may be tough for some. Kitchen is well stocked and roomy although we did have some issues with the plumbing. Really wish the second bedroom had a double bed which would make this an amazing place for a couples’ getaway.

5 star view and beach, however the furnishings and beds were lacking. The flooring is aging and the beds were very uncomfortable. I would still recommend the cottage because of the view and location.

Oh Deer!

Every morning, I saw at least one deer up by our deck and/or in the foliage in the hill that goes down to our beach. My wife and I were looking to book a fairly secluded spot with a beach to relax for our 48th anniversary, and that's what we got with Katie's Cottage. We were able to hear the surf from our deck but ventured down the 40 or so steps and little dune to hear it even better and make use of our beach. We walked about a mile and a half to the harbor one day, and then walked the same distance the other direction from our beach the next day. We also read, tanned, and watched the sunset from our beach, although you can view the beautiful sunsets from the steps or even the deck. An EASY drive into town for shopping and eating good food. Katie was very good at answering questions whenever we texted her.

Katie's Cottage South Heaven

Katie Cottage is the place to go for a quick getaway. A great inviting environment that you won't want to leave. The first night we were there we were looking at the calendar to see when we could come back. Katie is very responsive and available for any questions. We recommend her private cottage.

Nice Getaway

Location of this property is awesome, steps down to beach and close to downtown area. Also close to Meijer, so groceries are easy to get. We had a very nice stay, but a couple of drawbacks. The queen bed is uncomfortable, so much that we slept in the other bedroom with 2 separate twin beds (which wasn’t much of an upgrade). The couch in living room needs an upgrade along with beds and you would have yourself a nice little rental. Besides that, we still had an enjoyable time and would rent again if those items were replaced.

Great getaway!

We had a great stay at Katie’s Cottage. Amazing location and the cottage is spacious and stocked with everything you need to feel at home. Even with condos next door the neighborhood was quiet and peaceful. Host was extremely responsive and accommodating. Town with great shops and restaurants was a 5 min drive. Definitely a great place to relax with family or a couple of friends.

Perfect place to relax and reset

If lake life is what you are looking for this is it. The view was spectacular and the beach was sandy 😊 this is the perfect place to unwind unplug and relax. No hustle and bustle.

My family has been running a rental business on this lot for three generations. We have opened our doors as a way for families to get away from it all and to soak up the sun and relax by the water. I grew up in South Haven and love the idea of families building memories on our shores. We want our cottage to be a home away from home for you. A place to let your worries and stress from the world fade away.

Why they chose this property

Since we are a family run business we cater to families. We treat you as though you are a part of our family and not just someone staying in our cottage. We go above and beyond to make sure you feel right at home with us. We have been hosting some of the same families years after years that we truly believe they are part of our family. One of the things that we love about our cottage is that it is tucked away from it all that there are no distractions but not far away enough that you are too distant from all that the Haven has to offer.

What makes this property unique

We are right on the beach and so you don't have to worry about the hassle of finding a parking spot, paying to park, or that exhausting walk back to your car. You have easy access to your own beach lot so you can go down for a quick morning swim, go sight seeing during the day, and have a bonfire after dinner.
