About this property
Greek Revival cottage
1840s Greek Revival cottage in the beautiful Schoharie Valley, situated beside a placid creek overlooking a horse pasture and distant hills. The two bedroom, two bath house has been completely renovated with new mechanical systems, new kitchen and baths and washer/dryer and is fully furnished with antique furnishings. The kitchen has a new propane stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, pots and pans, dishes, and cutlery. The baths have a shower, but no tub. Linens and towels are provided. The first bedroom has a double bed and the second has two twin beds. That said, it is an old house in the country. That will be the charm for many people, hopefully including those reading this, but there may be occasional mechanical issues beyond my control and I appreciate your patience if so. There is convenient off-street parking and 1/3 acre of gardens, with convenient access to state parks, restaurants, recreational facilities, antiquing and cultural and historic sites.

Beautiful gardens, lovely antiques decorating the house. Had every thing we needed. The owner was gracious and very accommodating. Would highly recommend!!
It was very beautifully decorated with antiques and very comfortable. He had everything you could need available and very responsive to me as we were arriving quite late.
The gardens were incredible and the babbling brook behind the house was a real treat!
We had a wedding for the weekend at the Mill Pond Inn, this was a great central location for all our weekend wedding festivities.
The property was absolutely gorgeous. The gardens were lovely to look at and the house was beautiful. Steve was great with making sure we had everything we needed and letting us know of any quirks there may be.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this cottage. The location couldn’t have been better. Sipping coffee in the morning on the back porch listening to the creek was lovely. The only thing missing was a place to lounge in the evenings, but we knew that going in and it didn’t take away from our stay. Overall a great experience.
The property was well maintained and in a really lovely setting. The grounds were well maintained and the house was really charming, full of vintage furniture and quite comfortable. We had a lovely time as we were there for my son's wedding at a farm 30mins away. If this is an area you want to visit, you will love it here. And our host was fantastic! Thank you Steve <3
Very pleasant location. It’s right on the road which makes it convenient for getting around, but a little bit noisy if you need total peace and quiet. That wasn’t a concern for us. The house has a great library with lots of interesting books to look at.

Sulfer water/smells like rotten eggs
The sulfer water is the only reason we would not come back. The house is very nice. Lots of antiques and pretty rooms, but nothing to really hangout and relax on. 2-3 stuffed chairs all in different rooms. The living room couch is not something you can really relax on. Lots of chairs, but more like dining chairs.
The full bed was comfortable.
The whole places need a good vacuum and dusting around the floors and corners. Found a sock under one of the beds and one of the dressers. Could see from where I was standing.
Not bad if you are just for a night or 2 to attend an event. But don’t plan to hang around the house. It’s not that kind of house.
We loved our stay at the cottage. It sits along a lovey creek (or maybe it was babbling brook) across from a farm with horses. Apart from being very kind and generous (he let me borrow a belt for a wedding), Steve is an expert gardener and his grounds are immaculate. The cottage has a parlor room that with what looks like authentic late 19th early 20th century antique furniture and trappings. Between the house and garden you'll feel like you stepped into a different century.
The general surrounding area is sparsely populated but nice for a short weekend trip with a couple cute shops in Stamford. Be warned a lot of places close at 2 after lunch but the Mill Pond Inn has a nice dinner menu and breakfasts at Buck Hill Farm is one of the best breakfast spots I've ever been to with fresh eggs, sausages, and syrup all raised and harvested on location. When you get home from dinner take at least a few minutest to look up, the stars and lightening bugs put on a great show!
It was very easy to communicate with the owner. He was very accessible to ask some questions of local area and make suggestions. Wife had unplanned and unfortunate medical emergency while visiting in the area. Owner was very helpful to husband getting our things together and departing. Over and above help!!
We booked this house because we were attending a wedding in the area. The shower upstairs would not give hot water, and the one downstairs couldn’t hold a steady stream of hot water. Beds were uncomfortable and hard, cobwebs in many places, mildew smell in house, refrigerator was dirty. An overall terrible experience!!
This is a lovely, well outfitted house filled with pretty things and surrounded by lush gardens. The kitchen has everything you need to cook. There are lots of fun books. Steve, the owner, was easy to reach and a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend this property!
just perfect for the setting, close to a GREAT restaurant, gas & Co. Next to a creek where the you hear the water all day and night like a soothing pulse. Plus Steve is just about the kindest most manager I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with!
Thank you!
Very conveniently located for our Blenheim Hill Farm wedding weekend, this lovely cottage made a fun weekend even better. Steven’s gardens and attention to detail are remarkable!
Steve greeted us in the driveway to hand us the key. He was very attentive and available for information about the area. Lansing Manor and Mine Kill Park were the best recommendations.
The house sits on a creek lovely listening to the water flow. The weather make the creek turn into a River The horses on the property behind we’re fun to watch graze in their field. Thank you Steve for a great week.

This is a fantastic property. We were so comfortable in this beautiful home. The grounds are just as stunning as the home itself. I hope to be able to stay here again in the future.
What a wonderful weekend! The house is lovely! Beautifully restored by the owner and very comfortable. My husband, 26 year old son and I attended a wedding at nearby Blenheim Hill Farm and this was a perfect location. Will definitely try to stay here again when we are in the area. Recommend very highly!
Beautiful Home with creek out back and horses on adjacent property. Nice porch to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea and listen to the water and nature. Beautiful flowers around property. Great communication. Highly recommended
The Catskills are dotted with elegant houses which remind us of the past. This tidy and tastefully restored home blends modern comforts with that beautiful nostalgia. Steve knows the home and the area extremely well and makes sure your stay is great. Ask him—he’ll know where you should hike, eat and visit.
My boyfriend and I needed a relaxing weekend getaway and this was the perfect place! Steve is a great host with a clean and nice property. The creek in the yard was great along with a clean and updated house. We had a great time relaxing and visiting the waterfalls close by. Would absolutely stay again!
