The Wapiti Room - Windmill Inn

Windmill Inn is nestled in the breathtaking Wapiti Valley, renowned for its stunning rock formations and natural beauty. Teddy Roosevelt once called this stretch of highway “the most scenic 52 miles in America.” Conveniently located just 30 miles from Yellowstone National Park and 20 miles from Cody, Wyoming, our inn provides the perfect base for exploring the region.

From here, you can enjoy Yellowstone’s wonders, visit the world-class Buffalo Bill Center of the West, go whitewater rafting, fishing, hiking, hunting, or take in the excitement of Cody’s nightly rodeos.

For an exclusive experience, we offer private guided tours through our company, Grub Steak Expeditions. Currently, we are accepting reservations for the Wapiti Room only as part of a package deal, which includes a private tour of Yellowstone or the surrounding area.

Short Cody Retreat

Thoroughly enjoyed our short stay at Windmill. Hosts were very welcoming and wonderful, and was perfect place to base from in the area in a beautiful setting. Awesome.

Wonderful stay at Windmill Inn in Cody/Wapiti, WY

We had a wonderful stay with our host at the Windmill Inn. Rod and Suzie have a beautiful place and were so informative and helpful. Everything was perfect and Suzie’s breakfasts were fantastic!

Wonderful vacation

Owners were great to work with and treated us like family. They are very familiar with the area and gave great advice on what to see and where to go. We hope to stay there again.

Our First Bed and Breakfast

Our stay at the Wind Mill Inn was our first at a b&b and it was outstanding! The accommodations were outstanding and the breakfast that was provided was fantastic! The overlook of the Shoshone River was spectacular! We highly recommend the Wind Mill Inn!

Great hosts. Rod's guidance for visiting Yellowstone was extremely helpful. Suzie's boxed breakfasts created a wonderful opportunity to enjoy breakfast on the banks of Yellowstone lake. The room was excellent and the night sky amazing. A great stay!

The Perfect Get Away

The Windmill is a quiet get away location with majestic mountain views, nestled in the North Fork, less than an hour away from Yellowstone's East Gate. Our hosts were outstanding, and know so much about the area, giving great options for visitors to check out . We've stayed at a number of B&B's and this one ranks in the top three!

Unbelievable place

The view was amazing, the room and cleanliness were outstanding, and the hosts were fantastic. Breakfast was delicious and the "to go" option was perfect for a day in Yellowstone. Rod and Suzie are one of a kind people, and Rod's tips on Yellowstone were spot on. Cannot recommend their place highly enough.

Best BnB Ever!

We had a wonderful time! The room was perfect, clean and was well equipped with everything we needed while there. The hosts were absolutely amazing and genuinely cared about every aspect of our stay. What a Great Experience!

We absolutely loved our stay with Rod and Susie! Their lovely B&B is in a beautiful setting so convenient to the East entrance to Yellowstone. Rod was so helpful with his knowledge of the park. Suzie prepared the most delicious breakfasts to get our days started. We highly recommend a stay here!

Fantastic stay at Windmill Inn

Rod and Suzie were amazing hosts. Rod was so knowledgeable about Yellowstone and gave us a lot of tips which were invaluable when we visited the park. And Suzie’s breakfasts were so tasty and filling! The room was clean and very roomy, and the views outside their place were spectacular. I would highly recommend staying here!

Words can’t describe!

Windmill Inn is a gem hidden within the hills! Rod and Suzie make you feel like you’ve known each other for years! Rod knows all the ins and outs of Yellowstone and Suzie’s cooking, well, let’s just say YUMMM! I will recommend The Windmill Inn to anyone and everyone!! Highly suggest!

Great Location for Your Yellowstone Visit

This property has it all from beautiful surroundings to incredible hosts! We stayed in the Wapiti room and enjoyed a nice-sized bedroom with an extra large bathroom with double sinks. The bathroom also had an expanded closet area with a mini fridge. Communication with the owners was excellent. They provided great tips for visiting the area and great to-go breakfasts if you needed to be on the go early. We would definitely stay there again!

Beautiful, Hospitable, Clean, Unbelievable View!

Rod & Suzie are the most gracious hosts! We stayed in the Wapiti Room which has a super spacious bathroom and an unbelievable view to wake up to. Rod is available every morning for tips on visiting Yellowstone, Cody, etc. The drive to Yellowstone is beautiful & you don’t have to deal with the crowds at West Yellowstone. Super quiet & peaceful with great breakfasts every morning! We stayed 5 nights and loved it!

Everything was amazing and more!

Suzy isn’t OCD but her home - which became our home - was spotless. The meals were incredible and the room, bed and the rest of the house were excellent. The best part, though, were Rod and Suzy: they were like two good friends that we just only met for the first time. If we return to Wyoming, we’ll definitely book a much longer stay at The Windmill Inn!

Hospitable B&B with majestic mountain views

You won’t find a better bed & breakfast than the Windmill Inn! We stayed there as our base for exploring the area, especially Yellowstone. It took us several days to explore Yellowstone. Rod, being a guide, was an invaluable resource. He and Suzie seemed to know every place to look for grizzlies, wolves, and nesting birds. We were able to see the most awesome wildlife! And to top it off, Suzie is a gourmet cook and treated us with delicious breakfasts! Thanks for your great hospitality, Rod and Suzie! You are a great team!

Heavenly

Rod and Suzie are wonderful to stay with. Suzie is a tremendous cook you never leave hunger. Rod is a wealth of information with area around you and what to do in Yellowstone. The house is spacious and the hot tub is a must after a long day .The view from their property is heavenly as well as the drive in. Definitely worth it! We will be back! Thanks, Kathy and Darren

Amazing from the views to the exceptional hospitality. Highly recommend!!

Rod & Suzie are simply the best. Rod gave great tips for navigating Yellowstone National Park and provided us with several devices to aid us in viewing animals & protection against bears. Suzie is an amazing cook and so thoughtful with everything she does. The property is just outstanding! It is very clean with everything you might need within reach. The atmosphere is very welcoming and safe as if you are staying with family and friends. The Wapiti room was perfect with a very comfortable bed and a huge bathroom. Thank you Rod & Suzie for sharing your gorgeous home with us and your incredible hospitality!!

Yellowstone Near

Rod and Suzie were great! Their house is so cozy and welcoming! The little touches, like small candies on the bed are amazing! Bring a jacket and sit on the deck and check out the stars! The breakfasts made by Suzie were excellent and delicious. They both know so much about Yellowstone and Cody! Ask about tours of Yellowstone before you book elsewhere!

Great Stay

Rod and Suzie are great hosts. They are so warm and friendly and made us feel at home. Breakfast was fantastic ... both in-person and the to go box! We really enjoyed our time and would recommend staying there.
