Quintessential lake cottage

My husband and I experienced a pleasant stay at a beautiful lake in a sweet well-stocked cottage a short walk from the beach. The spacious porch was the best part where we read, ate meals and visited. Ahhhhhh….NH~ Thanks Steve &Kris

Shhhhhh!!! Don't tell anyone!! Our Secret Cabin by the Lake!!

Absolutely loved our time at Steve's beautiful 2 bedroom cabin by Newfound Lake, NH. What a lovely setting and great location, convenient to state parks and covered bridges and great restaurants, etc. etc. I could go on and on but we loved our stay at this well appointed cabin with very functional kitchen, bathroom and spacious family room where we could relax and unwind. The beach on the lake by Steve's house is tremendous and we were fortunate to have selected this place. One of the nicest vacations we've had------and we have literally been all over the world! Best wishes to you, Steve and thanks for providing an awesome vacation station!

Wonderful stay at Novella

This cottage and Lake bring back so many childhood memories. The beds are comfy cozy, the lake front was relaxing. I can’t say how many times I just wanted to hear the screen door close. Kayaking on the cove was awesome. Can’t wait to come back!

Exactly as billed

We had a great, mid-fall, pandemic wkd, stay at the cottage and found everything exactly as listed. Cottage was cozy & well-equipped, yard is beautiful, access to the lake was easy. Steve was an excellent host. I've seen notes about traffic noise but we didn't really notice (windows closed at this time of year). Would very happily stay there again.

Ideal location for exploring Newfound Lake

Great property for base camp and exploring the area. Ideal for family with little ones in the summer. Limited view of lake and surrounding white mountains if that is a priority.

Absolutely Wonderful!

We arrived to find the house exactly like it is in the pictures. The place was immaculate, tastefully decorated, and perfectly landscaped. We got there on a particularly hot afternoon, and the A/C system had the entire house completely cooled down. Steve, the owner, stopped by to greet us an hour or so after we arrived. He made us feel completely welcome and made himself available in case we needed anything. This place has all the amenities that you could need for a perfect vacation by the lake. The beach was incredible - your own private beach with beautiful, crystal clear water, and unforgettable sunsets. Previous reviews mention the road-noise on the porch, which is true, but all of the homes on that side of the lake are close to the road - it comes with the territory - and is well worth it. You really don’t notice the road from the beach either. All in all it is the perfect spot for us, and we hope to be back again and again. Thank you Steve and Chris!

Our favorite vacation spot!

Wanted to post a review after having just reserved our summer week that will mark our 10th year staying at the cottage. So looking forward to coming back again. We just love our morning coffee sitting on the porch, and the long afternoons in the sun on the beach. And of course some of the best sunsets around!! Thanks Steve, for listening to my so many 'stories'.

Nice cabin, but very close to busy road

My wife and I recently spent a weekend at the cottage, having heard that Newfound Lake had beautifully clear water. We were looking for a quiet lakeside getaway to relax and do some kayaking. Steve was very responsive to my emails and was able to clarify the process of paying by check which I had never done before when using VRBO or Airbnb. We didn't need any assistance while we were at the cabin, but when Steve greeted us, he made it clear we could contact him if we needed anything and was very welcoming. The cabin has rustic charm but as other have said has been updated to have modern conveniences. The big screened in porch was a very nice touche and we spent a good amount of time out there. The landscaping is very nicely maintained and it was great having such easy access to the beach a short walk away. The downside is that the cabin is only about 50 ft from Rt. 3A which is a very busy road with lots of truck traffic. The road noise is nearly constant except for late at night and very early in the morning. Since we were trying to get away from the noise of the city, it was pretty disappointing to so much constant traffic noise. This might not bother everyone, but it did put a damper on the experience for us. The only other issue I would note is that the mattress in the larger bedroom seems overdue to be replaced. It had large dents in it from people's sleeping locations and was very soft and worn out feeling. We opted to sleep in the smaller bedroom which had a very firm mattress. Obviously, this is an easy issue to fix.

THE BEST!

This is our sixth year staying at Novella cottage. It can't be beat! My husband and I stay one week every year (wish it was longer) for our anniversary and just to have some time away together without the hassle of life. It is so relaxing. It has everything you need and has that "awesome cabiny Newfound lake feel" but at the same time having all the modern necessities. Screened in porch is one of our favorites! The owners are great and willing to help you enjoy your stay however they can. The beautiful beach is a stones throw away. Although it is off a main road, once you get into the cabin and settled, you feel like you're you are in your own little piece of paradise. Al and Liz Duchaney

Best Newfound Vacation Yet!

This is our 5th summer renting small family cottages on Newfound and we have found a gem. The charm of a 1940s lakeside cottage without all the quirks. The owners updated the cottage about ten years ago, including insulation, foundation, and lots of beautiful touches inside (track lighting, full W/D, up-to-date kitchen amenities like dishwasher, fridge, stove - all full size). The result is a cottage with the feel of the quaint cottages of yesteryear, but with the added luxuries of modern living. The large grassy yard is wonderful for the kids and the sandy beach cannot be beat. ps: What amazing sunsets!

Great vacation getaway!

My fiance and I rented the cottage for 2 weeks in July, and we were very happy with our vacation rental this year! The cottage was really nice, it had just about everything we needed from kitchen utensils (including a dishwasher that worked!), a washer dryer, A/C, and internet access when we weren't at the beach. The owner was really nice and very helpful when we had questions (or when we accidentally locked ourselves out of the cottage ^_^ ). The best part of this place was the HUGH screened in porch! It was beautiful and really great to sit out there and eat our meals or just relaxing with a book while listening to the sounds of Newfound Lake. I'd definitely recommend staying here if you are looking for a really nice place while vacationing!

Newfound Cottage is beautiful!

We had the most wonderful time at the cottage! Unsure about what we would actually find despite the adorable pix online, we were so pleasantly surprised to find it exactly as it was photographed. The cottage was clean and updated and just gorgeous! It still has that "rustic cottage" feel, but with all the comforts of home--A/C, cable TV, dishwasher, washer/dryer--with a huge screenporch overlooking the big yard where the kids played. The lake is only about 100 yards from the cottage, a short walk. There is a private beach area with soft beach sand. We're hoping to become "regulars" at Newfound Cottage!
