Old Hawaii Stay
We truly enjoyed our stay. The furniture and the structures were in need of repair. The pool was amazing and we loved gathering at the pool house lanai. The location was fantastic. The accessibility of many areas and a true experience of the old Hawaiian atmosphere was enjoyed.

Not Worth the Price
We stayed here for 6 nights as part of a company leadership retreat. We had 8 couples and an infant child in our group. The positives: The views were gorgeous. Off the front yard is the ocean and the back yard is a stunning cliff. The pool was heated and kept at a very comfortable temperature. A young man came every single day to clean up the grounds and did an excellent job. The negatives: For the price we paid, we expected a lot more out of the house. Every space had anywhere from minor to major cosmetic issues, safety hazards, and unfinished construction work including uncapped and exposed wires in one of the bedrooms, holes that needed patched above the vent hood in the kitchen, unfinished paint projects, etc. The space was filthy when we arrived. Sure it was tidy and the floors were swept and possibly even mopped, but walls are covered in dirty build up, door frames (inside and out) are grimy and look terrible, the stove was not very clean, the vent hood is covered in grease. The cookware in the kitchen seemed to be a collection of old and used items that were possibly purchased from the local thrift store. Knives were dull and even chipped, mixing bowls were cracked, baking sheets were rusted. There's more utensils in the drawer than I've ever seen in one kitchen and yet somehow never quite the ones we actually needed to use. The furniture was all extremely cheap and falling apart. TVs didn't work in some spaces. Some doors don't close all the way. Not kid friendly.

Family vacation
Such a fantastic place for our family vacation, 2023. With 9 bedrooms, everyone had plenty of room. A lot of time was spent in the beautiful swimming pool. Views of the ocean were enjoyed as we sat on the lanai. The setting was so lovely. Would not hesitate to rent this "plantation" again.

Amazing property!
My husband and I renewed our vows at Moli’i Gardens & needed a place to house some of our guests flying to Hawaii. This place exceeded our expectations! The rooms were really nice & everyone felt comfortable in their own spaces. The pictures posted are not up to date at all and there are so many other features that we all enjoyed! There was a sauna, a pickle ball court, an outdoor movie seating that we all loved and of course the gated pool. The owner greeted us when we arrived and was so nice & welcoming. We had a bbq one of the days & she was extremely accommodating. We would love to get a group back there again!

Amazing Property for our small intimate wedding
Amazing property! It was perfect. 20 of us ranging from a few babies to 20s to senior citizens. Tania is so sweet. She really does her job well. The house keepers were really nice and on top of their duties. This is the perfect place to come relax and hang out with your family and friends. We wanted a quiet and relaxing atmosphere for 5 days. We had a small exchange of vows and it was perfect.

This property was beautiful outside just really needs some cleaning and repairing done. The inside the beds were good but the rooms needed some good repairs done - electrical especially and cleaned. In most rooms there is no where to organize your personal items. It is a beautiful property but just needs a lot of maintenance done. We did enjoy our stay here. It was very relaxing and the views are beautiful.

Wonderful location
This property is lovely in so many ways. There are some challenges with the AC in the pool house, it does not work. There are also no extra towels or linens available. Roland was very helpful and receptive. It’s unfortunate that you have to text him for the bubbles for the hot tub. That puts a lot onto him. Overall this property is lovely!!!

Wedding Weekend of our Dreams
We just experienced the most perfect wedding weekend with the family. Beautiful historic home, with majestic views, beautifully landscaped yard and sparkling salt-water pool. So much time, attention and care has gone into this home to make it a perfect family destination. The property manager is so wonderful and the caretaker is amazing. They took care of our every need. This place has such a special feeling aabout it and the family all relaxed. Swam, played, laughed, and slept. Perfect family vacation. The wedding was breathtakingly beautiful and we truly could not have a more perfect experience. Thankyou si very much for this once in a lifetime experience!

Paradise at Ko olau Plantation
Many thanks to Tania (property manager) and the onsite property caretaker of this magnificent rental property. From the beginning our questions and requests were promptly answered. Great customer service! The property itself was a true Hawaiian Paradise where 4 generations were able to recharge and make lasting memories. From those in our group who have never been to the islands before..."This is better than what I dreamed Hawaii would be like" From those who had returned to the islands..."This feels like a true Hawaiian paradise". Truly the pictures don't do it justice! Must see it in person. Mahalo

Perfect paradise
The property was beyond our expectations. Simple but perfect for large groups and gives you a real feel for Hawaii. Huge grounds and spread out homes and an amazing pool. Yard and pool cleaned daily and great caretakers that are helpful. The Property Manager Tania is so great to work with. Helped us with plans for the wedding. Vendors, caterers etc and then planned things to do on the island. When we had an issue she was right on top of it. The property is out on the North side of the island so if you are looking for the city this is definitely not it. It is really an awesome property in a beautiful location. Loved sitting on the lanai's just watching the sun rise and having a cup of coffee. Would go back in a heart beat.

Great location, room for everyone!
A group of 18 of us stayed here for 10 days in March. The plantation estate had room for every one of us! it is a huge property, separate from the ocean by only a 2 lane highway. The layout of the property is very good. 3 separate houses, with a pool in the middle and lots of great common space areas. I would recommend this place if you have a large group looking to all stay in the same area. Lots of room for parking, we had 6 rental vehicles and never had a problem. Tania, was a pleasure to deal with and addressed a few issues that we had right away. She made the whole booking, payment, and check in/out process very easy. The plantation estate was very good for us, and allows for the real Hawaiian experience. There is so much to do within a 10 minute drive north or south of the property. I would recommend it.

Regrettably, Tania did not live up to the high standards ascribed to her by other reviewers. She was not there to greet us when we arrived at the property, did not come to the property at any time while we were there, and repeatedly ignored or failed to respond to text messages.

Love the Plantation - 3rd time here...
We were first at the Plantation in 2009 for a wedding. We've returned two more times since...with the couple who got married and other people who were there. Hope to keep coming back! The setting is pretty unbelievable. Right at the foot of incredible mountains, right across Kamehaha from the ocean. The surrounding homes are far enough away that you feel truly isolated, yet you're a very short drive from Kualoa Ranch, the Laie luau scene, Giovanni's and Tita's shrimp shacks, and three or four beaches that are all very different from each other. Waimea Bay and Sunset Beach aren't far. Turtle Bay, close. Perfect spot on the shore for us. The house and buildings are comfortable and easy in true island fashion. Big kitchen, easy to cook for large groups. Pool isn't heated but is warm enough if you aren't up for the beach. If you want some kind of super fancy, resort experience, go to Waikiki or rent a place on Diamond Head--this is the country, and for us, a great version of it. It's really the only way we want to go on Oahu.

Wonderful Hawaiian property
Our family had a wonderful time at this property mainly because it is located out in the country and it is an old style Plantation home that gives you a real feel of what Hawaii should really be like. Lots and lots of space for the kids and we had a small amazing wedding with just family. Was just incredible. I wouldn't have chosen another place if I had the option. Woke up in the mornings to roosters, beautiful mountains and blue ocean. The pool is perfect if you don't want to go out anywhere but just laze around. BBQ'd, sat and talked on the lanais. So much outside covered space to just lounge around and very open air feel. There is a great hiking trail around the corner that takes you to a fantastic view. Do it in the morning it is amazing. North side of Oahu is great. White sandy beaches, little local eateries, quaint little towns. Wouldn't have wanted to have been anywhere else. Tanya helped us plan both our trip and our wedding. Gave us suggestions on tours and places to go and helped with the wedding vendors. Checked in with us daily to see if we needed anything. Was a joy to work with and made our stay extra special. Make sure you make a shop at Costco or Sams because the joy of living on an island is that everything is expensive! You don't need an alarm clock because the local roosters that roam can help you with that. Fantastic and memorable trip to Hawaii and the Plantation made it so much more special. Will be back.

Family Reunion
Lots of space and wonderful view of the ocean. The pool, with waterfall and hot tub is amazing. It was lovely to relax on the two separate lanais. Big remodled modern kitchen and master suite in the main house. The 2 kitchenettes are both at the poolhouse,1 on the lanai,1 in the bedroom with only a sink and refrigerator. Though it says recently renovated, the property is under construction with some features including some electrical and lighting not working, and some things in need of repair. The description and photos of the property are still not acurate despite the many reviews mentioning this. Walls are very thin in the tall house with the 6 bedrooms. Beds are very comfortable. The pickle ball court is the driveway /parking area with a roll-out net. It says bring your own paddles but we left ours so there should be 4.There is a great sand volleyball court with a net but you'll need a ball. There are also alot of pool toys. Stop at a store on your way and buy soap because there was soap in only 1 of the 10 bathrooms on the property. There are also no hand towels. For the kitchen, you'll need to buy some salt & pepper, spices and oil for cooking but otherwise is well equipt. Great snorkling up the road at Shark's Cove where you can rent gear. There are food trucks nearby and great shopping at The Polynesian Cultural Center and nearby open air market. Lovely swimming beach, good for little (and big) ones, just up the road from the house maybe 1/4 mile. We had a great time.

Beyond Expectations
There are simply not enough words to explain the amazing experience we had. I don’t even know where to start. I read extensively the reviews prior to our stay so I think it’s best to start from there. 1. The photos can not & will not EVER do this property justice. The views alone are literally worth every dollar you spend. The photos are lacking so I’ll do my best to explain the accommodations. *Main house has a HUGE full kitchen, dining room & living room with 3 fold out couches. The main bedroom has a king bed & full bathroom. There is a half bath in the laundry room & another bedroom with king and full bathroom around the back side of the main house. *Pool house. A half bathroom and huge bedroom with mini kitchenette & king bed. Both the pool house and main house have HUGE lanais with tables & chairs and 2 extra outside fridges. *secondary house: 1 downstairs room has 4 fold out couches, 3 other downstairs rooms have king beds and a last downstairs room has another fold out couch. Three of the downstairs rooms have full bathrooms. There are 2 upstairs rooms with king beds & a shared full bathroom. 2. View and amenities: THEY LITERALLY HAVE LAVA carved out and lit up in the driveway. There are red shiny rocks that are lit up and look like the path is covered in lava. The pool, location, view & property are beyond measure! 3. You will be cared for like never before. Roland and his crew were incredible and made everything perfect for us! Even brought us a turtle!

HORRIBLE ESTATE MANAGER
"Horrible Estate Manager!" We rented the Plantation estate last September….and while the estate itself was beautiful and charming; the unprofessional estate manager Tania really tainted our time in Hawaii! The Jacuzzi did not work, and when we finally got a hold of Tania, she informed us that it had just broke a couple days before we arrived, however we found out later that it had been broken for months. Prior to our arrival, we had asked specifically if everything on the estate was in working condition, and were told that indeed it was. This was an obvious lie by Tania…and for the rest of our stay, we were unable to use the Jacuzzi as the water did not heat up. My husband asked Tania to have the owner call us back, which she promised to do….but never did! Additionally, 3 months after we came back home….our deposit still had not been returned to us. It was only after we repeatedly called Tania, did we finally receive the check……a full 4 months after we vacated the property. The contract stated it would be returned within 30 days after our departure. While Tania promised us an additional refund for the broken Jacuzzi (a rather paltry sum we might add!)….to this day, a full 7 months after we departed the property, it has still not been refunded to us (excuse after excuse why she has not sent it yet). Repeated attempts to reach Tania have been futile; she has not returned even one of our many calls! On the rare occasions that we did speak to her about our deposit, there was always some excuse as to why we had not received our money. The Estate itself was very beautiful….but our experience with Tania left a very bitter taste, and we certainly will never return to that property again! We have traveled all around the world, and this was by far the worst experience we have ever had with a manager. The only highlight was Kiri, the caretaker, he was an absolute doll….and did everything he could to make our stay comfortable! We highly recommend he be promoted to be the Manager of the estate, he would be certain to do a much better job than Tania. My recommendation if you do choose to stay here, is to make absolute sure everything is in working order before you arrive. And if Tania is still the manager expect to be on your own. She gave us the impression that she did not plan to be there much longer.

great birthday party for my husband
This is a great property at a lovely setting and has many wonderful amenities. Roland, the manager is very helpful and always willing to go the extra mile to accommodate. Since the property was purchased last January (2022), they are continually making upgrades and improving the property. It is only getting better. There are lots of things to do at the property--pickle ball, sand volleyball, lovely lanais and fire pits, etc. and is a good place to rest and relax, but also good for other fun experiences like beaches and hiking. Hope you will enjoy it as much as our family did! !

Why they chose this property

The Koolau Estate is located on the North Shore of Oahu which is home to some of the best beaches on the island. It is located in the "country" which truly gives you a taste of the local feel and aspect of Hawaii. The relaxed less rushed pace of the country and its friendly people really gives you a chance to enjoy Hawaii as it should be. Nestled between the mountains and the ocean is truly magical and the Plantation styled homes bring you away from the city feel.

What makes this property unique

You will go away relaxed, invigorated and in love with the Estate and Hawaii!
