Located in the heart of the historic Village of Flat Rock, close to Little Rainbow Row and walking distance to Carl Sandburg's house. Centrally located to so many great things to do - hiking, vineyards, restaurants. Town hop - Hendersonville, Saluda, Brevard, Lake Lure, Greenville and Asheville. Close to it all or stay home and enjoy the fire pit, backyard and catching up.
The Village House is in the heart of the Village of Flat Rock. This 100 year old house has been fully renovated - all the charm of an old house with the comforts of a new one. Easily accessible and centrally located to all the area has to offer!
The space has been set up to accommodate a variety of guests, their sleeping arrangements and reasons for booking. The Village House comfortably sleeps 14 in beds and 3 full bathrooms.
Upon entering the Village House, a guest bedroom will be on your right with a king bed. The next hallway door leads to the full hall bath with a shower/tub combination. The last door in the hallway leads to the master bedroom with a king bed and it's own ensuite bathroom with walk-in shower.
Our open living/dining/kitchen makes for easy conversations. The dining table seats 8 but can expand to seat as many as 12. Extra leafs are stored in the table. You will enjoy our double oven range and french door fridge to cook for many if you choose to. Off the back of the kitchen is a full laundry room with access to washer and dryer and back porch. Sit in the rocking chairs and watch the kids play on our large flat back yard. A small creek, hammock, fire pit and rope swing are great for entertainment. We have a weber charcoal grill as well that guests can use.
Heading up the stairs you will find a random vanity in the hallway - this was an old kitchenette area for guests in the 1940s! We kept the plumbing and vanity so upstairs guests will have an extra sink to use. Going towards your left upstairs, you will find a queen bed and tv nook area with a twin mattress in the dormer. There is also a small balcony to enjoy with locks up high to prevent access for children. This balcony used to be a staircase entrance for guests in the 1940s. There is a small jack and jill bathroom that connects to our last bedroom which has it's own entrance from the hallway as well. The 4th bedroom has two bunk bed sets, a queen bed and a twin bed sleeping 7 comfortably. A pack n play and other baby gear is stored in this bedrooms closet.
This house's location is in the heart of Flat Rock, and a few minutes to Hendersonville then Saluda, Brevard, Greenville and Asheville.
Please note that we are a house centrally located to many wonderful things - a quick drive to all the area has to offer but we are not a remote mountain vacation home. This house has a large back yard but the front of the house is off the main two way road in Flat Rock - the historic scenic byway. This means great and quick access to everything but you will hear street traffic on the front porch or inside at times.
Guests have access to the whole house although I have locked access to the basement and certain owners and cleaning closets.
We have the home set up to be a smart entry key code. Although you might not ever see me, I am only an airbnb message away should any problems arise. Having recently fully renovated the house, I have a crew of people at my disposal to fix any problem should one arise. With an old house fully renovated though - a new tankless water heater, minisplits upstairs, updated wiring, carbon monoxide and smoke detectors - we hope you will never have to reach out unless it is to share how much you enjoyed your stay.
What makes the Village of Flat Rock special... so much to share - please check out my guidebook for recommendations in Flat Rock, Hendersonville and close by Brevard and Asheville. We really are central to it all. We are on the corner of the scenic byway and Bonclarken Ln. - right down the street you can grab a coffee and something delicious at the Village Bakery or Honey and Salt, BBQ at Hubba Hubba or a nice meal and cocktail at Campfire Grill - and don't forget to shop at the Wrinkled Egg - literally all are a few houses down the road in what we call Little Rainbow Row. Walk to the Carl Sandburg home and pet the goats or take a hike. Feel like driving - just a quick car ride away is downtown Hendersonville, Sky Top Orchards or Dupont Forest. Brevard, Saluda, Lake Lure and Asheville are 20-40 min each away but worth the drive to explore all the area has to offer, which is a lot. Fall in love with the area and use our house that is central to all the wonderful activities.
The Village Park is a great place to get a walk in and some exercise or let the kids run around on the impressive playground ...
Uber and lyft are of course present but depending on season/time of day might be best to prepare in advance
Message me if you need recommendations for a small bus to visit a vineyard, Sierra Nevada Brewery, etc...
Tankless water heater - never run out of hot water!
The backyard! Let the kids explore and imagination run wild - there is a small stream, rope swing, hammock and fire pit with a smokeless solo stove to enjoy.
Please swing at your own risk as we are not able to inspect the swings after every storm or guest.
