Make this Midtown East alcove studio with separate dining area your private pied-a-terre during your trip to New York. NOTE THAT THIS IS A FOURTH-FLOOR WALKUP. THERE IS NO ELEVATOR.
It's a sun-drenched, safe, serene, 400-square-foot pre-war apartment equipped with top-notch amenities throughout:

This fourth-floor, walk-up apartment is centrally located on East 30th Street between Fifth Avenue and Madison Avenue. It has central heat and air, contains a queen-sized Sealy Posturepedic mattress and box spring (as well as a top-quality, overstuffed chair that turns into a comfy futon bed in less than a minute) and comes with 100% cotton linens, a desk, dresser, flat-screen television and cable TV, free high-speed wireless Internet, toiletries, hair dryer, blackout shades.

Walk to subways, Times Square, Penn Station, Grand Central Terminal, the Jacob Javits Center, Greenwich Village, Chelsea. Laundromat is a block away, 24-hour deli at the corner, police precinct house is a block away.

No smoking in the apartment and no loud noise that might disturb neighbors. This is a quiet, residential building. If you're looking for a place to party til late in the night, please don't rent from me.
Note that construction noise on the block that some guests have cited in their reviews is no longer an issue, now that the building is complete.

Great central spot

Excellent location for exploring New York. Clear instructions on how to use things and where to find great food. We enjoyed coming back to our home base rather than a small hotel room. Thanks!

Happy to come back.

Myself and my husband had a great stay here. It's a compact little apartment but it was perfect for us. It has a small kitchen but all you need to cook meals if you want to. It is as described and was just was we expected. As mentioned there are 4 flights of stairs up to it but we had no problem and we are 59 and 66. As regards to the building that's going on around it, we never heard anything, it's not a problem. In fact we found it to be quite a quiet part of the street. I would be happy to stay here again.

Great place in a great location

This was a girls trip for my daughters 18th birthday and we really enjoyed our stay here. It was close to broadway and easy to get to the subway stations to get the other tourist sites. What also was nice was the place was just enough out of the way that the streets were not overly busy or noisy at night. We felt safe no matter what time of the day we were moving around. I would definitely recommend this VRBO and we would definitely stay here again.

Cute place, not for everyone though!

This would be a cute spot to stay for some but not for everyone! There are 60 stairs to unit, the unit didnt have working radiator heat when I stayed. So the owner brought in a space heater, but you cant leave a space heater plugged in all day while out of the apartment. When returning to unit at night the space heater took about 4 to 5 hours to heat apartment. At any rate that's why I requested an early check out. I also stained the pillows cases on my side of bed. Because I sweat at night and I have purple hair. I did bring an old towel for that on my trip but that night I forgot to put old towel over pillow case. I did stain the pillow and let the owner know. The owner removed those pillows from the bed and the pillow cases, so he could bleach the stain out. I guess the stain did come out but we were only left with 2 pillows instead of the 4 we started with. I would recommend if you sweat and have color that bleeds definitely bring an old towel to sleep on and use it. Then you wont have the problems I did.

Great location and apartment - true to the listing

Overall our stay was fantastic. The apartment is older and the stairs are killer after a long day walking the city but it was quiet, comfortable, and a great location to be close to everything. The listing is correct, if you cannot do four flights of stairs, this is not your apartment. However, if you can, the apartment is just off 5th so it is easy to get anywhere and since it is a bit off the square, the night is much quieter. We had no issues with the neighbors because as we entered the apartment we took off our shoes as was suggested. The bed is very comfortable. I do believe we will stay here again if we visit NY again.

Zentrale Lage, alles zu Fuß gut zu erreichen. Älteres Haus, etwas hellhörig, aber ruhige Nachbarn. Sauber. Gemütliche Einrichtung, alles notwendige ist vorhanden. Zahlreiche Infos, Tipps und Hinweise vom Vermieter vor Ankunft per Mail. Sehr hilfreich. Gerne wieder.

A few days in NYC

Loved everything about this apartment! The tasteful decor and extra amenities provided made us feel at home right away. The location was very convenient to getting in and out of the City and to getting around all the sights. Tom provided lots of very useful information to help with our stay. We tried many of the restaurants and eateries he suggested and were not disappointed. Thank you very much for everything!

NYC Apt

Loved our little studio apt .Had everything we needed.Other than the cranky neighbors,who banged hard on their ceiling ,we were on top floor ,I guess they didn't like the sound of us walking around.There was only one night we got home late,11pm after the theater. It would have been nice if in the evening we had some hot water to shower and wash dishes but only once did we have it .But all being said we would rent it again.It was a perfect location.

Perfect for a city getaway

Oh, the stair workout!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in NYC. We have actually stayed in a few VRBO properties in different areas of the city. This one is mediocre in comparing them all. We loved the easy access to the subway and walking distance to many activities. The bed was comfy. Those stairs a KILLER at the end of a long day of walking! I learned quickly just how out of shape I am. My 7-year-old actually slipped on them coming down one morning. They are steep and narrow and 4 TALL stories high. We had three occasions where we were just walking around getting ready for the day and the neighbor below us banged on the ceiling really hard with something (I can imagine it was a broomstick). We were doing nothing other than walking around. We felt like we just had to sit still and tip toe around. We don’t drink coffee, but there was plenty there for use. There were plenty of extra toiletries as well including shampoo and conditioner and other miscellaneous things. While I would not necessarily choose this apartment again when stacked against others, it is accurately portrayed and served the purpose of a place to rest our heads at the end of a long day— in safety and comfort.

Apartamento perfecto

El apartamento de Tom es tal como se muestra en las imágenes y como se describe.Al lado de la quinta avenida y del empire state,a 15 minutos de Times Sq,se puede ir caminando a la mayoría de las zonas turísticas de Manhattan. Muy limpio y con todo lo que se puede necesitar para pasar unos días en la ciudad. Conocimos a Tom porque tuvimos un pequeño problema y nos lo solucionó en el momento,el trato fue inmejorable.El único 'inconveniente' es que es un cuarto sin ascensor pero nosotros no tuvimos problema a pesar de ir con un bebé. Recomendable 100%.

Central location adds to great NYC trip

Tom painted a very honest picture of the property, but you never know how good it really is till you are there. His directions are also great. The locations a short walk from Penn Station, the location is perfect for sojourns to the theatre district, village and Chelsea. There are lots of very good restaurants in teh area - that he has helpfully summarized - otherwise it might be overwhelming. The bed was incredibly comfortable and there were even plenty of tissue boxes! The 4 floor walk up was really negligible. The only thing I wold recommend is to bring ear plugs. After all it is NYC.
