When we arrived the doors to both bedrooms were closed. Upon opening the door into the main bedroom there was a disgusting very strong smell. It stayed for our entire 3 night stay but not as distinct as when I first opened the door. Other than that we had a lovely stay. Beds being an elderly couple we found not as comfortable as we would have liked but got better over the 3 night stay. First night woke all the time. Liked the open space & privacy. We were lucky enough to even have a reindeer come up to our kitchen window. First one we had seen. All in all lively stay. Tried to contact owners to find out what we needed to do with recycling but got no reply. No communication at all. So just left outside & put fresh bags in bins inside. Also left bedroom doors open. Abergavenny has very beautiful scenery.
Absolutely loved it here, so peaceful and quiet. Just we wanted but within easy reach of Abergavenny and Monmouth for provisions. We loved it so much we are going to book for next year!
Much nicer than the photos! Beautifully clean and cozy! Very well equipped, everything and more than you would need, washer with dryer, dishwasher, stove, microwave. Comfy beds, beautiful linens, plenty of thick towels, nice tiled bathroom. One of the nicest cottages we’ve ever rented. They even put up a little Xmas tree for us!
We really enjoyed our stay here over Christmas. Barn is in a very quiet and peaceful location, and was clean and very warm and cosy with heating on. Located on a large field, which was ideal for our dogs to go out. Just a 15 minute drive into Abergavenny, which has some lovely little shops, a market and plenty of places too eat. Would love to visit again sometime.
My 18 yr old son, 7 yr old dog & I went for 2 nights to celebrate my 60th birthday. The barn is very comfortable & cosy. Instructions to get there was spot on. It was very clean except for a couple of cobwebs with spiders in the corner of the main bedroom & lounge but this didn't bother me. Throws & towels provided for dogs, loved sitting outside with a cuppa in the mornings watching the sun come up. This accommodation was ideal for going out walking in the day & chilling in the evenings.
Idyllic cottage for people with well behaved dogs. Completely stand alone cottage surrounded by fields which our dogs loved to run and play in in safety. The cottage was well furnished and cozy (even the dogs were provided for with a box of dog towels). The cottage itself is close to Abergavenny where there are many nice places to dine out or takeaway. We thoroughly recommend this property for a relaxing week or two with furry friends.
We had the most wonderful time staying here. The house was surprisingly spacious and immaculately clean. The terrace became a second room and we spent most of our time there, joyfully chatting and admiring the view. The highlight for me was the joy the dogs had with their freedom and trips up the field at first light. The views from up there are incredible. The surrounding countryside was so lovely to explore and the locals all tremendously friendly. The host was very lovely to deal with and prompt with responding to queries. Thank you so much for a brilliant stay, we loved it.
“Y Stablau” was clean and had everything we needed as a family. The beds are very comfortable and the surroundings so peaceful.
The weather was amazing and we were able to visit the surrounding area without travelling too far.
Abergavenny is a lovely vibrant town, we hope to visit again.
Thank you for letting us stay at Y Stablau . Diolch.
Fantastic location in a hay field set well back from the road. Good size rooms and pretty clean apart from cobwebs and a bit of dust here and there. The mattresses are some type of memory foam which don't offer much support and particularly poor is the double bed and could do with a new, firm mattress. The decor in the lounge was not really in keeping with the setting, being a strong purple and was quite hard to live with, the cushions old and thin and the sofa requiring restuffing or replacing. The bathroom and kitchen decor was a little old-fashioned but served the purpose. The shower water pressure was fair. A welcome pack would have appreciated with instructions of where to find the Wi-Fi code for those that can't think on their feet, instructions for the oven and other useful information for guests. And this place is crying out for a hot tub and french doors out onto the patio instead of a solid front door so that one can enjoy the view a little from inside. Overall a fantastic location, good accommodation and responsive and pleasant communication from owners. We just couldn't help thinking that this could be so much better.
Absolutely wonderful stay, so so peaceful and relaxing, lovely area and the converted barn was perfect well looked after clean and has everything you need, spent most of the time sat on the bench admiring the beautiful countryside and the family of foxes at the end of the field. Beautiful, didn't want to leave definitely would go back.

The whole weekend was amazing ,the weather was all over the place ,but the barn was like a home from home, ideal for sight seeing ,but if you want tranquility like we did .we will be back .
This was our first time away with our 5 month old pup. Was very impressed with the place. So much ground for the dog to roam. Felt very relaxed. Daughter & hubbywho loved ve in Pontypool came over to visit us.Always love going to Wales. Did local walks. Will be visiting this place again.
The photos of this beautiful barn conversion just don't do it justice. It's modern, light and airy, with everything you could possibly need. Also spotlessly clean. It is quite literally in the middle of a huge field, perfect for children and dogs. It was so peaceful and I couldn't recommend it more highly. We will definitely be re-booking. Thank you for a lovely stay.
Family trip for my husband and Luna (dog) birthday. Massive secure field for Luna to run around in and explore. Lots of dog friendly places. This is our third time here. It's so comfortable and warming its like being at home.
