Lovely Chez Charolais
We had a wonderful stay in this lovely house in a beautiful rural setting. The configuration of the house was perfect for grandparents, parents and 6 month old; especially important to us were our own bathrooms and loos! Many houses I looked at booking only had one bathroom.. the area was lovely and we enjoyed exploring the canal, the local town including the impressive ruined castle in Moulins-Engilbert. Two of us went wine tasting … and buying… near Beaune. We also visited Bibitract (?) the ancient Gaul site which was fascinating and enjoyed a couple o meals out, one on the canal at Panneçot €18 for menu du jour; busy with locals and very friendly and a rather more formal setting at the restaurant in Moulins-Engilbert The heated pool was wonderful; only negative would that the pool cover is heavy to open and close…especially for the grandparents. Other very minor comments would be that the blue ‘pitch’ could do with some maintenance and the boule set was very rusty. My son in law who did the bulk of the cooking would have liked a better frying pan! We had an issue with a smelly loo in the en-suite upstairs; Celine suggested a product which we purchased and that improved the situation. But all of these are very minor issues which didn’t impinge on our enjoyment of our holiday.

Fun in the sun
We had a week here at the end of July 2020 and had a great time - the house is terrific, lots of space, a great pool and garden. We all enjoyed the stay. The area was quiet, which was fine in these strange times. The main challenge for us was a heatwave, and the property did get very warm without a lot of focus on shading / ventilation. Worth bearing in mind if you are coming at the height of summer. The main highlights were the pool and the wonderful outside spaces for eating & relaxing - the space under the willow was particularly good on a hot day.

A family gathering
A lovely house in a fairly remote position with a very sleepy village close by although it did have a small supermarket.Fantastic garden for the grandchildren to play in. We thought the bathrooms were very dated.House was well equipped and great log burner for chilly evenings. Superb outside eating areas for when sun shone. All in all we had a very enjoyable time, and would return.

Could not have asked for better
No complaints whatsoever. Large comfortable house, large garden (great for dog). Location excellent - near a small hamlet with quiet lanes but supermarket only 5 minutes away by car and the Canal du Nivernais only 10 minutes by car, giving good flat walking along the towpath. A house we were sorry to leave and to which we plan to return.
