About this property

Beautiful Renovated Home with Stunning Sea and Mountain Views

Feel like you’re on top of the world!

Beautiful, newly-restored house on two levels overlooking the stunning, crystal-blue Adriatic sea, the majestic Maiella mountain range and the breathtaking Gran Sasso (central Italy’s tallest mountain). Enjoy your morning coffee with a view from one of the two terraces or from the balcony off the master bedroom. Located in the historical city-center of Silvi Paese, this home offers everything the discerning guest could be looking for.

Looking to relax? The house is only 3 kms from the endless white sand beaches lining the Adriatic. Lay among the old-growth pines and palms and soak up the sun or go for a dip in the sea.

Looking for culture? Just a short drive up the hills is Atri, a gorgeously preserved town dating from Roman times. Or wander the cobblestone lined streets of Silvi itself.

Looking for shopping? Silvi Paese is located just 15 kms from Pescara, a major city, home to several shops carrying all the latest Italian designs. Travel by bus, train, or take your own car.

Looking for adventure? A short 20 minute drive takes you up into the foothills of the Maiella or Gran Sasso mountain range where endless hiking trails take you through historical towns and natural, rolling pastures. Don’t forget to stop and say hi to the shepherds as they tend to their sheep!

Looking for great food and wine? It’s everywhere you go!

The house is located in the heart of Silvi Paese, which is situated on an escarpment (about 300m above sea level) overlooking the Adriatic sea. It is close to all amenities, including quaint restaurants, bars, grocery stores, a bakery and gelateria - all family-owned and inviting. Larger grocery stores and additional restaurants and bars are a short drive away in Silvi Marina.

Silvi Paese is located 2 hours (175km) east of Rome on one of Italy’s greatest highways with scenic views and minimal traffic. Silvi Paese is easily accessed by train, bus or car. The closest airport is Abruzzo International Airport, in Pescara.

Italian hilltop village
From the friendly welcome to the warm good-byes, we appreciated the feel of living in a small Italian hilltop village. The apartment suited our needs and was a welcome calm retreat from the busy sightseeing of our days. Tony's tips for restaurants and places to see were most helpful and greatly appreciated.

onvergetelijke vakantie

Grazie Tony

Great Stay
We stayed in Tony’s Casa for 7 nights in early September in the small town of Silvi Paese. The town is situated close to beautiful blue flag beaches and close to stunning medieval hill towns. The house itself is very nicely finished and well equipped. We enjoyed the second floor terrace where we watched village life go by and enjoyed stunning views of the coast and the mountains. Our host provided great information before we arrived and communication was fast and easy. A good number of dining options allowed us to spend relaxing evenings in the small town. Highly recommend.

Thank you, Tony! We'll be back.

Insgesamt sehr empfehlenswert!

Fantastic location
The location in Silvi Paese / Centro Storico was perfect for us. Local restaurants, cafes, gelateria all within a few hundred meters and a very silent place. The apartment very nice and with all equipment needed. The views from the terraces was fantastic. Excellent beach reachable within few minutes by car. In addition we enjoyed the town festival with lot of local entertainment every evening.

Sitting on top of the World.
We stayed in the apartment for nearly 3 weeks and every day was a pleasure. The views are truly stunning. I never got tired of sitting on the patio looking out over the Adriatic. The place was on of the best equipped we have ever stayed in and we have used Home Away quite a bit. We found a couple of very nice restaurants within a couple hundred yards from our door. Silvi Alta was one of the most charming little towns we have stayed in Italy. The piazza of the town was just below the balcony of our bedroom. We had several guests (Italian friends and family) join us for short stays. The beach and beach action is a short ride down the hill. It was great being in a quiet somewhat out of the way spot. We had so much fun with my wife's stepfather's family, that there was little time for sightseeing on our own. No matter, we were having too much fun with other activities (mostly eating and socializing). If you are looking for an out of the way spot that has the feel and texture of the real Italy, this place is for you.

Perfect place for beach vacation and historic center
If you are looking to be close to the sea and in a beautiful historic town, this is the rental for you. The property is as described with two nice bedrooms and a pull out sofa by the terrace. It is cool enough that you do not need air conditioning and the terrace overlooking the ocean is stunning! The town also has beautiful views and a handful of stores. It is very charming. You need a car or you can take the bus down to the sea. We tried many beaches along the seafront including Pineto, Silvi Marina and Monte Silvano. The beaches in Pineto are along a pine forest. Montesilvano has the large rocks which you can swim out to. All of the towns have restaurants and beach clubs on the sea as well as public areas. There is a large mall about 7 minutes from the house. If you are looking for a pool, the hotel Casa Nostra will allow you to swim there for 7 euros per person for half a day. They have a beautiful vista and pool. The owners are very helpful and respond to all questions. The local agents also are very nice and live very close. The kitchen is well equipped but does not have a dishwasher or microwave. In the beginning we had 6 people in the apartment which I would say is a little small. Four would be ideal. There are some excellent restaurants right in town so you can walk to them as well as a bar and gelateria right under the apartment. It took us about 7 minutes to drive down to Silvi Marina and about 10 to get to a beach which we did almost every day. Amazing hikes in the Gran Sasso mountains and beautiful towns and festivals all within about 20 minutes. Would highly recommend!

a wonderful experience of village life in Abruzzi
The renovated home is beautiful and well appointed (staples in cupboards, lovely towels, even an umbrella, . Beds are comfortable and there is everything to make you feel at home. Driving directions are excellent and recommendations for restaurants are very accurate. The property manager is very helpful. It is well worth the money - we bought food and ate in - enjoyed the local restaurants - toured form there many days and enjoyed the beach. Be sure to tell the locals where you are staying and you will get good service

Silvi Paese is absolutely wonderful! The view from the terrace of this home is magnificent and you can see the whole Adriatic coast. This villa is newly redecorated and very comfortable. The stroll in the village is relaxing and there are four great restaurants just a few minutes from the Villetta-even a Ristorante del Buon Ricordo-Ristorante Vecchia Silvi! We loved our stay and have recommended Villetta Susana and Silvi to our friends for a wonderful Italian getaway.

Vacation in beautiful real Italian village
Five of us stayed in the villa and had a fabulous time. The pictures can't capture the unbelievable view from the 2 rooftop terrraces. Although We had some really great meals in the town We loved just sitting on the terrace in the evenings with local foods and wine from the market down the street. Everyone in the town was so nice even though We don't speak Italian well and not too many people spoke English, it was never a problem. It made us feel like We were really in Italy living like Italians and not just visitng tourist attractions. My husband's family was from a nearby town and the caretaker of the villa, Lorenzo, drove us to the town and did some interpreting. Lorenzo and his wife were such nice people and their help made the trip just perfect. The beach is just a few minutes away and is beautiful. You can't go wrong spending some of your vacation at the Villa, and is a great combination with spending time in Rome which is only 2 hours away.

This home is built into a castle wall (you can see a section of the original, circa-1100 stone wall in the exposed feature area in the den). The main floor has a combo living room/dining room/kitchen. Off that is the bathroom and the master bedroom with doors opening to a small balcony overlooking the town square (not noisy) and also giving a view far down the Adriatic coast. Upstairs there’s a bedroom, bathroom, den and outdoor terrace offering another “omigosh” view. Outdoor stairs from that terrace take you up to another, smaller terrace from which you can also see church bells immediately to the west or stretch your view to the eastern horizon far across the Adriatic. The home is in Silvi Paese, the old traditional town on the hill. 300 metres below on the Adriatic coast is Silvi Marina, a modern seaside resort area (excellent sand beaches and warm water). Laid out as a flat oval, the old town is a joyously walkable pastiche of compact dwellings, many built into the ancient stone wall that surrounded the castle. From the 250-metre-long main street, six- to eight-foot-wide laneways lead to dwellings and to a perimeter road. Scanning the coastline as you stroll along this road, you can see north and south to a vastly distant horizon. Landside, the view encompasses distant mountains and nearby rolling, verdant hills with lots of olive groves. Forget about glancing at your wristwatch – just listen to the lovely dongs (one at a quarter after; two at half past; three at a quarter to; and, on the hour, the corresponding number). All from the bell tower of the 12th century church just two doors away. It’s easy to become a belloholic here. While you won’t have to watch your watch, you will have to watch your waistline because there’s a gelato shop next door. Yummy! Our kids are all grown up, but we if I did have young children, we wouldn’t hesitate to bring them here. Italians love children and you’ll see lots of them – many live in the old town. Driving tips: all Italian males love Ferraris and on the road, many pretend they are driving one. Why else would so many pass while driving on your side of the line? They must figure a near miss signals great and daring expertise. I didn’t mind – makes for invigorating driving! The roads are in great condition, but signs can be confusing. Special tips: the owners know the area intimately and can give you wonderful ideas on how to make the most of your vacation, including short side trips to nearby ancient towns.

Great Stay!
Enjoyed staying here for two weeks. The home is up-to-date and clean - sleeping was very comfortable with the beautiful night breeze and ceiling fans in both bedrooms. Really enjoyed eating on the terrace with the beautiful view of the Adriatic. Finding close parking (month of August) was often a challenge when we returned in the evening. Also, the dishwasher was not operational, the frig is small (like those used in college dorms), and if you're going to watch TV in the sitting room near the kitchen, the sofa is more like a love-seat - seats only two.

Whoever first said "you c...
Whoever first said "you can see forever" must have spent time on this terrace. The mountains behind you, the ocean before you and the green coast stretching away forever in the other directions. We stayed for three days in July of 2009. I really can't tell you what the restaurants in the village or vicinity were like because we were not interested in eating anywhere but on our terrace with its magnificent view. This beautifully renovated villa sleeps six comfortably with great cooking facilities. We managed to keep our visits to the gelatto shop downstairs to twice a day. Stroll down the street for 60 seconds and enjoy another perspective on the view that people drive from miles around to see. Spend your mornings down on the beach, a five-minute car ride away. Spend your afternoons driving away from the ocean back towards the mountains and exploring peaceful villages perched on hilltops. Spend your evenings on the terrace looking down on the town's main square or looking at forever.

Our Italian holiday on th...
Our Italian holiday on the Adriatic coast was magnificant due in large part to our accommodations at "Villetta Susanna" in Silvi Paese. The house is newly decorated, beautifully appointed and situated in a quaint town. All amenities were carefully provided. The house affords a family privacy, as the second bedroom, bathroom, sitting room and terrace are located on the second floor. The owner of the property is most cordial and accommodating and the booking process went smoothly. The property managers in Silvi Paese offered us their most generous hospitality as well as their knowledge of the town and region. We also tremendously enjoyed our interaction with the residents of the town. I would higly recommend a stay at "Villetta Susana" for a unique Italian getaway. If I have the opportunity to visit the Abruzzo region of Italy again, I would book my accommodations at "Villetta Susana." Bon voyage!
