Absolutely wonderful!
Our children 9 and 12 loved the lake and dock. They fished and swam constantly. We had them in life jackets so everyone could relax as the water gets deep quite quickly. As noted the kitchen is fully equipped and we enjoyed cooking and bringing our food down to the water or out onto the screen porch. The mist on the lake in the morning was serene and lovely. We can’t wait to come back.

Beautiful spot on the lake
The house was made for relaxing. Lovely views of water and trees. The house had nicely renovated bathrooms and kitchen, good TV and Wi-Fi, and very comfortable beds. We were visiting the area to see family and everyone enjoyed the water access, deck and dock areas. The pool table was a hit, as was the screened porch overlooking the water.

Outstanding location, Comfortable house
The house was clean and well maintained. Well stocked with kitchen utensils, glasses, plates, cookware and cutlery. The kitchen appliances worked well. Large sectional couch in the living room was very comfortable. Beautiful screened in porch with a perfect view of the lake. There is a large deck outside the house with room for 2 large picnic tables and lots of seating. The lakefront dock area was large and had ample room for assorted chairs, a table, and 2 umbrellas. There is a storage box with various water toys and the property included 2 kayaks with paddles and life preservers. There is a ramp leading into the lake from the dock area as well as a small sandy spot with shallow water which was great for our dog. The water was clean and a comfortable temperature. We enjoyed our stay and would love to return in the future.

Lovely
Had a really nice stay! The water is crystal clear and there is a nice Little Rock staircase down into a Sandy beach, the dogs had an absolute blast swimming all day! The closed in porch was used everyday! And the pool table was a big hit! We grilled everyday, grill worked wonderfully. Only things to note is the oven took a long time to cook things, almost double what it normally would take. And the air conditioning is difficult to find a happy medium between being cool enough upstairs without being Antarctica in the downstairs bedroom. Overall had a great stay and the owners were very responsive to any questions I had. Thanks again.

Nice home, excellent location
Our family of 6 adults (3 couples) had a wonderful stay here. Ideal spot on the lake, centrally located but still a fairly quiet cove, especially on the weekdays. Dock and waterfront area are fabulous. Also enjoyed taking daily walks in scenic nearby neighborhoods with great hills for exercise. Under 10 min drive to many stores and great restaurants too. Loved the screened in porch with view of the lake, large outdoor table, open main room, nice updated bathrooms, and excellent WiFi. Kitchen was well equipped but tight for 6 adults and related food and supplies. Also insufficient space for 6 to eat at the table indoors. Lower level provided nice privacy and space for one couple but A/C was uneven so quite cold down there. We appreciated having 3 queen beds but that made one room very cramped for space. Overall, we highly recommend this house and Mary provided quick responses to our questions.

The Lake House
Our family had a wonderful time at this property, which has a great location on the lake. The house is clean with updated bathrooms and has easy access to the water (yes, there are steps, but they are recently redone and solid). We enjoyed the dock area immensely — reading books, relaxing, and jumping in the lake.

Fun lake house!
We had a wonderful week at this lovely lake house! It’s in a great location, on a very quiet street and a pretty area of the lake. Lots of the opposite shore is undeveloped. It has a fantastic deep water dock with lots of seating and easy access to the water, which was shallow at the shore and sandy, great for the dog! We swam, kayaked and rented a pontoon boat from a very friendly marina nearby (Gerard’s). The house is very comfortable and has lots of seating. The two full baths and the kitchen are really nice and look new. There was plenty of room to spread out and it has an awesome screened in upper porch. We ate there most nights. Great for playing games. The bedrooms are small but comfortable. We really had everything we needed for a great vacation!!! We did have a question for Mary while we were there and she was super responsive. There are also some great restaurants in the area. We enjoyed Lucia, La Picolina and Marketplace. A great experience overall!

Lakeside enjoyment
Me and the family had a wonderful time staying at this lakeside property. We especially loved sitting in the covered porch enjoying our meals while still being able to look at the liveliness of the lake. I have young children and it was very easy to access the lake and get into the water while still feeling comfortable with their safety. The house was very comfortable and the kitchen was very easy to use.

Wonderful quiet lakeside getaway
We had a great time staying at this property over Labor Day weekend. The house was exactly as shown in pictures. It’s not anything fancy inside, but it’s clean and comfortably fits 3 couples in private bedrooms, and could have fit even more on the two futons downstairs. The lake was beautiful and the new floating dock was a great place to lounge in the sun. They also left two kayaks with the property which we got plenty of use out of. Mary was quick to respond to any questions we had. Highly recommend!

Last minute getaway success
We are a family who was looking for a last minute getaway and this did the trick! It was fun exploring all the little quirks of the home (the weather stick was our favorite in the screened in porch), we were always by the dock on the nice chairs, fishing (we caught 3), and enjoyed the atmosphere of being on the lake. Mary was great and answered all of our question! Couldn't have asked for more! Thanks again for our memories!

Some good and some bad
The lake was amazing. The house is right on the lake, and you can jump right in and swim. The lake is beautiful. The inside of the house had a really awful musty smell that I couldn't get rid of, no matter how much febreze I sprayed. There were ants everywhere. The house was old, dark and musty. The outside porch was rusty and not a place I could enjoy or relax at. And, the host does not provide bed sheets. I will not be returning.

Great place for relaxation and family fun!
The cottage is wonderful with views of the lake and is very comfortable. My personal favorite was early mornings having coffee on the screen in porch overlooking the tranquil lake. We spent many hours swimming and boating. We all had a wonderful stay and made such wonderful memories that we will be coming back next year.

Relaxing Vacation On The Lake
We have enjoyed vacationing at Mary and Sven's lake house every summer since 2009 and we always look forward to returning! Their listing description is very accurate, the property is always clean and well maintained. They continually make improvements, and this year, the resurfaced dock/deck was wonderful! They provide a book that is filled with useful information about the house, as well as the activities and restaurants in the area. Any questions are always answered in a timely manner. We highly recommend this lake house; you won't be disappointed!

Beautiful Lake House
Do yourself a favor and book this house for your next getaway! We recently stayed at Mary and Sven's Lake house for a girls getaway and it was such an amazing experience. The house itself is great you can tell the owners take pride in their property. It was super clean, beds were comfortable, and plenty of room for everyone to spread out. The best part though is the dock and lake views. The dock is a great place to hang out all day and was even big enough for our morning yoga session. Thank you Mary and Sven for such an amazing trip and sharing your home with us! We will be booking again for next year!

Amazing 4th of July holiday get-away vacation
Thank you for a wonderful 4th of July holiday vacation. Mary was very nice and offered clear advise on everything about the house in addition to the "Welcome" book which had alot of details. We loved everything about the house, the dock and the lake. The house was very clean and the AC was wonderful on the hot days. The bathrooms and kitchens were very fresh and new. The kitchen was very well equipped, so we cooked great dinners. The Wi-Fi worked well which our children appreciated. The home owners around the lake set off fireworks for the 4th of July weekend every night we were there (they took turns with shows). We watched the private show from the dock and the enclosed porch after dinner. We went out for dinner to Yokohama, an amazing Japanese restaurant which had delicious specialty sushi rolls. We rented a boat from Echo Marina (~15min away) a few days to cruise around the lake and swim in different coves. We also enjoyed the water on our floats by the house dock. We rented a canoe from Clark Outdoors (~30min away), so we could paddle around the cove and fish too. We fished off the dock, off the boat and the canoe as well. A very well stocked supermarket (Big Y) is only ~5min away. The town of New Milford is adorable with a center green, local stores and restaurants (~8min away)Overall a wonderful, relaxing vacation. We look forward to coming back again. Thank you for renting out your wonderful lake home!

Rustic and beautiful
We rented this home a week before our son's wedding at the Candlewood Inn. Mary was terrific to work with. Very available and communicative. The home was rustic but comfortable and had all the amenities. Enjoyed the dock, grill and especially the screened in porch. Had never had to bring our own linens and towels before, but apparently that is common here. It worked beautifully for us. Thank you Mary and Sven!

Our stay at Candlewood was exactly what we wanted
We had a perfect vacation in this beautiful home with plenty of privacy in a quiet neighborhood. I started off my day with a sunrise yoga session on the dock. The lake was so peaceful. We enjoyed hiking Candlewood Mountain just 3 miles down the road. The nearby marina has boats, jet-skies, and kayaks for rent. The Olsen's have a cozy home with new appliances that lends itself to a relaxing and stress free get away. If we didn't feel like cooking we would drive our boat to the local spot to eat and drink called Down the Hatch. We also found a neat spot where people climb a cliff and jump off into the lake. We just anchored our boat had some lunch and watched people jump. One day we checked out one of the local wineries. They have tastings daily and beautiful grounds to have picnics. When we weren't exploring the lake or the local area we relaxed on the dock. Our stay at Candlewood was exactly what we wanted relaxing, beautiful scenery, and adventure. We are coming back every year!

A wonderful CT escape
I am from Maine and we have many lakes around us. However many of the residences on the lakes are camps. This property is somewhere I could live year round! We Mainer's refer to such a property as a lake house. It was spotless and had all ammedities we needed. The owners left a very informative binder for us which was helpful being out of town. We spent a lot of our time down at the beautiful huge dock down on the water. This property was wonderful and I look forward to hopefully an annual rental.

girls weekend
There were four of us girls. We have been having girls weekends once or twice a year for the last 15 years and this was by far the best one!! We plan to stay at the lake every year now. The was beautiful and clean and felt very private. Everything was super clean and just as described. Mary was available with any questions we had. There was a massive book of resources and tips for staying in the area. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking our meals at home. There was a grocery store 5 minutes away. The open concept kitchen was great for hanging out and cooking at the same time. There is a lovely screened in porch on the second floor over looking the water. Great spot for late night chats or early morning tea. You can even sleep out there! We spent most of our time by the water on the gigantic deck. There was So much room we decided to do some Pop Pilates out there in the early morning. I will definitely stay here again! Longer next time, two nights wasn't enough.

Best Location on The Lake!
We have stayed at Sven and Mary's house on the lake every summer since 2009 and always enjoy every minute of our stay! The house is impeccably maintained. Relaxing on the porch or any one of the decks or docks and enjoying the surrounding beautiful and peaceful view is a favorite pastime! The lake is perfect for floating around or swimming, especially when the sun is just about to set. We can't wait to return next summer! Thanks again Sven and Mary!

Relaxing Home with Amenities in Ideal Location
The home's 3 decks and spacious boat dock (great for lounging/laying out) made our time on Lake Candlewood a real treat. The configuration of the home is perfect for gathering with friends/family, as the fully equipped kitchen is right next to the living room's wraparound couch and outdoor/screened porch. The house is tucked away in a calm neighborhood, though only 5 minutes from the Big Y grocery store. The view from this side of the lake is perfect, especially at sunset. We are so thankful to have stayed in Mary and Sven's home for our getaway from the city. Mary was super responsive and even gave us ideas on activities in and around town! And the security deposit was returned in a timely fashion. Thank you so much, and we hope to come back and stay here again.
