LOVED this darling cabin. The home was so cozy with a BIG fireplace and very comfortable bed. We also loved the availability to the local parks for hiking. This place is a MUST stay if you are in the area. We hope to visit again.
This place is tremendous! The house is down a small street that initially appears very populated but gives way to a perfectly quiet isolated area. The house is directly across the street from a creek that is beautiful to walk along. The street gets zero traffic! In fact, the only vehicle I heard during my long weekend was a plane (a single one) that flew overhead. If you’re visiting the house on your own or so that the second bedroom isn’t being used, I recommend the second bedroom instead of the master bedroom. The reason is simply that the second bedroom faces the creek and the sound of running water is nice overnight. I also recommend renting the place in early spring/late fall. The weather is perfect and the woods are just so relaxing. My only recommendations for the owners is quite minor: A map (printed at the property or online) of the property boundaries would be nice. As I walked along the creek I grew concerned that I might be intruding on other people’s property. It would be nice to know where to walk without trespassing concerns.
This is a wonderful cabin for a quiet getaway. Visiting in February, the street outside was extra quiet. There’s a nice walk down by the creek and lots of great locations to hang out both inside and outside. Apparently the people who stayed right before us had a couple dogs—we only knew that because of the guest book! The house was super clean and tidy with no signs of doggy guests. Beds and furniture are very comfortable, and the hosts were communicative and accommodating. We felt very welcomed. Much praise!
Everything we expected and more! We had a wonderful stay with our 2 senior dogs. The cabin was equipped with more than the listing said and plenty of acreage to explore.Deb & Dan are awesome hosts!! Thank you for sharing! We'll definitely book again, for sure!
This home was exactly what we needed! It is just far away from everything but close enough to real life! The house met all of our needs. The fireplace, the babbling stream, the wildlife hit it out of the park!
Enjoyed a cozy weekend of fireplace time in a beautiful wooded location. Cabin had everything we needed. Would love to come back in other seasons to explore the creek and hike in the area.
This cabin worked out perfectly over the holidays for my dogs and I. We were close to family in Frederick, MD for holiday events but had our own space, a great fireplace to enjoy in the evenings, and plenty of space to hike outside during the day. The cabin is older but cozy and well stocked with dishes, spices, etc. for cooking. Coffee and cream were provided. The listing was accurate and hosts were responsive and easy to work with. Would absolutely book again; the property would be beautiful anytime of the year.
Cozy cabin in the woods in the beautiful woods of northern Maryland. My dogs loved the long trails and playing in the babbling brook beside the cabin! And coming back to a roaring fire after a long hike was perfect. I would love to come back again!
This property is absoluely gorgeous! No matter which window you look out, you see trees, a stream, or just nature. We saw 1 pu truck and 1 delivery van, plus the plumber that came fix the sink in 5 days.
Beautiful location and comfortable, thoughtful interior
Since the start of Covid, my siblings and I have been getting away now and then to remote spots to decompress. This was our favorite. It’s not actually too far from main roads, but it feels remote—no other houses in sight and very few passing cars. Gorgeous setting with the mountains, trees, and creek. We like to sit outside, and we enjoyed the fire pit close to the house as well as the sitting area by the creek (a 4-minute walk down the road).
We actually ended up spending more time inside than we usually do. The indoor seating is very comfortable. Lots of soft blankets and pillows. Recliners that were hard to leave. Fireplace was great. We’d brought our own wood, but a ton of wood was supplied. There’s a beautiful view of the trees through the window. The Moxleys also have all sorts of fascinating curios and art pieces around the house. Internet worked well.
The beds are fine. Soft sheets. Reading lamps! Lots of outlets. House stayed a comfortable temperature despite the cold nights.
My siblings kept telling me I’d found a great place… Highly recommend!
Very cozy cabin centralized for all our activities, where we visited several Civil War battle sites.
Highly recommend going to the National Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes. A very special place!
The only negative I have is that there was no soap as was advertised. We popped out to the Weis to purchase.
Overall, we had a lovely time. Thank you!
The cabin was clean and comfortable. The location is stunning, perfect for spending time outdoors with your family. The drive is remote enough that we didn’t worry about the children and the dogs playing outside. Definitely would stay here again!
The only thing that was incorrect on the listing was that it listed the property had futons to sleep on. However, the couches that were in the living room were not futons.
Great location to get away and reset your busy life. Relaxing, quiet, trees, streams, nature’s animals. We visited the Catoctin Wildlife Preserve, and the Cunningham Park waterfalls.
Enjoyed the rustic cabin and would stay again without hesitation.
Easy directions and check in process. Cabin was lovely to stay in, and the property to relax on is amazing for getting away from it all. Appreciate the hospitality.
My brother, nephew and I rented the cabin for a long weekend. We used it as a base for visiting Gettysburg (~30 mins away) and Antetum (~45 mins away). Cabin was exactly what we needed and everything we could have asked for!
We stayed for 3 nights and had a great time. The creek/stream was a little hard to get to in some areas, and also is a little too fast moving with water falls and such, so not very good for crayfishing. But that would be our only “complaint”. The cabin itself was great and was fully stocked with everything we needed to make meals. The screened in porch was great for the dogs. Also only about 10-15 cars total went by while we were there and every one of them was slow and respectful. We will be back
This is a great property. The place is in the middle of no where. The home is simple and rustic but equipped with all of the things you could need to be comfortable. Starlink internet was perfect, kitchen served us well, and the overall condition of the property was demonstrative of a dedicated owner. We will be back!
Dan & I have always loved the outdoors, especially the forests. So, when he found this property, it was like it was destined for us to live here. & here we are, 15 years later, still enjoying our little piece of Heaven. Lots of upkeep & work I grant you; but well worth all of our efforts!!
When we purchased the property, there was this little weekend cabin placed on the second parcel. Dan & I lived there while building our home for when he decides to retire. If ever!
Why they chose this property
Some years ago, we decided to share the cabin & the quiet & solitude that we enjoy so much. Plenty of wildlife & birds to observe. The sounds of the creek alone are enough to make the tension disappear. It's just a peaceful place to kick back & enjoy yourself or a good book or reconnect with family or each other. In this hectic life we live, nowadays, it's nice to know there is a quiet little place to escape to Revuenate, relax or take a much needed walk in the woods.
