About this property

Villa in Goult: spacious, stylish, and well-equipped

announcement: As of Summer 2022, this property has undergone several substantial upgrades. Photos will follow soon.
Villa Trabari-sur-Lumières is not a hotel or a generic "luxury guest house." It is the real deal: an authentic, stylish, impeccably maintained and updated 5-bedroom provençal home with two kitchens, a lap-swimming pool, breath-taking views, and a welcoming garden (originally designed by Nicole de Vesian) surrounded by extensive private grounds and a public forest with hiking trails. The villa is a comfortable retreat for family and friends, and yet only 5-10 minutes on foot from the charming historic village of Goult, with its boulangerie (bakery), café, excellent restaurants (including the Bartavelle--reserve in advance!), and purveyors of local cheese, produce, and other delicacies. Thus you can go for a private morning swim in the morning, while sending your kid(s) to pick up some fresh bread in the village... Supported by a discrete but welcoming staff, you will be able to stay healthy and "confined" to the villa as long as you want or need to, and then begin to venture out into the Luberon region, with its magnificent bike rides, villages and local farmer's markets.

About the host

Host profile image
Manon and Marc have been coming to Goult since 1982, when Marc's parents first moved there and began to make friends. (Marc's mom, Michelle, was known for the children's programs she created at the library, while she was its director). They still live in Boston, Massachusetts (USA), but are planning to retire in Goult, after their youngest son graduates... Manon is an artist, and Marc is an executive coach and educator who specializes in teaching people how to coach each other. They love this house as a gathering place for friends and family and have maintained relationships with staff and suppliers who have helped them to maintain and update the house, so that it stays in top condition.
----

Why they chose this property

Villa Trabari-sur-Lumières is first of all an incredible location. When Marc's step-father, Daniel, first discovered the property at the end of the path that circumvents the village wall, he had no doubt this was the place he wanted to build a home. Surrounded by a beautiful forest, terraced fields, old stone walls and stone huts ("bories"), and views of the Luberon and Mont Ventoux, it provided a feeling of coziness in a spacious and open landscape. The house Daniel built respects the landscape and provides much bigger windows onto the outdoors than a traditional farmhouse would (see the photos of the living-room). Over the next 35 years, he and his beloved wife, Michèle, maintained and improved the garden, the pool, the kitchen, the guest rooms, and so much more, recruiting the talents of designer Nicole de Vesian (for the garden), and landscape architect Michel Desvignes (for advice on the interior), among others.
----

What makes this property unique

The villa is private and isolated, yet walking-distance from one of the most charming and authentic historic villages of the Luberon region: Goult. Goult is lesser known and therefore less crowded than Gordes, Bonnieux or Lacoste, an yet provides all of the benefits of a "full-service" village, including purveyors of local cheese, meats and vegetables, a wonderful bakery and charming streets to wander through. The Luberon region, as a whole, is full of delights and hikes. Marc and Manon have been coming here every summer for 30+ years--with kids and without--and have never tired of discovering and re-visiting it.
---
