My husband and I enjoyed this home so much! Beautiful location, house is immaculate, communication with owners was perfect! Cannot say enough wonderful things. We booked it again immediately for a trip we having coming in the fall.
This 1-bedroom, 1.5 bath cabin is perfectly appointed. New appliances and a cook’s kitchen make it a comfortable home-away-from-home a few miles from Charlottesville. Quiet and set back from the road with a view of the stars at night. We loved this place!
Totally and aesthetically renovated cottage that provides every desired amenity and need. Don’t miss an opportunity to check in and drive only 6 miles to downtown Charlottesville as well as to recommended vineyards. You will not be disappointed. Owners are delightful - a real plus.
We loved our stay at the Fairwood Cottage in Charlottesville. The cottage was very clean and had everything we needed for our stay for a week for our anniversary. Cindy was very responsive to any questions about the area. I would highly recommend.
Cleanest property we've stayed at in 30+ years of vacation rentals. Everything provided was upscale and in excellent condition. Since we live in a more rural setting, the road noise when outside was noticeable.

Outstanding property! My wife and I enjoyed a week at Cindy’s cottage and it was perfect. Probably the nicest rental I’ve ever booked. The quality of the materials used to update this cottage are outstanding. Location is quiet and accessible to all of the areas attractions.
Looks like new. Very clean. Nice kitchen. Enjoyed both covered patio with grill as well as front covered porch with rocking chairs. Beautiful grounds. Location easy to get to locations.
This was our second time staying at the cottage and I cannot say enough how WONDERFULLY CLEAN this home is. I would recommend to anyone to stay here. The house is close enough to Charlottesville and plenty of wineries or just relax on the quiet front porch or by the fire pit. Cindy is always available and willing to answer any questions. You will not be disappointed!
This little house is absolutely spectacular and we enjoyed our 10-day stay immensely. Everything in the house is top quality, and the people who own the place live nearby and are delightful to interact with.....especially Cindy. She is a genuinely nice, nice lady. I would recommend this lovely home to any small group who is looking to visit Charlottesville. Although the house is small, the outside area can accommodate large family events easily. There is also a lovely firepit area, BBQ grill and ample parking.
We needed to stay in Charlottesville for a month after my daughter had surgery. Found this wonderful cottage out in the country and it was absolutely amazing. Cottage was super clean, had everything you need. The area is quiet and only 15 mins from Charlottesville. We couldn’t do much because of my daughter’s recovery, but the cottage is also close to some wonderful wineries. I would stay here again in a heart beat for a couples weekend! Thank you Cindy for having us.
Wow - Cindy and Duane’s cottage is the nicest VRBO property we’ve ever stayed in. We enjoyed a week at the Fairwood Cottage as a workcation destination and it was just perfect for my husband and I! The cottage has been fully renovated with high-end appliances, furnishings, washer/dryer, fully stocked kitchen and a beautiful front and back porch including a gas grill. The high speed internet allowed both my husband and I to work remotely and participate simultaneously in zoom meetings. When not working, we enjoyed the beautiful surroundings and nearby wineries. We couldn’t recommend this place any more and are already thinking about making it an annual trip!
This is just the right size to have room to spread out but not get stuck with a multi-bedroom house you don’t need. Everything is clean and modern and thoughtfully supplied. It was just perfect. The location is a little odd, neither in the country or the city and next to a main road. But it is convenient to shops and historic sites and has nice views. I would definitely stay here again.
This cottage is superbly designed and very comfortable. The kitchen has everything you need, including a variety of spices and seasonings. The grill on the back porch is a nice extra. The king size mattress is extremely comfortable. Location is convenient, just south of Charlottesville and within an easy distance of many wineries and historical sites. Highly recommended!!
Comfortable cottage between Charlottesville and Scottsville
Very attractive cottage in a great location. All kitchen appliances, utensils, crockery, etc. of the highest standard as were the bathrooms and seating. Spent every evening having sundowners on the grassy slope behind the cottage. Would have stayed longer but it was booked.
The house was just the right size for the 2 of us. It was IMPECCABLY clean and very well maintained. Highly recommend for any couple looking to have a house to themselves on their vacation. Would definitely rent again.
This property is a model of the perfect VRBO. Our hosts Cindy & Duane were cordial, kind, always available and quick to answer our few questions and remained so from the very first contact until our very last day of our stay. The cottage is truly lovely, very comfortable, extremely clean, and well-furnished for your stay. It is airy with great light and P.S., the sunsets were magnificent! We stayed for 8 weeks and everything we needed to live as if at home was there. The bed is fabulous; the modern kitchen is just the right size; and the two bathrooms and separate laundry room are greatly appreciated features. It's perfect and I recommend you GO and see for yourselves. Your dream VRBO awaits you!
The Fairwood Cottage was very well equipped with unexpected high-end furnishings, offering great comfort and ease. Cindy was easy to reach and respond quickly to any questions we had. The location is fabulous for anything in the area to get to in minutes. So very convenient to wineries, restaurants, grocery, etc.
We enjoyed the cottage very much. The kitchen has everything one could possibly need (and much more) and there is also an outdoor gas grill on the small back patio that we used several times during our stay. The ceiling fans in the bedroom and outdoor grill/patio area were appreciated. And having a half bath in addition to the full, main bath and a washer/dryer was great. The cottage, located on Route 20, is just 15 minutes from downtown C’ville and within 15-20 minutes of many wineries. All in all, an excellent, immaculate cottage that provides everything needed for a relaxing and pleasurable stay in Charlottesville. Bonus: we were able to escape the 17-year cicadas for a week and there were no mosquitoes during our stay in early June! Perfect!
We live locally but needed somewhere to stay while we had some work done at our house and this cottage was a dream. It is light and airy, furnished beautifully (stylish but comfortable), the kitchen was so well equipped with all you could possibly need, quality cookware and appliances plus loads of spare cabinet space.
The King bed was a dream - so comfortable and there is a great sound machine that we've actually ordered for ourselves to have at home (we have a toddler so it's always nice to have a sound machine to help drown out distracting noises!).
Cindy is a top class host - she has put a lot of thought in to what her guests might need and has thought of literally everything!
I would recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a clean, comfortable, classy place to stay that is just 5 mins drive in to Charlottesville. The outside space is also really nice - lots of open space, well manicured lawns and with the front and back porches there is always somewhere nice to sit outside when the weather is nice.
Staying here made being away from all our home comforts really easy :). Thank you Cindy!
What a fun weekend!
The cottage was spotless and everything we needed was right at our fingertips. The decor was stunning and the bed was so very comfortable with linens that had the feel of complete luxury.
We spent the weekend hiking a bit and then found ourselves enjoying the amazing mountain views from a local winery. We bought a bottle of wine there and brought it back to enjoy with our grilled steaks and swordfish. The patio was private and we enjoyed sipping our wine while enjoying the brisk evening air.
Additionally, Cindy was a wonderful hostess. We found a small bottle of prosecco and some chocolates on the table when we arrived! A perfect way to begin our Valentines Day weekend. She even came over to introduce herself and brought with her some ground coffee for us to enjoy the following morning.
Thank you Cindy! We will definitely be back!

We are almost natives to area as we have been living in Charlottesville for over 35 years. With experience in the construction industry as well as property management, it was an easy transition into buying and renovating this home to create a vacation rental.
Why they chose this property
The location is beautiful and private but very close to everything. And, we live right next door so we are available if renters have questions or concerns.
What makes this property unique
As soon as you enter the home, you know it is well loved. The design and the attention to detail is really special.
