False advertising

We stayed at three different homes on our vacation and this one was a major disappointment. We requested and believed we were renting an entire home to ourselves. We were extremely disappointed to see that there were no less than five unites in the property, two additional attached to our unit. Check in was not clear. No instructions were offered on the website like other rentals gave us. I called when we arrived and the phone call was not personable at all. We were told the code to the locked door and got settled. There are two bathrooms, but the shower door doesn’t stay closed in one and the showered head pipes all protrude through the ceiling. The toilet works though. We chose to take showers in bathroom number two where there is a curtain, but the toilet doesn’t work in that bathroom and the sink basins are not securely mounted and spin. Between the two bathrooms, you actually have one fully functioning bathroom if you use both simultaneously. We didn’t feel comfortable or like we had the space to ourselves at all. There were other renters on the property so we mostly stuck to our top floor unit and decided to only use the place to sleep. I guess the price is reasonable, I just wished they were honest about what you are getting. We left the entire next day after we checked in to venture further down south with family and when we returned we realized the front door opened on its own. Luckily everything was still inside, but after checking the door to see what happened we realized it doesn’t always stay locked. Overall pretty disappointing. Luckily it wasn’t our first or last place we stayed, so we shrugged it off and went on our way to better. If you want a place to crash and don’t care about much else, this place will work just fine.

Trip to Hawaii-Ocean View

Overall I was satisfied with renting this property. We are happy with the service and will definitely recommend this property to my friends. PS: It would be good to add some more warm blankets to the rooms. Thank you 😊.

Three Week stay

When we arrived we noticed that the door lockpad did not work, ie there was no way to lock the door. The property manager assured us this would be fixed the next day. We never saw him again and for our whole three week stay there was no way to lock the front door, so we had to bring all our valuables (like our computers) in our car everyday. The neighborhood is not know for being super safe, at least that is what we heard from a policeman who worked in the area.

Terrible. Beware.

We booked this rental specifically for the two bathrooms due to us travelling with my elderly disabled father. Upon arrival we discovered that the lock code didn’t work and had to call Michelle to get a new one. Once inside we looked for the 2nd bathroom. There was a locked door in the 2nd bedroom, my husband assumed that this had been locked in error, as we had had no communication indicating any repairs taking place, he opened the door, it’s a privacy bathroom lock and he used his thumbnail to open it. Once opened we discovered that the cold water for the tap wasn’t working. At this point Michelle had arrived and we let her know about the bathroom. We were told that the repairman was supposed to have fixed it, but that she would get her husband Mike to come by to fix it. She said he had to get parts and would hopefully get it fixed before sundown. Later, Mike arrived. When my husband opened the door, Mike aggressively said “You need to lock that door right now. What you’ve done is breaking and entering”. We tried to explain that we had booked the unit based on it having two bathrooms. Mike then said "too bad it’s not going to be fixed" and then left. At this point we did not feel at all welcome, his aggression was uncalled for and made us feel unsafe. I called Michelle back after Mike left a polite voicemail asking her to call me, but she didn’t respond. This was bad enough but upon looking around the unit a little more we realized it was filthy. We had taken our shoes off at the door as requested by the sign but our feet quickly became black from the dirt on the floor. The kitchen appeared to have be cleaned with an oily rag, every surface was dirty,  with dust caked onto it. I had to wash every dish and utensil before we used it.   The photos in the listing showed a beautiful kitchen with stainless steel appliances. However the fridge was taped shut and there was a dirty old fridge on the the other side of the room that was rusted, filthy and smelled terrible. We were shocked and by the situation and more than an hour away from Kona. We looked at moving into a hotel that night but my father was too tired to manage that, so we stayed the one night. None of us wanted to shower in the bathroom with the tub, it was dark in there and we were already disgusted with the general filth. First thing in the morning I called a hotel in Kona and managed to get an early check in. No Hawai'i State certificate of short term vacation rental was posted either

Seahorse

We enjoyed out stay at his location and had a blast on the big island. This location allowed us to be able to explore the entire island and gave us close access to good snorkeling and good secluded beaches. My critique is that the maintenance guy was not able to fix a simple leak in one of the bathrooms when all that was required was a simple $5 part from Ace Hardware. His solution to fixing that leaking sink was shutting off both of the valves to that sink so that it couldn’t be used. This was a real inconvenience that could have been easily fixed. I also noticed that the tiles in both bathrooms were loose and not properly installed with grout which is a bit of a safety concern stepping on loose tiles. It literally appeared as though some kid fresh out of high school did the job, and apparently the maintenance man who did the work. Furthermore, I attempted to let the property manager know that the sink hadn’t been fixed and she never responded to my message. Me and my family got by with one bathroom for the 2&1/2 weeks we stayed, but for the amount I was charged I should have had use of both bathroom so that my little girls could wash there hands and brush their teeth. Not trying to blast the place, just being honest. Aside from that all the tweekers sleeping in their trucks across the street and the noise of people driving 2 stroke motorcycles up and down the streets at all hours of the night, it wasn’tbad.
