About this property

Lakefront on Wallenpaupak with private dock. Great for family gatherings

This lakefront home has plenty of space for family or friend groups to gather together with a separate sleeping area to allow room to spread out! The main level living space has two bedrooms, a bathroom, kitchen, living room, a screen porch used as an enclosed eating area, and a large deck overlooking the lake. The lower level has a game room with a second equally spacious covered deck and an extra sleeping area with a full/twin bunk and an odd little bathroom area. The upstairs has a loft area with and large bedroom with two sets of bunk beds, a queen/twin bunk and full/twin bunk. There is a private bathroom for this room. In addition to the main house, there is a separate 2-bedroom space and its own private living space (no kitchen) and deck. There is a fully stocked kitchen, BBQ grill, and linens are provided on request. We have central air throughout the house and apartment
There is a private floating dock available from early April through fall. A community boat launch is just 0.3 miles down the road. 2 kayaks and a paddle board are available for your use. The community center also has a swimming pool, playgrounds, tennis courts and basketball court. Boat and jet ski rentals are available on the lake Memorial Day through Labor Day. The dock is in a protected cove across from Cairns Island. This is a beautiful location in a very popular NO WAKE ZONE! Swim right off the dock. Cairns Island has a picnic area and beach, and there is a bald eagle nest just down the road.
THIS IS A STEEP MOUNTAIN PROPERTY WITH MANY STEPS DOWN TO THE LAKE. The marina is close by and could be used to pickup/drop off anyone who might have trouble with the steps. The main level of the house can be accessed with just two small steps and a firepit also on the same level as the driveway.
Winter rentals please be aware that the driveway is extremely steep requiring 4wheel drive. When icy, sometimes it cannot be plowed, and it may be necessary to park at the top of the drive and use the stairs.
Summer rentals are Saturday to Saturday.

Great place for a large family on the water

We had a large family reunion. It was a great place with plenty of room, water access, kayaks, life jackets, all kitchen and bedroom accommodation, outdoor grill and fire pit, large dining table to accommodate everyone. It was perfect for our family.

A very nice property for large family gatherings

We had a week long stay with fourteen family members and a small dog, it couldn’t have worked out better! The layout gives plenty of space to gather or quiet separation. The quiet dock location was one of the best on the lake!

Great for a big group

The location of the house directly on the lake and large sleeping capacity make for a great party house. The Apt is particularly appealing. However in general the property, furnishings and bedding are well used and need to be upgraded. The one big surprise was a toilet in tthe middle of one bedroom.

Friends and Family Lake Getaway

We had a large group of friend and family. The house was very accommodating especially with the two bedroom detached apartment. The deck overlooks the lake was awesome and the location on the lake was wonderful. The fire pit was very nice for evening smores. Definitely going to return.

Perfect for Family Reunion

Wonderful space on a beautiful lake! Plenty of room to spread out! Pool table & ping pong was a bonus. Perfect for a large family! Drive way is tricky! A little difficult to manage with an elderly person or someone with mobility issues! Overall wonderful place!

We had a great weekend! The house was huge and slept us all comfortably. It was very clean and had all that we needed. Jeanne was very responsive and answered all of my questions in a timely manner. I highly recommend!

Family vacation

House was just as described. Plenty of room for our family of 12 to spread out. The apartment was perfect for the teens to have their own space yet still be part of our celebration. The only downside is the steep terrain. This is in the description but should definitely be considered in case you have very young/elderly members in the group. Beautiful view and location is convenient to everything.

Awesome Property

Great place to stay with friends or family. Tons to do. The property owners have done a very nice job of have everything you really need everywhere you need it. From all the fire places/ heaters on the decks to the fire pit to the lake access. It’s truly a great place to stay. All the amenities you could ever need and more. Saw a bald eagle right off the front deck.

Wonderful family vacation home

This was a great house for a full family vacation. We had 16 people, 4 separate families, aged 6 to 66. The house had plenty of rooms and space to spread out. It was stocked with everything you could need for a perfect getaway. The only issue was the stairs to the lake. We were definitely warned, but those stairs are no joke. Be warned, they are not for the elderly or those with carrying age children. Would absolutely book this house again!

Overdue Family Gathering

We had a wonderful time enjoying family from different parts of the country, at the lake, over the 4th of July week. It was a family reunion. We were able to spend time at the lake and pool with grandchildren, and had some good campfires. We also visited with siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins and old friends. It is a great location with plenty of room. Jeanine and Kurt were very helpful in addressing any questions quickly. Thank you for sharing your home.

Family reunion

Beautiful property. Outside needs some attention, weeds etc but it's a wooded lot with a lot of wildlife to watch. The deer, chipmunks and squirrels come really close. Bald eagles are amazing. The inside was clean and well stocked. The layout functioned perfectly for our large group. Only complaints would be that the mattresses in the apartment are very uncomfortable and the lower level bathroom needs to be enclosed. The owners were great and so easy to deal with. Overall we had a great time!

Amazing Clean Home Right on the Lake!

My wife and two kids have stayed at Lake Wallenpaupack many times and this home has been by far our best experience. First, the location right on the lake was perfect. The property includes a nice U shaped dock where we docked a boat rental for a few days. My family had a great time swimming near the dock and my son and I caught 10-12 fish just in a few hours from the dock. The house itself was extremely clean and well stocked with both the standard things like soap, toilet paper, paper towels, trash bags, etc. as well as unexpected nice touches like paper plates and plastic utensils, which our stay that much more enjoyable. Downstairs there is a very nice game room that were great for taking a break from the lake! The beds were comfortable and the bedrooms had AC units to keep us cool. The appliances were modern and the kitchen was well stocked. I highly recommend this home for your lakefront vacation getaway!

Lovely property on the lake

We had such a great time staying at this property. Even though the lake level was down (which we were told about) we still took the kayaks out and were able to explore the island across from the property (100% recommend doing). My husband even found some arrow heads out there. It is close eniugh to the Promise Land State park to enjoy hiking there as well. We had fun playing ping pong, pool, and having a camp fire each evening. If you are bothered by dog hair, please remember they do allow pets for an extra fee. My 1 year old often had dog hair all over her from crawling on the floors and found dog food multiple times. Communication with owners was fabulous. They responded so quickly and even helped ship sunglasses that we accidentally left behind.

Family Celebration of our 50th Anniversary

This was the perfect location with an absolutely beautiful view of Lake Wallenpaupack, access to everything we needed, and lots of opportunities for "adventures and exploring" right on the property. We had a glorious time with our eight grandchildren ranging from 15 months to almost 10 years old. A quote from four of our grandchildren (ages 3 - 5), "We got to live in the woods when we came to the "Coconos" (child speak for Poconos)! There was enough room for everyone and the apartment over the garage was a great help. We rented a boat, were right across from Cairns Island (picnic area and a beach), swam off the dock, appreciated the "No wake" zone in front of the property, did nature focused scavenger hunts, enjoyed the fire pit, shared the deck with a resident squirrel and chipmunk, and were thankful for the two large tables on the porch where we could do activities, do our annual cousin birthday party, have family dinners, and celebrate our 50th anniversary with our entire family! We were so thankful that Jeanine recommended that we bring life jackets for all of the children - they were essential and got lots of use. We were provided with all the information we needed ahead of time and Jeanine was extremely responsive to any questions/details pertinent to our family. We will always remember the treasured memories we have of spending time with our children, their spouses, and our grandchildren in a place that was magical, practical, and gloriously beautiful!

Relaxation

We stayed here for an extended family trip. Between the main house and the apartment over the garage we had plenty of space (and even a little to spare) for our family of 13 people. The property is in a great location and easy to get to attractions but we really felt like we had lots of privacy. The dock was great with enough room for us to have a couple boats and a bunch of us hanging out there together. The kids enjoyed kayaking, paddle boarding and swimming in the cove off the dock. The steps up and down from the house are no joke!! We normally planned to stay down there for a few hours at a time to avoid going up them too much. The outdoor deck off the main floor of the house was also very spacious for us to hang out when we weren’t at the water. There is a bald eagle’s nest a couple properties down so we had a chance to see them flying around quite a bit. There were even two hanging out on the roof of our garage to greet us the first day of our stay. We would definitely stay here again!!

Perfect Family Vacation

From start to finish, renting this property was a dream. Communication with the owner was great and I can't say enough good things about the property. Check in was easy via lockbox and house was walk in ready. The kitchen and living areas were spacious with room for everyone to relax, watch a movie, play a game, etc. Lots of sleeping area and beds were comfy! The AC units kept the house cool during a hot week, so no complaints there! All basic amenities were available on site.....dishes, cookware, laundry, cleaning products, spices, etc. The decks were a beautiful spot to enjoy the outdoors and the private dock was awesome to hang out on; we fished, floated, kayaked and enjoyed the lake all week! Our group did include all adults; note there are a lot of steps from the house to the dock, so it may be more difficult with young children, but not undoable. The location is great - we visited Promised Land State Park and Claws n Paws Animal Park during our stay....both within 30 minutes of the house. Overall, an amazing family vacation in a lovely home in a great location. Highly recommend!!

Excellent 2 week stay

Nine family members stayed at this large wonderful property near Cairns Island. Accommodations were perfect for our family and I highly recommend this property. The hosts are wonderful and replied quickly to all questions we had. Jeanine, thank you so much for your hospitality.

Family vacation 2022

The lake was beautiful and the house was big enough that we always felt we had plenty of room. The beds were comfortable and everyone slept well. We didn’t use the community center at all. We tied floats up to the dock and spent all day down on the water. The one thing I would say that we could have used is a portable canopy because for most of the day there is no shade on the doc.

Our kids are all graduating and starting families of their own, and this home has the perfect layout for extended families. We have a place in Chincoteague that we also rent, and we have found that we love sharing our home with others. We love knowing that others have been able to make cherished family memories like we have. We pride ourselves on constantly improving the property for the best possible experience and take very seriously the suggestions from our renters.

Why they chose this property

Lakefront! We loved the larger lot that this home had compared to many lakefront properties on Wallenpaupack and the distance between homes, ample parking and privacy! Wildlife is everywhere. The cove is protected from the wakes of the main channel on the lake so it is much more pleasant for relaxing on the dock or swimming. It is a very popular place for boaters on the weekends for this reason.
