We are perfectly located. It's a 6-minute drive to Ludington State Park on the Lake Michigan shore with its beautiful beaches, lighthouse, hiking trails, paddle sport trails, and picnic & grill areas. You can also boat across Hamlin Lake to the state park, or to the sand dunes in the State Forest. Weekend
Cottage was perfect for us and kitchen stocked with everything we needed. My only issue was that we had to pay for an entire weekly docking fee despite only being there for 3 nights. Seems excessive especially in April when no one is even using the marina.

Fishing trip with Brothers
Our second time staying at Vacation Lane and had a great time. Tina was available any time we had a question. Cabin was just across the street from the boat launch making getting in and out easy. Cabin was clean and central to our boat docking and the fish cleaning station. We would book again.

Tina and Ed are lovely people to know and property owners to rent from. They truly think of everything you might need to have a special stay at their Robin cottage. Highly recommend their rental on Hamlin Lake!

Relaxing, comfortable, and beautiful
The Robin cabin is perfectly located near the water. We loved the screened in porch and the use of the kayaks. The playground area was also fun even if we were all adults. The hosts were wonderful and thought about all the little details that were appreciated like night lights, and paper products. We are a pretty picky family when it comes to cabins and locations but we all agreed we would stay here again.

Our new favorite place
This was our first trip north for vacation (typically we go South) and I can say we were thoroughly impressed. This location took me back to my childhood and my favorite vacation spot I went to growing up. It's the perfect little community...not too crowded or crazy, perfect amenities, great for families, tons around to do. The place might seem a bit small for 4 people, but honestly the only thing we really did there was sleep. We were outside all day everyday. The docks and swim area are right there, and plenty of seating for you to hang out in while the kids play. The sand was super fun to play in, and we caught plenty of fish off the dock. The water was SO clear, and the kids loved the playground as well. We had everything we needed and more. We took a couple day trips to nearby towns, but honestly could've spent the whole week and way more just on the proper. The owners were amazing! So communicative and friendly- and we loved the little surprise basket they left for us! We can't wait to come back and make more memories!!!

Convenient Stay for Young Family
Very clean, quaint cottage in a convenient area. Close to all Ludington attractions but also convenient location in Vacation Lane for easy access to the beach and water. With a 7-month old and a 3-year old, the cozy space had enough room for all of us. Fans and heat in every room made it convenient for climate control for the uncertain weather shifts in early June. Smooth process and communication all around with booking, arrival, and exiting. Definitely would return!

Fun Columbus day weekend
We had so much fun at Tina's cottage! So close to nice trails, 4 lighthouses in nearby shore towns, and Luddington downtown with yummy restaurants. The cottage has everything you need, and the 2 kayaks are a great addition!

Originally booked this for a friends wedding that was rescheduled and decided to go anyway and it was quite the get away! The boys caught king salmons, the cottage was clean & equipped with necessities and games, the kids enjoyed the playground, fishing from the deck was relaxing, overall a very peaceful and friendly environment! Tina & Ed have a nice place and are very sweet people!

Cute Cottage
Robin cottage is a very nice spot to stay on Hamlin Lake -unfortunately for us, Mother Nature decided to rain all week so we never used the Kayaks! But my husband did catch a couple perch off of the dock- they offer a nice swimming area and sandy beach for kids.Tina was very nice and, of course, it was a pleasure to meet sweet Junie!

We had a great week!
Comfortable and clean. We enjoyed being so close to the lake and spent a lot of time sitting in the Adirondack gazing at the lake as the sun went down. Thank you for a fine trouble free week!

Peaceful Get Away
The cottage was perfect for our Fall get away! We hadn’t realized it was literally next to the lake, which was a nice surprise! We did a lot of hiking in Ludington State park but will be back to enjoy Lake Hamlin in the summer next time! Tina was great about responding to our questions before and during our trip!

Sweet little cabin with a great view from porch, comfy beds, simple place to recharge.
Cute cabin, loved the porch! It is a little cabin lane community full of other really nice owners that take care of the property. There were other little kids so my daughter could play with friends while we watched right from the front porch. We were right next to the playground so it was perfect for us. Tina and Ed had games and a lot of books for kids so you could entertain yourself easily. I’d bring a high chair if we had room in our car but we didn’t so it would be awesome to have one somewhere if needed. I suggested a few child safety clips for the cupboards for the smaller kids that come. We had to use the bench in front because our youngest constantly tried to get into them. But everything was comfy, clean and perfectly described. I’d love to be able to rent here again, and bring family to rent some of the other rentable cabins on that lane.

A great family oriented place to stay
This rental was perfect for us...we were able to launch our 16' deep V boat at south bayou, go under 2 small bridges and we were at the cottage! Then walked across the street to retrieve truck and trailer. Plenty of parking available. Grandkids loved the playground and protected clean sandy swim area and neighborhood campfire. Many species of fish were caught. Sunsets were beautiful. Boat to the dunes! You can fish upper lake or a bayou if lower lake is too windy. Boat to Barnhards for cocktails or dinner! Small store and bait shop within a short walk (we discovered it as we were leaving lol). Very much a quiet family atmosphere here...lots of little children around. Owners live on site. Many privately owned cabins are quite close by, but everyone we met were very friendly.

About the host

My husband and I purchased the Robin / Cardinal summer cottage when we we retired from teaching in the Fall of 2018. Ed taught Theatre Arts at Kalamazoo College, and I (Tina) taught elementary school in Plainwell, MI. We're so happy to have found this charming cottage on the Vacation Lane cooperative where we are right on beautiful Hamlin Lake, surrounded by friendly neighbors, and with so many great things to do in the area. We stay on the Cardinal side of the duplex cabin as often as we can in the summer, so we will probably be there when you are, but we respect your privacy and we have separate porches and entrances. Although Vacation Lane HOA rules state that renting guests are NOT allowed to bring pets, (sorry) we have a lovely chocolate lab (always on leash) who loves to meet & greet dog-loving guests.

Why they chose this property

The Robin Cottage is the Vacation Lane resort cottage closest to the lake, the fire pit, the play area, the docks, and the swim area! We love relaxing on the grounds, sitting out on the docks, kayaking, playing ping-pong in the Gathering Place, roasting marshmallows on the campfire, watching the kids play and swim, and we think that you will, too. We are kid-friendly, and your kids will love running free and playing on the Vacation Lane property. We offer 2 complimentary kayaks for your use with the Robin rental. Also feel free to bring your own kayaks, canoe, jet ski, boat and fishing gear. Boats can be launched right across the street on the South Bayou, and parked on their trailers for free on the south side of the property. If docking your boat or jet-ski on the property, there is an 18-ft. limit and a weekly charge starting at $100, depending on size and slip, and YOU MUST RESERVE YOUR DOCK AT THE TIME OF BOOKING. There is also a jet ski and boat rental 2 doors down from us on N. Lakeshore Drive. (Guests bring their own sheets, pillow cases, and bath towels.).

What makes this property unique

Besides the accommodations right on the property, the Ludington area has so much to offer. Ludington is a resort town 4.5 miles down Lakeshore Drive, on Lake Michigan. There are beaches, a large marina, a lighthouse, dining, ice cream, fudge, shopping, parks, museums, art, and music galore! Turn right at the stop sign at Stix Restaurant, and you'll be in Ludington State Park, on the other side of Hamlin Lake, with its beautiful Lake-Michigan beach, lighthouse, hiking trails, sand dunes, canoe & kayak rentals and lots of family activity programs every week. We're still exploring all of the things to do and to see in the area!
