If this is your first trip to Akumal, you are in store for a marvelous adventure. “Akumal” means “place of the turtles” in the Mayan language. In season, you can watch the turtles lay their eggs and then march to the sea. You will never forget the experience.

Our condominium is particularly lovely because we have very high ceilings and a large, open floor plan. The living and dining area adjoin, but do not seem like the same space. I have decorated with antiques and art from the region, so you will fell more at home than in some other rentals. We kept it to ourselves for ten years and only started renting in 2008.

We have two spacious bedrooms with king size beds. Both rooms are light and airy. The Master's bath in the room area, while the Guest Room's full bath is just outside the door.

Fabulous ruins, snorkeling, deep sea diving, turtle watching, shopping, relaxing and lots of fun await you here. I look forward to hearing from you. Call or email with any questions.

Akumal: We are only a ten minute walk from the 'center' of Akumal. There are two small grocery stores, an Internet room that is very reasonable, a few shops and a laundry. There are also three very good restaurants here in the center. You can access Akumal beach from here. It's only about one hundred yards from the center. The snorkeling off this beach is really good. Akumal is always casual.

Things to Do: Shopping is very good in Tulum, which is only 15 minutes south, and in Playa del Carmen which is only 22 minutes north. Sightseeing is endless. You can take day trips to Tulum or Coba, or you can stay overnight at Chitze Itza or Merida. We recommend them all. There is an endless list of possible activities for you to enjoy in and around Akumal and all through the Mayan Riviera. There are PGA golf courses and world class diving spots. The fresh water cenotes are just beautiful and very refreshing. I have snorkeled many with our children. I prefer to have a guide direct us when we go the cenotes.

My Favorite Thing to Do: I love to walk the beach from in front of our apartment and then to the right. It is not completely sandy. It is covered with thousands of pieces of washed-up coral and small shells. I collect the most striking pieces of coral that I find. I have so many now, I can be very choosy. I will sit for hours there and just commune with the sea and nature. I am usually totally alone and for me, there is no other place where I feel so at one with the world.

There is no actual address for our building. If you find one on VRBO, it is incorrect. Only a lot number is associated with our building and that does not work on GPS.
When you come to the AKUMAL sign coming from Cancun, You will want to go to AKUMAL BEACH. Akumal Beach is on the left side of the highway as you are traveling south. The small town of Akumal is on the right side of the highway so you will need to turn in and cross over the bridge into Akumal Beach.
Enter Akumal Beach. Drive through the arch and veer left. Continue through the security gate. You will come to a dog leg curve to the left just continue on. In about 100 yards or so you will come to Mi Casa Del Mar on your right. Drive under the porte-corche I have a photo of our building on my property page. A gentleman should come to help with your bags. If not immediately, just ring the bell or buzzer to call him. A gratuity would be appreciated.

Water is provided. Just let the building manager know if you need a new bottle.

Now a Covid test is required to leave the country. My manager, Roger, can help you arrange for the test. There will be a charge.

I will send you the lockbox code in an email. When you leave, please replace the key in the box. We also have a screen door! When you open the front door and the doors to the veranda you will get a wonderful breeze. Please contact me if you have any questions.

Perfect home away from home

We stayed for almost a month at this beautiful condo. Loved the view and the pool was a great spot to hang out and read or just stare at the ocean. Condo was very comfortable and bigger than it looked in the pictures. We loved spending the evenings on the deck looking at the stars and listening to the waves. The location of this condo is perfect for walking into town, to the beach or out for supper. We will be back.

extremely peaceful environment

We enjoyed our time at Mi Casa Del Mar. Found local restaurants well within walking distance. food at several were great including breakfast at Morning Star and Turtle Bay Cafe and dinner at La Buena Vida and great Grouper at Turtle Bay Cafe. Walked to the Highway and caught a Collectivo to Xei-Ha. It is an awesome park, all-inclusive with many water activities food and drink included. Went to several Cenotes most notable was Dos Ojos. Lagoon swimming at Yal-ku was awesome as well. Highly recommend this property who would appreciate staying away from the all-inclusive resorts. Akumal is a great community!

We really enjoyed our stay in the condo, it was a great location with lots to do within walking distance. The pool was excellent. The condo itself was exactly as pictured. Only thing I would mention to others is that there are pretty much zero condiments upon arrival, wasn't a big deal just added them to our grocery list. There also wasn't any beach chairs, we purchased some and left them in the condo though. All in all, it was an excellent rental and we would 100% rent it again.

Great place for a family

We enjoyed our stay at this condo. Star gazing in the loungers on the balcony in the evenings with the sound of the ocean was amazing. It is well situated. We could easily walk to nearby restaurants with kids in either direction. Also, there is a path over the rocks to access the main beach without having to pay. Sadly, there is a lot of washed up garbage on the rocks. The golf cart parking spot has a charge plug, which was handy for our longer excursions and to grab cocos frios from the little man on the way to the Yakul lagoon. The sea breeze was sufficient to keep the living area cool. Just as well, as two of the ceiling fans were not working. Maria the cleaner was lovely. Hiding in the cupboards were snorkel gear and floaties for the pool. The pool was fantastic, the kids loved it. Good temp and always clean. We snorkeled right out front of the condo.

Great stay - convenient location - really nice property.

We had a great stay at this property. Small hiccups with the water heater the first few days but the property manager was right on top of it. The condition of the grounds and building are stellar, and the pool area was even better than I expected. This was the first time staying on HMB outside the beach area and it wasn't a big deal. The beds were comfortable and honestly, the value for this 2 bed/2 bath condo cannot be beat in the area. It's semi-dated on the interior, but this is Mexico and the price of this condo is right where it should be. Thank you so much.

Everything was perfect for us! We loved the privacy of the condo. we did not mind not having a sand beach in front of us, it meant more privacy and the pool was great! The breeze off the ocean was enough to keep the condo cool. The view is fantastic. Staff was friendly! We did not see many other occupants of the building. The location to restaurant and akumal beach was a short walk. We loved everything!

Beautiful home and town

Amazing views , great location and easy to get around. This property didn't disappoint. Jane was easy to communicate with and helpful with whatever was needed. The town was easy to get around and there were plenty of restaurants and activities to choose from. The locals were warm and inviting. Easy access to covid testing as well.

Spacious Condo...Beautiful, Relaxing View!!!

Spacious condo with all amenities and an absolutely beautiful, relaxing view! My husband and I have been to Akumal before, but we really enjoyed this accommodation in particular. The mornings are so beautiful to wake up to! I am born and raised in Hawaii, grew up on beaches, but this was still amazing to me. The blue hues in the Caribbean ocean are a different hue from Hawaii. You do not have a so-called beach right at your feet, but there is access to the water for snorkeling or a swim. You do have to swim quite a ways out for actual reef, but when you do, it is beautiful. And if you don't want to get "salty", the pool is just as amazing! We spent more time in the pool than in the ocean. 😜 We didn't lack anything in this condo. The kitchen was stocked with everything you need to cook your own meals, minus cooking oil & seasonings of course. Beach towels are provided for the pool. One thing to note, AC is only in bedrooms, so it can get really warm in the other living areas, even with the ceiling fans running. It's a short walk to town to all the restaurants, shopping, and the beach. We rented a car again this time here, through Hertz at Cancun airport, what a horrible experience, will never rent again! Do not pay to go to the beach. Enter Hotel Carribe Enough restaurants to choose from. North of this condo, you can go to Buena Vista or La Lunita. We preferred the food at La Lunita, but it is a small establishment, so you have to go early to dinner or make reservations if you have a large group. We also dined in town at Taverna Akumal and Turtle Bay Cafe & Bakery, both good. The baked goods at Turtle Bay are to die for!

Beautiful and comfortable condo

The condo was perfect for my family’s 2 week vacation in Mexico! It’s centrally located near restaurants, shops, and Akumal beach. The air conditioners worked great in both bedrooms and the beds were comfy. We especially enjoyed the pool, which was nicer than expected! Take note that there is no access to a washer/dryer. It’s clearly stated in the description in the listing, but was listed as an amenity (we didn’t notice this until later). We just dropped off our laundry in town to have it washed, no biggie. The kitchen was large and well-equipped. It would’ve been nice to have more mixing bowls and a bottle opener, but everything else that we could possibly want was provided. We loved the ocean view and comfy couches! It rained for an entire day so we were stuck inside lounging around and watching Netflix. Jane was quick to respond to messages and was very helpful. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful condo with us! I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a home away from home in Akumal!

Wonderful Experience

The view was breathtaking. The beds were surprisingly comfortable. The pool was really clean and refreshing. The place is much more spacious than it seems in the pictures. Any time we had a problem, Jane and the whole team were quick to help. We were a bit of a pain but Jane was very patient and understanding. Thank you for an overall wonderful experience.

This was our 2nd time in this unit. Pulling up at this unit and looking across the pool at the ocean is a memory that will live with me forever. Unit is large, clean and bedrooms have great a/c. Breakfast on the large patio watching the sunrise is amazing. The daily maid does a great job. The pool is clean and large. Can’t wait to go back.

Mi Casa Del Mar. Mucho Bueno!

The condo had a great lay out with Beautiful ocean front views. it is a smaller complex and very quiet. Often times we were the only ones poolside during the day. It located half way between Turtle Bay and Half Moon Bay which are very easy walks. Jane and her team were great and took care of us. The local property manager referred us to a location in town for Covid tests to fly back home. Even offered to take us to Tulum if we were not able to get tested locally We would go back again in a minute.

Incredible location! Beautiful condo!

If you are looking for a quiet, spacious, safe, and beautiful condo in the best location in Akumal, look no further. Our family was blessed to spend Christmas and New Years in Akumal and we had an amazing time. We absolutely love Akumal. The condo is just steps away from the main beach and dining, but far enough away so you feel tranquil. My kids had a blast playing in the pool and gazing at the iguanas. My husband and I loved waking up every morning to the gorgeous sunset on the balcony. Graciela, who cleaned the place, was so sweet and did an amazing job. We felt safe re:COVID in Akumal. Come and enjoy! We can’t wait to return. **no washer/dryer for use at the condo **there is a toaster oven, but didn’t heat up well. I would plan on using just stovetop to cook. **mattresses super comfy!!

Location, location, location!

We love Akumal and the location of this condo is central to Half Moon Bay and Akumal Beach. The condo offers the most comfortable beds we've had in any Mexico stay. Thanks to the swift response of the owner who purchased a new mattress and pads per our request! The view is just as you see on the listing. So beautiful. The condo is spacious and offers overflow sleeping on two couches, as well as two master suites. Some of the furniture is a bit worn but has otherwise been tastefully furnished. Our trip was cut short due to the Coronavirus. The owner was most gracious to refund the remaining part of our trip.

This condo was a showstopper. The view is incredible and the pictures don’t do it justice. The balcony is great for star gazing at night. The pool is amazing as well. The main square area and beach are a short walk away (we walked with a 3 year old every morning). Everyone at the property was kind and responded to requests quickly. I’d come back here every year if I could.

My Family I feel so Blessed to stay in your Beautiful Sea side Paradise for a second year for the Christmas Holidays! Years ago, we visited Akumal and stayed in a friend's home there. Were turned within one month after our first visit and looked at property. We purchased our condo in three days. Akumal has a special attraction that few places on earth can match. We have traveled the world, and we always love coming back to Akumal
