Relaxing week away
As a family of 4 we wanted a holiday to switch off and just enjoy being together and staveley provided this. The cottage is beautiful and the second lounge a real bonus and where we spent most of our time. There are walks from the doorstep or a 10min drive to key towns. The children (11 and 13) enjoyed the views and nature as much as the adults. Would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting some focused family time.

Beautiful cottage in beautiful area
We had a lovely stay. The second living room is amazing and the cottage was perfect for us. The location is brilliant too with walks on the doorstep and close to Windermere with all that has to offer. The local village is also very well serviced with coffee shops, bike hire, butchers, Spa, pharmacy and a micro brewery! There's also a fish and chip shop, with a pizza place opening soon apparently. Would definitely recommend.

Perfect Pear Tree Cottage.
This cottage was perfect! Beautiful inside and out, it was so comfortable and had everything we needed. The log burner was perfect for cold nights. The double bed was so comfortable, with fab views over the fields. The cottage is positioned on the edge of Staveley and close to a shop, brewery and pub. This was our first time in the Lake District and it is a beautiful area. I would definitely book this cottage again.

Easy access to the south lakes
This little cottage was ideal for our few nights escape. Staveley is a nice little village with a fabulous pub and handy store. It is also conveniently placed for access to the south lakes if you are prepared to drive. The cottage was clean and the kitchen area well thought out to use the space available, and also reasonably well equipped. Unfortunately, i have a back problem, so the bed wasn't very comfortable but the other guests were all fine. In spite of the miserable weather while we were there, the cottage was cosy and heats up quickly. The parking space was very convenient and the neighbours friendly. In all, we found the stay very enjoyable and could have happily spent a lot longer there to explore more.

A fantastic little cottage full of character and ideally located for exploring the national park.
We had a wonderful break. The cottage was wonderful, immaculately clean and very welcoming....especially the pint of milk, tea bags and biccies! Great base for exploring the quieter fells on the eastern side of the national park and very useful to pop into Staveley for supplies and a cheeky pint at the Eagle and Child.

Lovely cottage in an amazing location!
This lovely cottage is just as good in person as it is in the pictures. It is very cosy and welcoming and has a nice log fire which looks great in the living area, a well equipped kitchen and a comfy bedroom which for us overlooked a field of sheep and lamb's which was perfect to wake up to in the morning. The cottage is located in a very quite location in the village of Stavely which is beautiful. There is so much to do nearby. We would definitely recommend this property.

Another wonderful week in a very special place!
Pear Tree cottage is a delight. Immaculately presented in a superb picturesque position. Great starting point for walks and bike rides and still only a couple of minutes walk into the lovely village of Staveley which has lots of useful amenities. Very easy to organize with kind, helpful owners. Excellent stay in every way!

Beautiful and cosy
Went away for a long weekend with a couple of friends and this was the perfect place! Was so cosy with it's log burner, kitchen had everything you need to cook up dinner and the beds were very comfy. The whole place was extremely clean and the shower was amazing!! Perfect location for a quiet getaway, close to walking paths and short walk to the station to have a trip to Windermere. The town has all the essentials, the brewery is a 10 minute walk which serves amazing food (even catered for my vegan friends) and yummy beers. Overall would definitely recommend!

What a great holiday
We had a perfect week in this absolutely gorgeous cottage. It is up to date in every way without having lost the old character of the building. Everything worked fine and it was spotless clean. One could see that a lot of esprit and thinking was used for the remodelling. One of the best features was the open fire in front of which we had very cozy evenings. Absolutely great 👍 Thanks to Chris and Judith for this The village is very typical and has all you need for shopping and dining. Especially the local Chippy was really good and typically British.

Perfect!!
Pear Tree Cottage was an ideal accommodation for three friends travelling together. The cottage itself was spacious, comfortable and well equipped and well located in the village of Stavely with a wonderful walking path just out the door. Wifi was excellent and the private parking spot a bonus. Stavely itself is an ideal location for exploring the endless beauty of the Lake District. Highly recommended!

Cosy cottage. Great base for walking.
We have enjoyed our stay here, the cottage was very cosy and we enjoyed the log fire on a couple of cooler nights. The cottage came equipped with pretty much everything you’d need for a stay there. It was nice that dishwasher tablets were provided as some cottages we’ve stayed in don’t provide. As a suggestion we would have liked a pint of milk in the fridge for a cup of coffee on arrival to compliment the tea/coffee already provided. The weather was amazing and we went walking every day . Staveley village has some great eateries and coffee shops. The artisan bread from the local bakery was delicious. The parking was somewhat tight - we have a big car so had to carefully reverse up the drive and manoeuvre a few times to make sure we didn’t block access to the gate at the bottom of the driveway. However this probably wouldn’t be an issue for a smaller car. Our daughter loved her bedroom, and I found our bed and pillows to be extremely comfortable, which is a fantastic bonus for me as I often sleep badly when away, not this time - I slept like a log every night!! The walk up to Reston Scar behind the cottage was brilliant, the views magnificent, perfect for a sunny evening walk. Thank you very much for the use of your cottage. We will definitely comeback to the lakes!

lovely cozy cottage on the quiet outskirts of Staveley
We had a wonderful stay at Chris's cottage. This little house has been beautifully and subtly renovated, with everything we could possibly want--woodburning stove, internet and TV, walking access to some wonderful hill walks, and all that Staveley has to offer--brewery, bakery, butcher, little supermarket. We can't wait to come back.

Lovely Lake District Hideaway
My husband and I had a wonderful stay in Pear Tree Cottage. Tucked in just up the hill from the River Kent (you can hear the river when you open to the window or step out the door), we could trot into Staveley to pick up what we needed at the local butcher, bakery and grocer. When we got tired of cooking in, the pub is an easy 10-minute stroll through town or the local brewery is even closer. We could walk along the footpath just beside the place up the hill or take a quick drive to the closest lake we wanted to explore (check out the Ullswater--numerous walks, plus you can take the steamer boat if you get tired). The cottage is furnished with everything you need to cook in, comfortable beds (queen and 2 twins), and shower/ bathroom. The seating area with wood stove and SkyTV makes chilly, wet late winter nights in a pleasure. Clean, warm, cozy yet bright updated cottage. Chris, the owner, is very responsive and able to answer any questions. Will certainly stay here again when we next get to the Lake District.

Relaxing break in this characterful hidden gem!
Currently travelling home for our wonderful 3 night break at this cosy and welcoming cottage, planning our next return! We had a wonderful time. The cottage was extremely clean and tidy and we loved the original features like the exposed oak beams and stones. It had all the modern amenities whilst staying totally in keep with the traditional country cottage features. It was just what we were looking for. Relaxing by the log fire of an evening was a real treat, and we were lucky to be blessed with a beautifully sunny Saturday as we stayed, which was lovely to wake up to through the little bedroom window. The area is excellent for walks, we had a great day out in Grasmere. Thank you for a fantastic break, we hope to return very soon! Leanne and Jack

Why they chose this property

,WE BOUGHT THE COTTAGE 9 YEARS AGO BECAUSE WE LOVED THE POSITION IT WAS IN AND THE WARM COZY ATMOSPHERE THE HOUSE HAD DESPITE ITS UNMODERNIZED CONDITION. AFTER A YEAR OF HARD WORK EXPOSING ORIGINAL FEATURES LIKE THE FIREPLACE,OAK BEAMS AND UPSTAIRS FLOORBOARDS AND ADDING MODERN ESSENTIALS WE DECIDED TO LET THE COTTAGE TO HOLIDAYMAKERS WITH MANY GUESTS RETURNING SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE YEARS.WE ALSO HAVE OUR HOLIDAYS HERE WITH THE KIDS. WE HOPE YOU ENJOY THE PLACE AS MUCH AS WE DO.
