About this property

Mid-Century Modern A-frame cabin by the lake

Welcome to the Triangle Lodge! A mid-century modern A-frame cabin tucked into the beautiful and peaceful lakeside community of Serene Lakes. Minutes away from several ski resorts, including Sugar Bowl, Boreal, Soda Springs & Royal Gorge.

Our cabin is walkable to the Serene Lakes and is surrounded by a large network of beautiful trails. During the warmer months go hiking, mountain biking, paddleboarding, kayaking, and off-roading. Triangle Lodge is the perfect place to relax after a day of exploring this amazing area. This cozy cabin is perfect for families and couples (even your furry friends!)

The space
On the ground floor you will find the main living space: living room, dining room and kitchen. There is also one bedroom, one half bath, a mud room and a deck.

Upstairs you will find one bedroom, one loft bedroom that is open to the lower level, and one full bathroom.

______

In the living room there is a sofa that folds down to a twin-sized bed, two comfy leather chairs and a fireplace. The smart TV offers shows and movies to watch, is set up with Prime, Netflix and Disney+. We offer a variety of board games, puzzles, books and toys for children and adults.

In the dining area, there is room for 6. There is a bluetooth speaker that pairs easily with your smartphone to bring your own vibe to the place.

The kitchen is as we call it "small but mighty" ...well equipped with all our favorite tools and appliances. You will find a microwave, blender with food processor attachment, toaster, hand mixer, waffle iron, pots and pans, baking dishes, muffin tins, etc. We love coffee and offer a variety of different coffee makers to brew that perfect cup. (drip, pour-over, french press, espresso, Nespresso, milk frother & bean grinder). We keep the kitchen stocked with basic items such as dish soap, paper towels, spices, cooking oils, coffee filters, etc.

The mudroom offers storage space, along with a washer and dryer (we provide laundry soap & dryer sheets).

In the bedroom on the ground floor, there is a queen-sized bed with soft luxurious linens.

In the bedroom on the second floor, you will find a california king-sized bed with a very comfy memory foam topped mattress, with soft luxurious linens. There is a small closet and a dresser for storage.

The upstairs loft space has one twin-sized bed. This room gets glorious light, a beautiful view and if the fireplace is lit… is toasty warm, making it one of our favorite spots in the house.

There is a 1/2 bathroom on the main level and a full bathroom with a shower/bath combo upstairs. We offer plush towels, and a hairdryer. We provide tp, tissues, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion and hand soap. There are also essentials stored in the bathrooms (first aid kit, mosquito repellent, sunscreen, lotion, etc.)

Heating: The main source of heat is a fireplace, and we stock the cabin with plenty of firewood. The home also has electric baseboard and wall heaters spread throughout the cabin. During the winter, we tend to use a combination of both types of heating: one or two electric heaters on the lowest setting to maintain the base heat level, and a fire in the fireplace because we love the warmth and ambiance it creates. The fireplace can heat the entire cabin by itself. The cabin is well insulated, and with a fire going we will often find that the cabin can get so warm we need to crack a window or two upstairs!

We have a young son who loves spending time in our cabin, so there are toys and activities that are appropriate for young children available.

There are quite a few grown-up toys to use as well...

- 2 Stand Up Paddleboards with paddles
- 2 10 foot kayaks with paddles
- 1 pedal boat
- 3 life vests (2 adult sized, 1 child sized)
- bike helmets (1 adult, 1 child sized)
- Bocce Ball set

- 3 pairs of cross country skis (with 2 pairs of boots)
- 2 snowboards
- variety of snow sleds
- 1 hockey stick

This is our vacation cabin, so we will not be nearby while you are visiting but we are available to answer any questions or help if you need it. We keep our personal belongings put away in an owners closet, so you are welcome to use all the amenities you find in the cabin.

We are in the mountains, so cell service can be spotty around here. We have a signal booster installed which helps with the cellular service. We provide wifi with a strong signal and fast speed. The internet service tends to be quite reliable, however, a large storm could potentially alter the service quality.

If you are traveling during the winter please keep an eye on road conditions. We are at an elevation of 6,800 feet and sometimes get heavy snow which can impact the highway and local roads.

Cozy cabin for winter fun

Perfect location to be near cross country skiing and Sugar bowl. Also great with kids as lots of nearby sledding. Well stocked cabin, especially appreciated the sleds and snowshoes given all the fresh powder. Appreciated all the communication and ease of checkin/checkout. Very accommodating.

Beautiful Setting

My husband, two kids (7 & 9) and two dogs had a wonderful summer stay. The cabin was clean and exceptionally well appointed. We also loved the decor. It was modern, clean, and minimal and allowed us to enjoy the natural beauty all around us. It really felt like we were in a home. There are certainly things that are old (stove, chairs, etc.), which added to the charm and ability for us to feel at home, but if you want all the newest and fanciest, then this might not be the cabin for you. The mosquitos were really bad with all the snowmelt, so we didn’t spend as much time as we wanted on the back deck, but we truly enjoyed the time we did spend on it. There was no gate, but we were able to block off the stairs so the dogs could enjoy the deck without running into the road to greet all the passers by. We did not have cell service at the cabin, but we did at the Serene Lakes beach and just up the road, and the Internet at the house allowed our phones to still work. There were so many hiking/biking trails close by, and if you are a cross-country skier, you can hop on the Royal Gorge trails a block away. Next time we go, we’ll plan to bring our bikes. The roads are quiet, and the kids would love to ride around the area.

Summer at Serene Lakes

Our family had a great week at Serene Lakes in the summer. Booking our reservation was really easy and Laura is very responsive with any questions and followed up to check in during our stay. The home is nicely appointed with comfortable beds / linens / and towels and lots of thoughtful items like soap/shampoo/ laundry detergeant etc to make sure your time at the lake is an enjoyable one. Lots of extras included, our family used the paddleboards with the conveinient location to the lake and access just down the street. This home was easy for our family to enjoy and fit all our needs.

Lovely home in a gorgeous location

We had a truly wonderful stay at this Serene Lakes A-Frame. The hosts were responsive, helpful, and truly kind. The home is comfortable and just the right amount of quirk and character. The Serene Lakes area is gorgeous, quiet, and so peaceful. The hiking right out the door of the A-Frame was incredible. We will definitely be back!

One of the best stays

My husband and I spent a weekend with our black lab in this beautiful place. We have stayed in many other properties around the globe and this one has been one of the best. The owner was very responsive. Everything in the house is very well done. I love to cook and the kitchen was very well supplied. Even though it is small I didn't mind at all. I had everything I needed to cook every meal I planned. It was cozy, warm and the king size bed upstairs is super comfy. The house is clean, enough towels and supplies for 5 people. WIFI worked well. The neighborhood is wonderful, very close to the lake. I would come again in a heartbeat! Oh! and Laura the owner was sensational!

About the host

I'm an artist, living in the Bay Area with my husband and our young son in our beloved Mid-Century Modern Eichler home - a “glass house” which invites the outside in and provides endless inspiration. We love to travel, and love that we can take our work with us anywhere in the world, allowing us to stay for extended periods all around the globe. We enjoy an active lifestyle, and love the variety of options available in the Bay Area and beyond.

Why they chose this property

We searched for years to find this property. We had been searching all over the Tahoe area for our dream A-frame cabin, never landing on the right place. When this cabin became available for sale, we knew immediately it was the one we had been waiting for. We were smitten with the neighborhoord surrounding Serene Lakes since the first day we drove through it years ago, it's a very special place. The proximity to the lake and the mountain trails and all of the adventure at our fingertips delights us.
