This is our second home. It has been in our family for many years, and we have regularly upgraded it, not as a rental but for our own use. Our guests tell us it is unlike any property they have stayed at.
In 2013, we completely renovated the master bathroom, which now includes a large two-person shower with an electronically controlled skylight and a window looking out to Cape Cod Bay. Last year we installed air conditioning.
We make the house available for a few weeks a year when we are not using it ourselves. For the most part, the same guests return each season. Eleven years in a row is the current record shared by two guests.
Our home has unique views from every room with the exception of the third bedroom. The master bedroom, second bedroom, living room, and sun porch provide spectacular views of Cape Cod Bay. Freeman's Pond, the only saltwater tidal pond in Brewster, lies next to the kitchen and the sun room.
Robbins Hill Beach and Paine's Creek Beach are both a short quarter mile walk down the street. Both beaches are ideal for young children and Paine's Creek is famous for spectacular sunsets.
The views from the house of Cape Cod Bay are unobstructed and, on most days, the far side of Cape Cod -- including Wellfleet and Provincetown -- is visible. The land between the house and water is protected wetlands, which abound with wildlife.
Situated at one corner of a two thirds-of-an-acre lot, the house is approached from a U-shaped driveway which opens to the ocean views.
The home is not 'kid safe' ( we haven't covered the outlets or put safety locks on the drawers) and is probably not suitable for toddlers. For slightly older kids though, it is ideal. There are protected yards all around the house, and Robbins Hill Beach is a perfect one for children.
Most of the neighbors during the summer are owners, although a few renters are on the street as well.
We love the house. You will, too.
