About this property

Cabin has one bedroom (king size bed) and one bathroom, has a full eat in kitchen with everything you need to cook and serve with. The cabin has a full size washer and dryer on site. It also has a wood burning fireplace ( one bundle of wood provided), screened in porch with hot tub, and a covered parking area. All bed and bath linens are provided. The property joins the Desoto State Park Management area, so you can hike to Little River from property.

Cute little house

My husband and I stayed here for our 18th wedding anniversary. It was such a cute little house! The pictures are accurate! It was perfect for the 2 of us! Our host left us a welcome note and a sweet treat! Check in process was a breeze with no issues! There were clear directions on the checkout process provided in a notebook along with some great information on food, hiking trails and such! My only complaint is the shower was small! I will definitely recommend this house to others. Thank you to our hosts for making this a GREAT anniversary getaway!

Perfect getaway spot in the quiet woods

We loved our long weekend stay here. It was very quiet and peaceful. Everything was very clean, orderly, and comfortable. It was such a nice touch to leave us some delicious pound cake. The nearness to nature is awesome! There are lots of trails and sights nearby. The hot tub made the weekend extra relaxing. I got some incredible sleep here too, the bed was so nice. We will definitely be back! I would recommend to bring some DVDs since there is a dvd player, we will do that next time. Thank you for the lovely stay

The perfect getaway!

This cabin is amazing! It is so quiet and peaceful and the host Terrie is fabulous. The cabin was spotless and was well stocked with everything we needed. We enjoyed being able to hike right out the back door to some beautiful scenery, and the fireplace and hot tub just added to the relaxing experience. The towns right around are so cute and friendly with some wonderful restaurants and fun shopping. I would highly recommend this place and hope that we can return again in the future! Thank you, Terri, for sharing your cabin and your amazing pound cake!!

Perfect perfect perfect

This place was exactly what we needed for a romantic anniversary vacation. The cottage is beautiful and comfortable with really lovely touches throughout. The hosts are amazing and kind. I’m absolutely neurotic but Teri graciously answered all my questions with patience and understanding. There was enough seclusion to feel comfortable and private but not so cut off that it felt like we were completely off the grid. We’re definitely already thinking about going back next year. Also the blueberry pound cake that Teri made was phenomenal and such a lovely touch. I also have severe cinnamon allergies and she worked with me to make sure I would be safe. Cannot have been happier with our decision to rent this place.

Second Stay

Every thing here is clean, cozy and calm. It’s our second visit and we would be delighted to stay again. We enjoy strolling to the nearby stream and this year hiked to the bottom of Desoto Falls which we highly recommend.

10 Year Anniversary Long Weekend

Wonderful Cabin! Extremely clean! They had it decorated for Valentine's Day and was just the right suttle touches to not be too much. The bed was very comfortable. It got down to the mid 20s during our stay but the heater worked very well, as did the fireplace, hot water and water pressure. The hot tub was huge and very clean as well. Probably could use a new cover soon because a few pieces crumble off into the water when removing or replacing top. Not a big deal to us but I would hate for it to damage the filter. Kitchen was well stocked for a small cabin. They also provided hand soap, dawn, and few pods for the washer/dishwasher. Lots of extra blankets, games, movies, towels, robes, etc. Beautiful cupcakes that my husband really enjoyed. Host contacted us a month out to provide more details and address to plan ahead. Then day of check-in detailed driving instructions in case the GPS didn't get us there. Our GPS did fine but it did say we arrived at the destination 200yds too soon, which would have been concerning if the owner had not sent the message earlier that day since it was an abandoned house/trailer/car/camper. The cabin may be on 22 acres but it is right off the road across from a seasonal farm house and next to an cabin that is a permanent home. That is the only reason I gave the location 4 stars instead of 5. However it was extremely peaceful. It is about 25min from Fort Payne and 5min from Desoto Park. Would definitely stay again! Thank you!

The best weekend getaway!

We enjoyed this getaway so so much! Mrs. Terri is the best host with the best pound cake!! The cabin is super cute and cozy. I loved the screened-in porch!! We will return and recommend to others!

Al's Nest

Our 3 night stay at Al's Nest was amazing. The cottage was beyond our expectations. Upon arrival, I noticed how clean it was. From the windows to the baseboards. The cottage is decorated so cute overall, but what made it better was the Christmas decor. Terri and Todd also left us a sweet Christmas card on the stove. My husband and I really loved our hikes to the river and the fire pit. We will definitely be back next Spring to see the property in full bloom.

Perfect!!

My wife and I have been visiting the Mentone/DeSoto State Park area several times a year for the past four years. This was our absolute favorite stay! The cottage and property are exactly what we were looking for—cozy like a warm hug and surrounded by miles of woods and trails. (It’s even got the best hot tub!) Relaxing visit to Al's Nest

I came to Al's Nest for a quiet personal retreat and it was perfect for that. Thanks for the great communication, Terri! The cabin is very clean and well-stocked. I got great use out of the charcoal grill and fire pit as well as the hot tub. And the bed is exceptionally comfortable. I'd highly recommend this property for solo travelers or couples. I hope to visit again.

Breathtaking

We loved every single part of this cabin. It's so private and beautiful. The house is spotless, the bed is beyond comfortable, the kitchen has everything you need, the firepit is perfect, the entire experience was breathtaking. I highly recommend this cabin!

A Wonderful Long Weekend!

My wife and I had such a wonderful weekend in this delightful cottage retreat. 15 minutes or so from Fort Payne, a small town with a quaint, hometown feel. We walked the streets, ate at the restaurants, and visited several galleries, and artist stores . . . Then we "retreated" back to "our" cottage to enjoy the peace and quiet of the mountaintop! The Hosts made us feel welcome without ever meeting them -- they left a treat in the kitchen, and every need we thought of while there had been thoughtfully thought of and provided by the hosts. We look forward to going back soon -- we'd love to stay in the winter when there could be some snow on the ground, and get to enjoy the fireplace!! Thanks for such a wonderful experience.
