“This historic Victorian was once home to Admiral William Sowden Sims (past President of the Naval War College in Newport Rhode Island) which inspired the name of our accommodations, but now features King bed Studios with Kitchenette and fireplace including private baths, Cable TV, Air-Conditioning, Free Wi-Fi, and Free off-street parking.

It’s perfect for government / military per diem travel or for teleworkers who need a change of scenery.

The garden is private....yet just minutes away, you’re in the center of Newport’s many activities, historical attractions, fine restaurants, ocean beach, and unique shops. At the end of each day, you’ll return to sleep in quiet, historic settings.

Locations was great, room was very clean with working gas fireplace, quiet beautiful neighborhood, parking was free and onsite, lovely home baked continental breakfast and 2 blocks from the beach.

Spent two nights for my birthday. Could not ask for more. Beautiful aesthetic, immaculate and comfortable. Loved our time and definitely plan on visiting this gem again in the Spring.

Very cozy place to stay

This is a great place to stay in Newport. The house is amazing and the staff is very friendly. A breakfast bar is included and the room had a small kitchenette. We will definitely stay here again if we're in the area.

Great place to stay!

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The property is beautiful with lots of charm and character. The property managers weee very accommodating offering lots of amenities and personal touches that you wouldn’t get at a hotel. The location was perfectly tucked away from the busy streets but also an easy walk or drive to anything you want to see or do. The room was cozy and very clean upon arrival. Highly recommend staying here.

Cozy in the Fall

Our stay was in November and we traveled from Florida to enjoy some cooler weather and enjoy the history of the Northeast. Check in was easy and communication was excellent. The room was equipped with everything we needed. It was very clean and in a beautiful safe neighborhood.

Lovely inn in a great location

This is an amazing place to stay! It is a beautiful, spotless inn with fantastic hospitality! Check-in is easy; hosts are friendly and helpful; they even provide a continental type breakfast in the morning and some snacks are available during the day. Location is in a quiet area within walking distance of the Cliff Walk.

We are the family from Admiral Sims' House on Catherine St and on Mill St which offers Studio and Apartment Rentals. We've been B&B owners since 2000 and just love Newport and these old Victorian houses. Catherine St is a great location and we just finished renovating the rooms to create fresh, clean King studio's with Kitchenette and Fireplace for Newport visitors - long and short term.
