Beautiful private oceanfront property on Long Island, ME!

This property has 3 buildings: the main house, the stand alone studio and the owners cottage. For a full breakdown of the property and amenities, please continue reading.

The main house is a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom year-round home that sleeps up to 8 people with 3 queen beds and 1 full futon as additional sleeping in the master bedroom. This home also features a finished, walk out, open concept basement that sleeps and additional 8 people (4 full futons) and has its own full bathroom. Additionally, a stand alone one-bed studio on the property is included with the main house rental and can sleep an additional 2 adults but does not have its own bathroom. The house features an open concept kitchen, dining and living room on the main level.
Enjoy the most breathtaking views of the ocean with the walk out, wrap around deck. Enjoy the beautiful gardens at their peak in summer and one of Casco Bay's most beautiful sandy beaches just 100 yards away. It’s also a very quick ferry ride to Portland's Old Port restaurants and shops for a day or evening trip (water taxi’s frequent the island too for flexibility). A kayak is available for a trip across to Vaill Island, though at low tide you can also walk there (see photo of sandbar at low tide).
This is a perfect summer getaway for a large group of family and friends! From lobster bakes on the oceanfront rocks to lazy evenings reading on the porch or hammock, there are a ton of things to do (or not do) at this beautiful estate!

The owner’s historic cottage/bunkhouse is available for an additional cost. The cottage is one bedroom (king bed) one bathroom with a couch suitable for sleeping 2 additional. It has its own full bathroom with an open concept living and kitchen area with a walk-out private deck with an outdoor shower. For pricing, please inquire! **Should this not be requested to rent during your stay, please note that the owners may or may not be there.**

Amazing

Our stay on Long Island Maine was perfect. Karen and her family were the most hospitable hosts, communicating throughout our travels and stay, greeting us when we arrived, and acclimating us to all the house had to offer. The house was a perfect set up for our family with 5 children and had more than we could ask for. We hope to come back!

Paradise

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Karen, Jackie, and this entire property. It was a magical week for our family of grandparents, adult children, and grandkids. And so much needed. We arrived feeling a bit ragged around the edges and left feeling restored. We fell in love with Maine and Long Island. Karen and Jackie could not have been more welcoming and responsive. We are so grateful for our time here.

Wonderful time!

We had a fantastic time at the house! It was so nice that Karen and Travis met us at the ferry- they accompanied us to their home, gave us a tour, and answered any and all questions we had. The beach was so close and amazing! The large rocks in front of the house at the oceanside were loved by all the kids. Great climbing rocks! We had a great time exploring the tide pools. The village was wonderful, everyone in town was so friendly. Just a note- while the basement/bunk room has exterior stairs and an exterior door, there are no interior stairs to access from inside. We had the kids sleep down there and we hooked up a video monitor to peek in during the nighttime. That fixed our problem and the kids loved it down there! It was not a significant problem, just something to plan for. Thank you Karen and Travis for everything!

Perfect vacation for young families

Our vacation to Long Island was absolutely what we all needed. Getting to the island takes a bit of coordination but is totally worth it. The location, home and island has everything, especially for all of our young families. The owners were easy to communicate with and clearly committed to us enjoying our time together. The beach is a rare find. The experience could not have been better. Many thanks!

A Lovely Maine Getaway

Our stay was very nice. The location to the beach was excellent, just a short walk, and good for the children to be able to run to and from the beach. The home was well set and stocked, and all went as we were told it would. The owners were great to work with. Nothing like Maine in the summer!

Great Property Even Better Location

This was an amazing trip for a large group of family and friends. The property has arguably one of the best locations on Long Island and the layout with multiple houses made sleeping arrangements with a bunch of kiddos easy and enjoyable. Owner/s couldn’t have been more communicative, accommodating and easy to work with especially considering the ever-changing COVID regulations going into the rental. Long Island itself is super laid back, feels far away, even though it’s a quick boat ride from Portland and has two beaches that are postcard worthy. We would go back in a heartbeat.
