Nice stay

We had a nice stay here! The beds were comfortable with many extra blankets provided. All the basic necessities were there. The hot tub was enjoyable. There is no dishwasher-easily handled but just FYI. Would overall recommend this place if you want a simple country get-away!

Immaculate, pleasant, well stocked

The property was exactly as described and very comfortable. Great communication. Hot Tub was IMMACULATE (not always common in rentals) as was the property. Straightforward instructions, no surprises. The location and surrounding area are not posh, but that was not a concern. We felt safe, and were far enough from neighbors for it to feel private/secluded.

Peace and quiet

Stayed here for a girls trip for 3 days. Overall, a great place to stay. The pictures listed make the inside of the house look bigger than what it really is. However, it was just fine for us, even with 6 people. The property is beautiful and surrounded by wooded areas. It was very quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed sitting on the back porch and also enjoyed the hot tub. This property is about 20 minutes from South Haven. The drive there isn't bad at all. The only complaint I have was that we found some dirty dishes in the cabinet. Guests are required to wash their own dishes as there is no dishwasher, so you are at the mercy of those who stayed before you. Nothing against the management, they were great! I would most definitely stay here again.

Family trip

We rented this location for extra space for our 4 generation family trip and it worked out perfectly. The space was small but we didn’t need much, still had kitchen laundry hot tub just like the listing said. We had lake access and a canoe that worked out perfect. 15 minutes from South Haven and a perfect getaway

Serene Forest Getaway

This was a clean and cozy living space and the location was quite serene. Our hosts had great attention to detail and were very quick to reply with any questions we had. The hot tub really sealed the deal for us and we were lucky enough to have one snowy morning to enjoy it to its fullest extent. We spent time in South Haven, Saugatuck, and took a trip to the Gilmore Car Museum. This was a nice central location for us to unwind at the end of the day. Great place, would highly recommend to friends and family!

Our little getaway...

This home was PERFECT for our little getaway from IL. We enjoyed the location... very little traffic and such a private experience. The house smelled fresh.. the whole place was tidy and welcoming. Of course most of our time was spent in the hot tub. We looked up estate sales and enjoyed having nowhere to be. This home made us feel at home. Washer and dryer to use, towels and dishes and all of the utensils for cooking. A very comfy couch to watch TV. We found a REDBOX for a couple movies. There's a dollar general a few miles away. The Villiage Inn was the BEST meal we had. Country Life Natural Foods was across the street down a very long road for fresh honey and maple syrup and natural and organic foods. Such a wonderful experience for our first VRBO trip. We will be back when the blueberries are in season! The only thing we can complain about is the bed is loud just turning over the headboard hits the wall and needs to be anchored to the wall maybe. Thank you for sharing your home with us and for amazing customer service!!

The PERFECT Little Romantic Get-A Way location

My wife and I rented the Woodland Pines Cottage for a weekend getaway and just LOVED the property. The cottage was clean and well supplied, THANK YOU NICOLE. The hot tub on the back covered porch was just amazing and our favorite spot. It overlooks the woods and is very private. Our host, Elizabeth, sent us some awesome restaurant recommendations and everyone was spot one. Breakfast at Craine's in nearby Fennville was pure home cooking, The Butler in Saugatuck was fantastic and Kitchen927 in South Haven gave us an incredible lunch. The other thing so very nice about this cottage is its location, you are right in the middle of South Haven and Saugatuck so there is plenty to do and see. We will definitely be coming back for a longer stay and for another weekend getaway!!

Clean and stocked

We had a great stay. Plenty of clean, cozy bedrooms. It’s a bit smaller than it looks in the photos but it was clean and stocked with everything we needed from toilet paper to towels, spices to laundry detergent. The hottub was great for our winter weekend getaway. Would love to visit in the summer to use the fire pit and check out the lake!

Very nice

Very nice rental for a few people. It was just two of us, and it was great for us. It was great relaxing in the hot tub. The location in the woods is wonderful but the closest town is very small and doesn't have much to offer. It's a good location to visit towns in the area, like Saugatuck and South Haven. Check-in and check-out were very easy. Overall, a great experience.

About the host

Hosted by Elizabeth Kosten

Host profile image
I was raised in southwest Michigan, in the Grand Rapids area, and I have always reveled in the natural beauty to be found here in our Great Lakes State. I just love being near the water, so any chance I get to be near a lake is a perfect opportunity for me to relax and unwind. I hope you get to know our beautiful state when you stay with us, because to know it is to love it!

Why they chose this property

The owner was immediately drawn by the natural beauty of Upper Scott Lake and its environs — not to mention the extensive outdoor activities and peaceful surroundings. Since then, they have made it a priority to spend as many summer weekends in the area as they can.

What makes this property unique

This home is designed for small groups and families who want to escape the mad rush of daily life and spend time growing closer to one another, all while experiencing the tranquility and enjoyment that "life in the country" has to offer. We have worked to provide a balance of comfort, functionality, charm, unity, and fun throughout our home and grounds. We even designed our outdoor spaces to provide maximum opportunities for gathering together to enjoy good meals and good conversation. We sincerely hope that the inspiring forest views from the patio will soothe and comfort you as much as they do us. We love creating welcoming spaces that draw you in with their cozy and charmingly-decorated rooms designed with great care, and our greatest desire is to see you return year after year so you can continually create new memories with those you love.
