Villa Fedra - A Hidden Paradise

A charming two bedroom villa located on the Sunny city of Calheta.
The villa has a beautiful garden and due to its location provides a lot of privacy, peace and quiet.
The villa is fully licensed for touristic activities.
The villa has two bedroom with twin beds, comfortable mattresses and loads of storage space.
The kitchen is fully equipped.
The big WOW of this property is, without doubt, the outdoor space.
The garden is spacious, there are some fruit trees, some local plants, and a swing that will delight our younger guests.
If you rather just relax and get a tan, you can enjoy our sun beds, while admiring the ocean and listening to the birds.
The BBQ facilities and the outdoor dining area are also one of the highlights.
It is located 2 minutes walk from the main road which makes the location perfect for people looking for privacy, peace, quietness and a truly nature experience as the villa is surrounded by farming plots and banana trees.
Guests will be welcomed and everything will be explained at their arrival.
During the stay if you need any assistance we will always be available to come and see you.
The neighborhood is a typical Madeiran environment and experience.
The villa is not car accessible… you will park the car and then walk about 2/3 minutes to the villa, this gives a unique privacy and quietness. You will be made to feel like a true local.
There are buses but I highly recommend renting a car.

Verstecktes Paradies

Schnelle Kommunikation und prompte Antworten auf alle Fragen, sehr freundlicher Empfang mit Wein, Kuchen und Obst. Supermarkt in Calheta an 7 Tagen bis 22 Uhr geöffnet. Das Haus ist zu Fuß über einen kurzen, aber zum Teil recht steilen Weg erreichbar. Wunderschöner blühender Garten, Liegestühle und reichlich andere Sitzmöglichkeiten im schönen Garten. BBQ- Grill . Beide Schlafzimmer mit Blick auf den Atlantik. Sehr liebevoll und persönlich eingerichtetes historisches Haus. Wenn man wie wir im Februar da ist, muss man sich auf kalte Nächte einstellen. Vielleicht den Vermieter Saul um eine mobile Heizung bitten. Für Urlauber, die eine persönliche, absolut stille Unterkunft bevorzugen, genau das Richtige.

Eine super Unterkunft mit viel Charme zu einem fairen Preis

Die Unterkunft ist sehr schön gelegen, hat einen tollen Garten mit einer herrlichen Veranda unter der man sogar bei Regen sehr gemütlich sitzen kann! Die Einrichtung ist bereits etwas in die Jahre gekommen aber es fehlt an nichts und alles funktioniert!

Ein charmantes madeirisches Haus mit wunderschönem Garten inmitten von Bananenplantagen. Absolut ruhig, kein Straßenlärm, kein Hundegebell, nur manchmal der Wind oder Regen (zumal im Februar)... Perfekte Ausgangslage für Touren auf der ganzen Insel. Ein sehr gutes Restaurant nur 200 m entfernt. Die gastfreundlichsten Vermieter ever! Wir kommen gerne wieder!

Lage, Kommunikation, Objekt, Ausstattung etc. tipptopp! Dass Ende Dezember auch auf Madeira die Nächte kühl und die Tage ein bisschen verregnet sein können, steht auf einem anderen Blatt =)

A lesson in perfect hospitality

We loved our week long stay at this delightful house that has everything you need to feel home-from-home. While the wow factor is certainly the splendid garden - which makes for a great space for two couples (or a family) to spread out in comfort - it was the attention to detail in hospitality and kindness that made a lasting impression and made us feel so welcome. Communications with Patricia were always friendly, timely, and helpful, and her uncle Saul who greeted and looked after us was most charming and generous, and he delighted us with his thoughtful generosity. We were sad to leave, and will surely be back. Thankyou for everything!

Villa Fedra is perfect for a restful holiday.

Villa Fedra is perfect for a restful holiday. It is sunny and absolutely quiet. The garden is beautiful, with many flowers and an amazing view to the ocean. We really enjoyed our 10-day stay there. Furthermore, it is a very good base to explore the island, especially the western part. A car is necessary, however. Thank you to Saul, our host. He gave us a very warm welcome and during our stay he cared for us with overwhelming hospitality. And thank you to Patricia for the problem-free booking. Viola, Germany

Villa Fedra - das Schlösschen auf dem Hawaii des Nordatlantiks

Die Villa Fedra in Arco da Calheta ist ein wahres Juwel auf der faszinierenden Vulkaninsel Madeira. Erholsame Ruhe im stillen Südküstenort, welcher dennoch sehr gut zu erreichen ist und sehr fürsorgliche Vermieter machten den zehntägigen Kurzurlaub zu etwas ganz Besonderem.

Alles in en om het huis ademt Madeira...

Eens in de zoveel jaar vindt je een woning, authentiek, smaakvol, goed toegerust met de 'noodzakelijke' luxe, die geheel opgaat in de omgeving van de plaatselijke bevolking. Geen weg erlangs, maar slechts te bereiken via smalle steile paadjes met links en rechts bananenbomen en waterkanaaltjes. Geen toeristenburen, maar lokale buren, van wie de ouderen alleen Portugees spreken. Een zeer ruime tuin met fantastisch uitzicht over het dorp beneden en de oceaan en het dorp boven en de bergen. Luieren in de zon met vaak de dreiging van de donkere, regenachtige wolken in de bergen, die daar ook blijven. De hagedissen die overdag op het dak en in stenen muurtjes kruipen en bij Madeira horen als de huismus bij Nederland. Wees gerust, ze komen nooit dichtbij en je hebt er totaal geen last van. Alles in en om het huis ademt Madeira. Tussen de bananenbomen proef je een vleugje Afrika. Last but not least; De bijzonder vriendelijke en behulpzame eigenaresse van de woning, die samen met haar even behulpzame en sympathieke oom Saul, dit verblijf tot een fantastische ervaring maakt.

Beautiful villa with awesome host

We had a great stay in Villa Fedra. By arriving we got a warm welcome from Saul, the host. He and his friend -sorry, we lost his name :( - carried our baggage some meters upwards to the house. We were very surprised and happy about the welcome-gifts we got from Saul: red wine, Madeira wine, cake and a large bowl of fruits. There is a beautiful sea-view from the upper floor, a lovely garden around the house and a large shady patio which was our livingroom during our stay so we never need to use the livingroom inside the house. The villa is fully equipped. We had more than enough towels, cutlery and tableware. The house was very tidy. During our stay SAUL visited us and spoiled us with "natural gifts" like wine, bread, and cake. Furthermore he changed the bed sheets weekly. So we can completely recommend this place. Thank you Patricia for the problem-less booking and the traveltips (you reallly need a car!!) and a great thanks to SAUL, the friendliest host we ever had! Super schönes Haus u sehr gastfreundlicher Vermieter

Wir haben das Haus u Garten sehr genossen. Unsere Kinder 1 1/2 u 3 1/2 Jahre konnten super im Garten spielen. Der Vermieter hat uns regelmäßig mit kleinen Aufmerksamkeiten, wie selbstgemachtes Brot, Marmelade, Wein etc. überrascht. Selten so gastfreundliche Vermieter erlebt.

Villa Fedra is awesome!

Villa Fedra is located in Arco da Calheta, practically near to everything. There are some 100 meters (and 11 meters upwards) to go by foot to reach the villa from the street (where you can park your car) but it is worth it! The location is calm and kind of isolated so that the neighbours won't disturb you at any point. You really need the car. It makes everything so much easier! Driving or finding a parking place are absolutely no problem. You can easily make one day trips to any location on the island from this position. I. e. it´s 40 minutes to downtown funchal and about 80 minutes to the westernmost point on the Island. The sea-view from the garden is relaxing. The yard is like a hidden paradise with a lot of green. During the day there is also shadow to lie in if you are not made for full sunshine. The patio was our kitchen and livingroom during the whole 14 days of our holiday. In the evening there were surprisingly basically no mosquitos. We cooked for ourselves the most days. The kitchen is fully equipped for smaller or even larger feasts. Cutlery and tableware will not run out :) The two bedrooms and two toilets with showers were more than enough for two couples. The house has a good size and the areas in the garden and patio compliment the rest. The south coast of Madeira has the most beaches in the whole island. A bunch of them are just a few kilometers away from the villa. The pebble / stony beaches require swimming shoes and are not suitable for small children but in Calcheta there is also an artificial sandbeach and more "easy access"/protected areas for the smaller guests. We enjoyed that "not so touristical atmosphere" of the island (compared to the canaries) and we will come back one day to try it again. We had a really hard draw back in the middle of our holiday but all the support from Patricia and Saul (the landlords) and from the other Madeiran people we got to meet made us feel welcome and secure. Thank you for everything! We'll see you again ;)

Gemütliches Haus mit herzlichem Vermieter

Wir genossen die freie Sicht und die vielen Sitzmöglichkeiten im Schatten oder im Garten. Immer das richtige Plätzchen, auch zum gemeinsamen Kartenspielen, Lesen oder Malen. Die Zimmer sind angenehm eingerichtet, es fehlt aber an Einlegebrettern oder Ablagemöglichkeiten für längere Aufenthalte. Die 2 Bäder mit WC sind sauber und funktional. Der Weg durch die Plantage stimmte auf die ruhige Lage ein und führte an freundlichen älteren Einheimischen vorbei. Der aufgeschüttete Badestrand von Calheta ist unter 10 min mit dem Auto zu erreichen und bestens für Kinder geeignet. Öfter wurden wir vom Vermieter mit kleinen Aufmerksamkeiten bedacht ( Wein, selbstgebackener Kuchen oder Brot) Wir fühlten uns wohl und hatten 4 Wochen lang Entspannung.
