Ausable River Cottage

Enjoy the tranquility and solitude of the North Woods in our 3 BR, 1.5 BA cottage, located on the Upper main branch of the Au Sable river between Grayling and Gaylord in Fredric Michigan.
Ideal for several couples or a large family and perfect for the up north get away. One BR with a queen size bed and a full BA on the main floor, and 2 BR and a 1/2 BA on the second floor, 2 full size beds in one bedroom and a queen size bed in the other bedroom with a balcony overlooking the River. A full size kitchen and a wood burning fireplace adds to the rustic feel. Close to all attraction the North provides - blue ribbon trout fishing, kayaking, snowmobiling, hunting,skiing and much more. One dog allowed with an additional daily fee of $35.00 per day per pet.

Fall up north trip

Very nice and quaint. Dock to the river was great; beautiful woods setting. Well stocked kitchen. Could use a new bbq grill, but overall very nice.

Tranquil, peaceful, surroundings.

We were there for 6 nights. It was so peaceful and relaxing. Loved sitting out by the river and listening to the water. The cottage was spacious, clean, and everything that we needed for our vacation. We are already talking about going back.

Family retreat!

Beautiful location and very comfortable, quiet and Clean cabin!

We loved the quiet location and comfortable cabin . It was only a few minutes from several state parks and also Grayling and Gaylord for supplies and gas. We highly recommend Frederic Inn for great Mexican food and only 3 minutes away! The only issue we had was with our VRBO account on the day of our trip, but thank goodness we heard back from Rosemarie, the property owner.

Beautiful place to visit

The home was spotless, grounds were very clean. Very comfortable beds. Love the deck and views, river seemed to be a little low but absolutely breathtaking. The host was always available for any questions or concerns. We pretty much relaxed and enjoyed our northern views. Its a perfecr getaway. We definitely will be going there again. Thank you for sharing your breathtaking place.

Great place on Au Sable River

Owner was very communicative. Beautiful place on the river. The house was sufficiently stocked for all our needs. ORV trail across the river does get noisy on busy weekends. It was a great home base for many day hikes and bird watching.

Really Quaint and Nice Cabin

This was a really nice cabin, with plenty of amenities. It’s right on the upper Au Sable River, close to many hunting and fishing locations, close to town, and overall a convenient location. We would rent it again.

Perfect getaway

Wonderful Autumn weekend

We were celebrating our anniversary and wanted to take in some fall color and fresh air. This cottage checked all of our boxes. The weather cooperated nicely so we took walks and some scenic drives. Hartwick Pines State Park is nearby and worth a visit to view the old growth pine and nearby Otsego Lake was beautiful as well. We would visit here again in the future. The neighbor on one side was friendly and kept to themselves. The cottage was clean and had everything we needed. My husband said he would like to return when he has a group he hunts with nearby at a rustic camp. He’d rather have a more comfortable bed and nicer accommodations! We liked that the cottage had a main floor bedroom. If you had a larger group the two additional bedrooms upstairs were both nice.

Hidden Gem

The cabin was clean and quite lovely--perfect for us--we were three couples. The backyard with the fire pit was very private. If you stay here you'll be close to Hartwick Pines State Park--which makes for a nice day trip walking the trails. Gaylord is also not too far away.

Lovely rustic setting surrounded by peace and tranquillity! It was absolutely exactly what we needed! It was everything as described and more! If a person isn't happy with this, that person wouldn't be happy with anything!

Wonderful cabin on the river

My husband and I spent a week and a half at this beautiful cabin in Frederic. We took day trips around northern Michigan, as well as kayaking and eating out in Grayling. Everything is close, and the cabin was a cozy central place to relax after our daily explorations and hikes. My parents joined us the last few days, and my father even caught a couple fish just up the river from the cabin! We would highly recommend! Communication with the owner was easy and she helped us with everything we needed.
