Our group had a fantastic stay with Stefan and David. The views are amazing and Stefan is just a wonderful host and excellent cook!! He was so helpful in rental car and giving recommendations
I was on a trip to The Bohemian with my wife, 18 yr old daughter and 5 of her 18 yr old girlfriends. It was a challenging trip if that isn't already clear. I was in a no-win-situation from the start. I needed The Bohemian and Stefan to deliver or else it was going to be a very, very, difficult 4 days for me.
The house was great, the property was amazing, and Stefan was the best. Great conversation with Stefan (who, by the end of the trip, was known as uncle Stefy to the girls) and he made some great meals for us during our stay as well. Stefan's cooking is not to be underestimated. Top notch. David, who works the property with/for Stefan was also great. Really good dude who also hung out with us and talked throughout our stay.
The pics of the house are dead-on. House is on maybe a 15ft cliff overlooking the Caribbean side of the island. The beach was easy to get to from the house, super clean and soft, and without any trash or grub.
Overall, it was a fantastic trip. San Salvador turned out being a little trickier to get to and get home from. That was probably the only downside. But other than that, it was a home run of a trip. Many thanks to Stefan and David.
During our recent stay at The Bohemian on the island of San Salvador in the Bahamas, we were absolutely blown away by the exceptional experience we had. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by Stephan, our gracious host, whose incredible cooking left us eagerly anticipating each meal. Every dish he prepared was a delightful culinary adventure.
The staff at The Bohemian were equally impressive, with David standing out for his constant efforts to enhance our stay. His attention to detail and genuine desire to ensure our comfort made a significant impact on our overall experience.
The beach at The Bohemian is nothing short of paradise. The immaculate shores, with their crystal-clear waters and soft, pristine sand, were a dream come true. We were thrilled to find the beach completely free of seaweed, making our time by the ocean even more enjoyable.
Our stay at The Bohemian was unforgettable, and we can’t wait to return. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a perfect getaway in the Bahamas!
Amazing home and hosts we enjoyed everyday there and would be back in a heart beat - thank you Stefan and also to David we had a fantastic time and will hope to be back
The Bohemian was a great location to get away and relax from our busy lives back home. Amazing view from anywhere on property and we were the only people on the beach! Pools were lovely and Stefan is a great cook. We would love to come back to San Sal Island in the future and would stay again.
It was fantastic. The property is beautiful and the ocean and beach are, too. The owner, Stefan, is a wonderful host. He arranged the car rental, entertainment, and went way out of his way to help one of our travelers get to the island because of a Bahamian Air last second schedule change. Stefan is also a great cook! The only downside was that the swimming pools were inoperable due to recent bad weather. Also, it is just a little bit of a climb up and down the rocks to get to the beach, but my 85 year old father-in-law did the climb just fine. I only mention this for folks that might have mobility issues. Overall, it was a great trip. Thanks to the groundskeeper, David, for his friendliness and hospitality, too!
My husband and I stayed at The Bohemian for 1 week at the end of April 2023. The Bohemian is an amazing property! The pictures do not do this place justice, it is stunning. The rooms are clean and comfortable and most have an amazing ocean and pool view. The outdoor shower (yes, it had hot water!) is great for rinsing off the salt water. It's worth the quick trip down the rocks to the beach, there are overhanging rocks that provide shade. You just have to watch the tide if you don't want your things to get soaked. There isn't really feasible option for the property to be able to get beach or lounge chairs to the beach so I highly recommend that you bring some compact travel beach chairs with you if you want to hang on the beach (you'll likely have the whole beach to yourself). They are worth it as we have used them on several trips. Stefan is a wonderful host and chef! He also arranged a rental car for us and is a wealth of information about the island. We have traveled the Caribbean a fair amount and this is definitely at the top of our list of places. San Salvador is "off the beaten path" and not "touristy" which is what we were looking for. If you are looking for a relaxing place to with minimal people then this is the place.
Beautiful home. Close to everything. Stefan makes the stay! I think he could do anything!!
San Salvador island is the definition of beauty. Peaceful and serene and yet plenty of activity if you want that.
A few tips that helped us:
Be sure to rent a car with him. It costs near nothing.
Let him do the cooking. His simple recipies are so well balanced and tasty.
He organized a massage for us at the house with one phone call.
If you want something... ask him. Im sure he can oblige.
Bring repellant for sand flies. They're everywhere.
10/10... will go again!
What a week! Our group was there to celebrate my husband’s 40th birthday. Stefan was the best host, giving us options, happily assisting us and suggesting things. The property itself is so cool you don’t even need to go to the beach, but when you do it’s a quick walk down (5 mins) and you’re there. Basically deserted. Absolutely breathtaking views, sunsets were unbelievable. The food was fantastic. Our group kept asking what Stafen used in his recipes because they were so good! The island itself is really filled with only locals. People who want to venture off the property typically visit club med or go fishing or go on a day trip to a deserted island. All of these can be organized by Stefan. In all we absolutely loved our stay and will return for sure!!
Words cannot describe. Where to begin ? The Bohemian is the sort of thing only dreamers and visionaries can come up with. Stefan has opened up his
Home and heart to the world and a stay here will leave a lasting mark on your existence. I booked a 9 person stay here to celebrate a 50th birthday and I cannot imagine a better place to do it. We enjoyed Stefan’s culinary skills daily and even the most picky of pallets were satisfied every single time. We arrived as guest and left as friends. The views are breathtaking and the experience is unparalleled.
If you are looking for peace, quiet and privacy this is the place for you! It feels like you have your own private island. Stefan was great and made us feel at home. We needed to relax and got exactly what we wanted. Would definitely stay again!
Stefan is an awesome host! He made us feel like family. The property is spectacular with breath-taking sunset views! Absolutely perfect place in paradise. Will definately stay here again next time we're on San Salvador!
Stefan makes you feel like you are part of his family. Like you’ve seen each other again after many years. He shows that through his cooking and service. Rooms are beautiful and clean and spacious. Be ready to experience some
thing you’ve never done before… from the sunset to the pools to Cliff’s to the beach, everything is flawless. If you like resort where you stay in line for a drink or can’t find a place to put your towel on the beach, This is a good lesson for you!
The property is absolutely gorgeous. The online pictures, which are good, do not do it justice. The pools are great. The beach is secluded and rather nice. There is a bit of a current out front but nothing overly strong. It just makes snorkeling North slightly slower.
There are a few reefs and rock formations right out in the water. Tons of fish, crabs, plants and sea urchins to look at.
The pools are comfortable and fun. They do get filled with sea water so they are salty. However that only adds to how nice they are - it’s so east to float and relax. Every now and then a crab wanders in but they don’t bother anyone and are easy to remove.
We had Stefan, the property owner, prepare our meals. He looks for suggestions as to what the group likes. We only listed my allergy needs and allowed him to prepare what he wanted. Every meal was delicious. Definitely request his spaetzle and lentils. Stefan makes wonderful sauces. As noted, every meal was good and it well worth the price. He also makes very good scrambled eggs - his egg seasoning is very good as is his home made bread.
As for the rest of the island, it is beautiful and peaceful. The residents are kind and helpful. Definitely make it a point to stop at the various road side bars for an ice cold Kalik.
Make sure you head to the North end of the island for a tour of the Gerasce research center!
Stephan’s house was amazing. My husband and I spent 7 days relaxing and enjoying the slower-paced island life. The property is set up perfectly for a couple to visit, a small group, or even a slightly larger event. Our bedroom and the dining area had windows on 3/4 of the walls, so we were able to wake up, dine, and go to bed with a beautiful ocean view. We were able to move from pool to beach to pool throughout the day and still enjoy the ocean view from the creative set up of the 4 pools. The beaches are amazing and crystal clear like swimming pool water. Despite all of the beauty, the stay would not have been the same without Stefan. He is a wonderful host and chef and an intellectual conversationalist. He provided us with wonderful meals one to three times a day and was always there to help us if we needed anything. Overall, the stay was relaxing and wonderful.
The Bohemian is a great place if you want peace, quiet, a gorgeous beach and stunning views. I rented a suite on this sprawling property set on a cliff adjacent to a magnificent beach. You can also rent the entire property if you’re a big group. My suite was in a newly-built stand-alone building. I think I can describe it as contemporary with cool simple clean lines. The views from the Bohemian are beautiful. There are 4 pools and one pool has a hole in the middle of it that goes through the cliff. You can climb down a ladder and end up in a cove below. How cool is that? There’s even a jacuzzi on a rooftop. I booked some jacuzzi time with wine while watching the sunset. That was ah-mazing! Walking to the next building to get breakfast brought a smile to my face (that ocean view!) every morning. The beach with its crystal clear blue water and soft sand is worthy of a magazine cover. There are no trees for shade but some areas of the cliff have recess areas where you can get some protection from the sun. I had the beach all to myself. Loved it!
The Bohemian is the place you dream of to look for peace tranquility and paradise. The grounds are jaw dropping and the pools are spectacular. Beach is amazing. The owner Stefan is an amazing cook. A must stay when visiting San Salvador, Bahamas
It's hard to put into words the sheer beauty and tranquility that the Bohemian offers to its guest. The owner, Stefan, personally built this one-of-a-kind place by importing quality materials from all around the world and constructing his dream resort right on the edge of a beautiful cliff overlooking the ocean. Virtually every room on the property was designed to have incredible ocean views.
Stefan was very easy to communicate with before, during and after our trip. He even picked us up and dropped us off from the airport free of charge! He is a kind, honest, and funny host who treats his guests with respect and is easy to get along with.
We stayed in a beautiful room with a comfortable master bed that had wide views overlooking the ocean. The rooms are quite large and have plenty of space. They also have air conditioning and fans that work well.
On the property, there a multiple infinity pools built into the edge of a beachfront cliff with breathtaking views of the clear ocean water. We counted at least 5 pools, which is plenty to spread out if you're looking for some privacy from other guests. The property also has beach towels, bicycles, a small golf course, a ping pong table, and plenty of other cool things to keep you entertained. For the more adventurous folks, there is an impressive reef right off the back of the property. You can easily access this reef by swimming from the beach. The depth of the water seemed to be around 10-15 feet and there were numerous fish including snapper and grouper.
I can't speak highly enough of the food! Stefan, the owner, is a cooking enthusiast. He takes food very seriously and puts time and attention into every meal he creates. Get ready to be spoiled! There is even a greenhouse next door to the kitchen where fresh produce is grown. For a small daily fee, Stefan will cook all your meals and serve the food in the beautiful community kitchen, which boasts 270 degree panoramic views of the ocean through large sliding glass doors. There is also a full self-serve bar where you can make drinks and a big wine cellar. Drinks are available at a very reasonable price.
Overall, our experience at the Bohemian was better than we could have imagined. We already can't wait to go back and visit Stefan again. I'm already craving his cooking!
The hospitality, friendship, and food that we experienced at The Bohemian cannot be quantified in a short summary. Stefan is an incredibly gracious host, and has lovingly built a slice of heaven on the breathtaking coast of San Salvador. His connections to pilots, rental car companies, and fellow residents is unmatched in the Bahamas. Stay for a week or a month, for honeymoon or happy occasion.. and while you’re at it, challenge Stefan for a few rounds of golf!
