About this property
You do not have to leave this informal and homely connection
Available for the full month of July and full month of August, with 10 percent discount for two-month rental, with additional flexibility for all or part of June and Labor Day weekend, if desired. Set on 65 very private and beautiful acres, this 100-year old house was built with stone quarried on the property. Fully renovated five years ago, it offers a kitchen that can host a professional chef but is welcoming and wide open; formal dining room and a living room perfect for entertaining or just hanging out, all of it finished in walnut and oak floors, barn wood, custom bookcases, wood stove, oriental rugs and the kind of furniture that belongs there. The gigantic screen porch is where you can eat meals, have a glass of wine or just watch the sun go down, and it adjoins a large fire pit and seating area perfect for chilly evenings. The second floor has four bedrooms, all of them large enough to be masters, and the A-frame style, official master is the size of a small studio apartment. The 10-foot high cathedral windows let you take in the beauty of the property and its extensive flower beds, large pond with gazebo, running water frog pond, meadow pergola and majestic trees, from almost any angle or time of day. The bathrooms were all renovated with stone and barn wood and the gigantic, master BR shower must be seen to be fully appreciated. The large, in-ground swimming pool, along with adjacent pool house and summer kitchen, is perfect for hot days or evening swims. Property also offers numerous private hiking trails, hilltop vistas that overlook a tributary of the Housatonic River, and a gem-like series of ice-cold, mountain waterfalls perfect for trout fishing or skinny dipping. House has robust DSL internet and Direct TV. Property is secure and gated, and a groundskeeper in small guest house, that cannot be seen from the main house, can handle any issues during your stay. Pets welcome but we would like to approve specific pet (s).
