About this property

Scenic Southwest Style Mountain Retreat, Close to Santa Fe & Taos

Your family reunion, retreat group, youth function, or art tour attendees will be comfortable in the spacious 10 bedroom suites at the Truchas Peaks Place lodge, a 12,000 square foot facility. There are many spaces for group interaction as well as private space for quiet reflection after a day of skiing. Located on the High Road, State Road 76, midway between Santa Fe and Taos, Truchas Peaks Place is strategically situated for access to additional area attractions, whether that is gallery shopping, taking in the selection of fine dining, skiing, hiking, or visiting historical sites.

Truchas Peaks Place, located on the High Road to Taos, and nestled at the foot of the Truchas Peaks Mountains, is 45 minutes from either Santa Fe or Taos. Newly constructed, the spacious building melds traditional adobe architecture with the territorial pitched roof style for a southwest ambiance while indulging the visitor with modern amenities. Guests can easily travel State Road 76, a New Mexico Scenic Byway, to find Truchas Peaks Place both accessible and secluded. There are ten bedroom suites. Each suite has a queen size bed, luxury linens, writing tables. Six suites have private bathrooms, four of the suites share two bathrooms.

Providing the amenities of a fine hotel, Truchas Peaks Place is an ideal location for small retreats, conferences and workshops, or reunions and weddings. The bedroom accommodations are complemented by ample meeting rooms.

Book your accommodations at Truchas Peaks Place, then head north to Sipapu Ski Resort, a short 30 minute drive, to reach New Mexico’s family friendly ski area. Sipapu, with affordable lift ticket prices, usually opens before any other resort in New Mexico and has the longest ski season in the state.

Common spaces include a fully equipped gourmet kitchen, dining room, 3 sitting rooms and a large library all available for guests to share. A floor plan is available on our website. The entire structure has 12,000 square feet of space. Common areas and second floor suites have gas fireplaces.

Individual suites may be rented depending on availability.

Outside, are decks and portals for panoramic views of the Truchas Peaks, the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range, the Jemez Mountains and the Pedernal, made famous in the paintings of Georgia O’Keeffe.

Awake with the sun streaming in your windows; sit on decks or portals and breathe in fresh mountain air while your eyes are treated to magnificent views of the Truchas Peaks. Create your own private reprieve from traffic, congestion, crowds. Find your connection to the natural world through the serenade of birds by morning or the croak of frogs by evening. Be open to the surprise of a sudden rain shower or snow fall that unexpectedly makes way for pure clear blue skies to break through.

Just around the corner, you find the village of Truchas, settled in 1754 and still maintaining the link to its Hispanic heritage. Spanish is often spoken and the buildings are still constructed of adobe. There is a flourishing art community with numerous art galleries exhibiting contemporary art as well as regional arts, weaving and woodcraft.

Truchas Peaks Place provides a leisurely atmosphere, where you can use the space to structure your own getaway, making day trips to the attractions of Northern New Mexico or finding comfort in relaxing within a restful, rural setting.

Beautiful serene location with Mountain View’s …

The house was like a spanish villa … it was clean and had everything…we had 35 family members all together . The beds were comfortable and lovely sheets so soft.. gas fire stoves in most all of the rooms . A library that was so amazzing and huuuge . Words cannot describe the magnitude of the library , there were 2 .. so many bedrooms and bathrooms. There was snow but the extra large house was soo warm…we brought all our food and the kitchen had everything you could ever possibly need … we all enjoyed our stay .. and the snow cap mountain peaks ! The furniture was leather and inviting in the huge upstairs living room . Very pleasant stay … The Mrs..:)

Team Retreat Success!

We had an amazing time at this property. There were 35 of us that stayed here, comfortably, I might add! Our team is closer than most corporate set-ups so the main house was perfect for our needs. The kitchen was FANTASTIC and we loved, loved, LOVED the library for our all staff meetings. The property managers are a little more hands on/present than we've been used to in the past, but they did their best to stay unobtrusive, which was appreciated. I cannot recommend this place enough! We sincerely cannot wait to come back here!

Family Christmas Gathering

Every other year our 26 membered family gather for Christmas. We were thrilled when we found a place that could accommodate everyone comfortably. Truchas Peak Place did not disappoint. The bedrooms were large and spacious. The beds were comfortable. The house was clean, warm and cozy, and heat could be adjusted. The large library was beautiful and the space perfect. Despite being a large group everyone had a quiet place to retreat to. Michael, our guest liaison, was visible and helpful. We had a fantastic time! My only suggestion would be ice maker and water purifier in kitchen. Ability to recycle should be available on site. Thank you!!!

Base for sightseeing and the balloon festival

For a gathering of friends and family this was ideal. Everyone had their own bedroom and bathroom. We cooked our own meals in a well-furnished kitchen and caught up with each other in both the spacious dining room and fab library.

Our own "winter wonderland"!

Truchas easily accomodated our large family to celebrate the Christmas Holiday! Rooms for large family gatherings but also room/s to withdraw to your own space. Easy access for outside of the property activities, Yet peaceful and secluded enough for our own private retreat! Management very helpful with local information and direction. Spacious, relaxing, very clean, beautiful views and beautiful property. Highly recommended!!

Excellent place for a group of about 15

This facility is gorgeous and the views, especially at sunset and sunrise, can't be beat anywhere. The office staff are always helpful, the room s are beautiful and well designed, the beds comfortable and bedding changed weekly. The photos on the website represent it well. The library is so large that books are filed by Dewey Decimal and should not be returned by readers, like in a good institutional library. Kitchen is very well equipped with two modern refrigerators and an AGA stover with 4 different ovens and 4-5 stovetop burners. Washers and driers are provided. Of course, you need to bring your own food, so shop in Santa Fe before you arrive!

2009 Winter Stay

This place was awesome to stay at. 3 families went in together and we all had a place to lay our head. It was very clean. The staff was extremely kind and informative. We cooked our own meals and their kitchen had everything we needed. The kids walked right out and played in the snow... the snow was beautiful! Skiing at Sipapu was a fantastic experience because the slopes were easy for the kids to learn on. The sledding in Sipapu was tons of fun too. Big cities were not too far away for when we needed something from Super Wal-Mart. I would highly recommend it!

About the host

I am a Jungian Psychotherapist living in San Francisco. I frequently return to the beautiful village of Truchas in order to re-connect with the serenity of nature & tend to my responsibilities as owner of Truchas Peaks Place. The Truchas Peaks Place office is staffed year-round by our on-site staff.

Why they chose this property

Come and find out for yourself -- Truchas is an inspiring, quiet, natural village that runs at an agricultural pace & is very much in tune with the beautiful landscapes of the Southwest. The property contains 3-acres of serene space & the building itself was built to my specifications in order to be the premier retreat center of Northern New Mexico.

What makes this property unique

Our retreat center is absolutely one-of-a-kind in this old mountain village. Panoramic mountain views from our wraparound decks, inspiring literature in our upstairs library, and the peacefulness of our rural community are just some of the unique benefits Truchas Peaks Place has to offer.
