About this property

RiggsideKeswick, Modern, Spacious, Gardens, Parking & Panoramic Mountain Views.

Set in a residential area on a private road, RiggsideKeswick is an attractive, modern spacious semi-detached property, providing a high standard of accommodation at any time of the year with spectacular open views of Skiddaw and the Borrowdale Valley, and lovely garden areas.

Portinscale is a small hamlet just ten minutes walk by an off-road footpath in to Keswick town centre. Portinscale has a pub, a bistro, tearooms and two marinas, with facilities for both hire and instruction for water sports. Portinscale is an ideal base for a walking holiday. Just a very few of the possibilities nearby are the Newlands Valley, the Coledale Horseshoe, the Allerdale Ramble, Causey Pike, Catbells or a gentle stroll along the shores of Derwentwater.

Keswick offers a host of shops, restaurants, pubs, cinema and live theatre, and activities such as lake cruises, golf and tennis can also be enjoyed - all without getting in the car. Keswick offers some of the finest walking in the Lake District National Park, from the high tops of Skiddaw and Helvellyn to the smaller summits of Latrigg and Whinlatter Forest for every member of the family.

Accommodation: Entrance hallway with space for coats and shoes, and doors leading off to all downstairs rooms and stairs leading up to first floor. To the left is the sitting room decorated in contemporary colours with electric feature fireplace, 46" Smart TV, DVD, Wi-Fi broadband access, iPod docking station and panoramic fell views. To the right of the hall is a cloakroom (basin and wc).

To the rear of the house is the large kitchen diner (32" flat screen TV) with additional comfy seating area looking out on to the back garden. There are two sets of French doors leading out on to the patio area, one from the dining area and one from the seating area, making this a really light and airy room.

Upstairs on the first floor there are three bedrooms - the master bedroom with king-size bed and panoramic fell views, remote control flame effect electric fire, 28" flat screen TV, en-suite shower room with basin, wc and heated towel rail; neat twin room with fell views and a double room to the rear. Family bathroom with bath with shower over, basin, wc and heated towel rail.

There is a fourth bedroom up a further flight of stairs leading to a spacious attic room, which has two velux windows and twin beds with excellent views to the front and rear of the property (when the property is let to six people or less this bedroom is locked off).

The house has a really welcoming feel and is comfortably and thoughtfully decorated throughout, with co-ordinating soft furnishings, fitted carpets and solid flooring. Gas central heating and hot water on demand.

Very comfortable and well located holiday home
Our 2 families thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Riggside, the house is very comfortable - spending the majority of our time in the kitchen/dining/lounge area. It’s just 150yards to the local pub and then about 1mile walking in one direction to Keswick and 1mile in the opposite direction to the Lingholme estate so plenty to do on the doorstep and little need for the car.

Had a fantastic long weekend with family. The property was in a great location, views were outstanding. Ample drive for parking which was great. It was spotless, beautiful and very well equipped, home from home. The owner Richard was lovely and couldn’t do enough to ensure we had a great time. Bottle of wine on arrival which was lovely. I would definitely come back and I would recommend this property to friends and family. Joanne 😊

The house was great. Comfy and warm. The weather not do good.
Unfortunately there was scaffolding up around the house, and workers next door, starting at 8 a.m. I would stay again, and recommend it to friends. Richard was very friendly and helpful. The Lake District is beautiful !

Great House - Lovely location!
Riggside provided everything we needed. Best thing about the house was plenty of space. Even with 7 of us it never felt crowded, and we spent nearly the whole time in the kitchen, which was such a great living space. Highly recommended, would love to go back.

Amazing location, amazing property, amazing holiday.
The house is situated in the lovely area of Portinscale. The house is up on a hill which gives amazing views that we never tired of looking at. The house was immaculate and felt like home immediately. Waking up those amazing views gave us the best possible start to the day and with Keswick a short walk this place was ideal for us. Cannot recommend highly enough and would add more stars to this review if I could.

A Perfect house in a perfect location
Spacious, Bright, Well Equipped, very clean, with stunning views and great walks from the door We have stayed in dozens of holiday homes in the Lake District and I have to say this is the best one we have had the pleasure of holidaying in Richard (The Owner) was perfect - answering any questions we had about the property or any information on the area (and beyond) Very quiet location but still easy walk to the local amenities and only a short walk along a good footpath into Keswick which has a large Co-op and Booths for your main shopping Very well equipped - including a very nice coffee machine :) We had the main double bedroom which was very spacious and had great views - Bed was so comfortable it was hard to leave it in the morning We loved the sun room and spent most of our time in there as we were lucky with the weather :) Lovely back garden if you want to sit out during the day dozens of great walks direct from the door so there is no need to use your car once you have arrived We will be using Riggside again without hesitation

Beautiful house in beautiful surroundings
We had a lovely four day weekend at Riggside. It is very well equipped and cosy and very well placed for exploring Keswick and the lakes. We loved the seating area in the kitchen and could have sat drinking the tassimo coffees all day! We loved the TV and cosy fire in the master bedroom too. Great touches that set it apart from other cottages.

About the host

Hosted by Richard & Lynn Dixon

Host profile image
This house has been in family for over 5 decades, we completely renovated it in 2008 and regular updates and improves each year, with ground floor extension and additional attic room. we do all the change overs personally to ensure the very highest standards for our guests.

Why they chose this property

We love this house and when we can, we stay as often as possible. It's a great location to explore the Lake District, you can leave your car and walk everywhere. It's only 10/15 minute flat walk in to Keswick town centre from Riggside.

What makes this property unique

The views and sunsets you get from this property must be some of the best in the Lakes. The modern open plan layout is great for large groups and families to celebrate special occasions and spend time together.
