My husband, two kids (14, 11), mother and grandmother (87!) and I stayed at the beach house 4th of July week. In the middle of a pandemic, it was the absolute perfect getaway. The house itself is a homage to art and culture, with much of the art displayed created by members of the family. From family photos to tile mosaics to a wonderfully curated record collection, this place just makes you feel cool by being in it. I'm also confident that it's one of the best private beaches around! Yes, there are neighbors, but more or less you have your own spot on Lake Michigan, and the water is shallow, clear and very swimmable. My daughter spent hours upon hours in the water, and given how hot it was, we all spent a lot of time getting wet. The house has almost anything you would need, especially in the kitchen, as well as extras like a wonderful book collection and a nice TV and DVD player for when you need a break from the sun. The bunk room is definitely one of my favorite rooms in the house and reminds me of being at college or Girl Scout camp. So many of the rooms have water views, and the sun room with sliding doors all around, is an excellent place to relax. We cannot wait to go back!!
Suggestions: bring a shower caddy of some kind, as the two showers are on the ground level, but most of the bedrooms are upstairs. It's not a big deal at all, but I think having some sort of portable caddy with your toiletries would be helpful. If you're looking to cook, the kitchen is very well stocked with almost anything you would need.
